Melody Monroe clutched her phone and replied with a message: "Almost there. Are you at the office?"

[In a meeting.]

[Playing on your phone during a meeting?]

[I just suddenly missed you.]

Melody Monroe took a deep breath.

It was as if her heart had been struck by a sweet cannonball.

’I can’t take this. I can’t. I need to calm down.’

[You don’t miss me?] Evan Fairchild sent another message.

When Melody Monroe saw the message, she couldn’t stop herself from blushing, a faint smile gracing her lips.

[Are we still watching a movie tonight?] another message came through.

Melody Monroe’s face instantly turned even redder.

’A movie, my ass. If it weren’t for "watching a movie," we wouldn’t have...’

’Why did his "watching a movie" feel so suggestive?’

[I need to spend some quality time with Ian tonight. You should get back to your meeting. I’m almost there, so let’s talk later.] Melody Monroe put her phone away and gently pinched her cheeks.

’My face isn’t beet red, is it?’

Thankfully, Talia Mercer was engrossed in her phone at that moment and hadn’t noticed.

Evan Fairchild saw the message and set his phone aside. The corners of his lips curled up involuntarily. Even if the feeling was one-sided for now, it was still so damn sweet.

The people in the conference room looked at President Fairchild, then exchanged bewildered glances.

’Is President Fairchild smiling?’

’How terrifying!’

The person currently presenting was so startled their mind went blank, and they had no idea what to say.

Evan Fairchild looked up at them. "Are you finished?"

The person froze for a moment. Just as they were about to speak, Evan Fairchild’s voice cut in again. "Next."

The man was a picture of confusion.

He wailed internally. ’I’m done for! It’s over!’

Evan Fairchild leaned back in his chair, shifting into a more comfortable position.

’How am I going to get Ian Monroe out of the way tonight? That little brat is such a headache!’

The meeting ended, but Evan Fairchild still hadn’t come up with a good plan. He was also afraid of angering Ian Monroe. Despite his young age, Ian Monroe had quite a temper.

After Evan Fairchild left, a buzz of discussion filled the conference room.

"Did something good happen to President Fairchild today?"

"Yeah, he seems to be in a great mood!"

"Well, I’ve never seen President Fairchild look so pleasant."

"I really hope President Fairchild is in a good mood every day!"

"Let’s get out of here. Let’s go while President Fairchild is in a good mood."

Everyone quickly gathered their things and fled the company.

Evan Fairchild returned to his office, and his phone rang. It was his personal cell.

"Yut."

"Evan, is your meeting over?" came a warm, gentle voice over the phone.

"What’s up?"

"You’ve been back in the country for so long, but you only came home the day you arrived. Don’t you miss us?"

There was silence on the other end of the line.

Yut Fairchild chuckled. His younger brother was always like this—his cold demeanor was a real headache. The ten-year age gap made him feel that communication was incredibly difficult.

’There was a generation gap.’

"I really did have a reason for calling."

"Mm."

"Mason Sheffield came to visit Dad. Did he do something to offend you? Dad asked me to find out what’s going on."

Thinking of the mark on Melody Monroe’s face, Evan Fairchild’s gaze turned chillingly cold.

"If he really did offend you, I happen to have a project his company sent people to discuss. I had them turned away."

"You handle it."

Yut Fairchild frowned. ’Looks like this isn’t just some minor spat.’

’How on earth did the Sheffield Family provoke Evan? For them to make Evan go to such lengths, they’ve certainly got nerve.’

"Come home when you have time."

"I don’t have time." Evan Fairchild hung up and tossed his phone aside.
