Chapter 349: Establishing the Top Student Persona 4
The fans found the scene incredibly heartwarming.
The sky was gradually darkening as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the western sky with a crimson afterglow. There was none of the city’s clamor here—only the sound of the wind and the chirping of a few insects.
A flashlight, hung from a bamboo pole, served as a lamp, illuminating a space of less than three meters around them.
They were still busy.
Strips of bamboo were arranged to create six small beds. They had no tents, and certainly no inflatable sleeping bags, but the production crew had provided bedding and other necessities.
The six small beds were laid out inside the little bamboo house. It was primitive and rustic, yet there was a certain refinement in its simplicity. The beds were placed against the six walls of the structure, leaving a large open space in the middle.
The livestream was still on, and a crew member used the camera to give everyone a tour of the small bamboo house.
"It’s been a long day, so let’s all get some rest. We have new tasks waiting for us tomorrow, so this is where we’ll end today’s livestream."
"Thank you all so much for tuning in today. Goodnight!"
"We’ll see you in the morning."
"Goodnight, sweet dreams."
"See you tomorrow!"
"Don’t forget to dream of me!"
The day’s livestream was over. Melody Monroe’s team was the second to sign off for the day.
The first had been Eileen Scott’s team.
Because their viewer count had plummeted from a thousand to just over a hundred, and nearly all of them were cursing her out. So, they just shut it down.
Melody Monroe was truly exhausted; she fell asleep almost as soon as her head hit the pillow.
The livestream was over, but many people still hadn’t had their fill. The next day, the production crew would create a highlights video, editing the day’s stream down to about an hour to be posted online.
The show had only been airing for a day, but it had already blown up.
Many of its metrics were shattering all previous records.
Its popularity was sky-high.
Of all the teams, Melody Monroe’s had been the most popular during the day’s stream. They were also the most interesting to watch, which pushed them onto the trending topics list again.
Melody Monroe was the center of attention.
The bamboo house—from design and construction to final assembly—was all her brainchild. Her teammates were also incredibly capable, and their group’s overall competence was, without a doubt, the strongest of all the teams.
Plus, their team dynamic was the best.
Melody Monroe’s fan count surged once again.
Interesting clips from the day’s stream were already being made into short videos and spread across all the major social media platforms.
Besides all this, people were also curious about Melody Monroe’s educational background and her major.
After her performance today, she was, without a doubt, a genius!
The topic grew hotter and hotter.
Rose Shaw stood by a car, scrolling through her phone.
ZAP! ZAP! ZAP! With the crackle of electricity, Keith Coleman swept an electric bug zapper around Rose Shaw.
"Rose, why don’t you get in the car? There are too many mosquitoes out here."
They were parked not far from Melody Monroe’s campsite. They weren’t allowed to stay at the camp itself, so they were sleeping in their cars. Between them and the production crew, there were several vans, which was plenty of space for them to sleep.
"Online, people are building up this ’genius’ persona for Melody Monroe," Rose Shaw said, handing her phone to Keith Coleman.
Keith Coleman glanced at it. "What university did Melody graduate from?"
"She dropped out of high school. She never took the college entrance exams."
"You mean someone’s deliberately setting the narrative?" Keith Coleman immediately understood what Rose Shaw was implying.
"Exactly," Rose Shaw nodded.
"A high school dropout?" Keith Coleman mulled it over. "Even if she gets criticized for her education, building a fake persona is not the answer."
