Chapter 254: Provoking the Third Brother, What Nerve
Evan Fairchild stared at his phone, his brows furrowing even deeper. "This little rascal! How did he get such a foul temper? I don’t know who he takes after! The older he gets, the more of a headache he is. I’m afraid he’ll never find a wife at this rate!"
"Elliot, how did it go? What did Evan say?" Noelle Grant asked, bringing a cup of coffee to Evan Fairchild.
"The Sheffield Family definitely offended him, but I don’t know how. From the looks of it, he’s absolutely furious."
"For Mason Sheffield to come knocking, they must have really hit a nerve. Otherwise, a man as proud as him would never be willing to swallow his pride like this."
"Evan has never given us a reason to worry. As his second brother and sister-in-law, let’s take this opportunity to really step up for him. Mason Sheffield sent people to the company a few days ago to discuss a collaborative project. Since they’ve offended Evan, that collaboration is off. We won’t be doing any business with their company ever again." Evan Fairchild wrapped an arm around his wife’s waist and asked, fishing for praise, "What do you think?"
"Of course! Do it, and do it fast! Don’t let your big brother beat you to it," Noelle Grant immediately agreed with a nod.
Evan Fairchild pinched Noelle Grant’s cheek. "I’m off to the office, but I’ll be back this afternoon to spend time with you. It’s been too long since we went out together."
"How about we go to the Fairchild Estate to see Mom and Dad?"
"We’ll probably just miss them again. Even Mom and Dad know how to have their own couple’s time, so why can’t we?"
"Alright, off to the office with you. We’re an old married couple now."
"You’re not old at all. You’re just as beautiful as the day we first met, and my heart still races when I see you."
"You’re being silly again, aren’t you? Now, hurry to the office. I’m going to catch up on some shows. I’m in a drama drought lately. I wonder when Zane Langdon’s new series will air."
"Zane Langdon again! You’re a married woman!"
"I’m his ’mom fan,’ alright?" Noelle Grant was exasperated. ’A woman’s state of mind really changes after thirty. And here I am, already thirty-three.’
"In that case, it seems we can still have another child."
"Are you kidding me!" Noelle Grant exclaimed with a playful pout.
They looked at each other and smiled, the air thick with sweetness.
...
「Fairchild Estate.」
A car pulled to a stop.
The butler immediately walked forward. "Eldest Young Master, Eldest Young Madam, you’ve arrived."
These days, the Fairchild family business was managed by Ethan Fairchild, while all household matters, large and small, were left in the hands of the Eldest Young Madam, Zoe Quinn.
"Are Mom and Dad not here?" Zoe Quinn asked, frowning as she noticed the empty parking space. Turning to her husband, she said, "We came for nothing. I told you to call first, but you didn’t."
"Even if you had called, you couldn’t have stopped them if they wanted to leave. Let’s go inside and rest for a bit." Ethan Fairchild took his wife’s arm and led her toward the courtyard.
"Eldest Young Madam, to be honest, the Master is avoiding Mason Sheffield. He’s come twice in three days, and the Mistress is sick to death of it."
"Avoiding Mason Sheffield?"
The butler quickly explained the entire situation to Ethan Fairchild.
"Why didn’t he come directly to me?"
"He probably didn’t dare. He likely felt he had a better relationship with the Master, so he went to him."
"A relationship?" Ethan Fairchild scoffed.
"How did they provoke the third brother? Should we call him and check in?" Zoe Quinn immediately suggested.
"He doesn’t need us checking on him. You think he’s some little lamb?"
"How can you say that as his big brother? Our little brother is still so young."
"Who said I wasn’t going to do anything? Didn’t the Sheffield Family just back a major project? I’ll have my people look into it and make an investment of our own. Has Mason Sheffield lost his mind? He’s got some nerve, provoking our third brother."
