Chapter 89: President Fairchild Explodes
Meanwhile, the phone Director Wallace had left by the camera was ringing over and over again...
However, to avoid being distracted from his work, Director Wallace had put his phone on silent, so no one noticed the incoming calls.
A few minutes later, Melody Monroe let out a long breath.
"I’m ready," she said to Director Wallace and Zane Langdon.
Everyone got ready to start again.
Melody Monroe glanced up at the night sky again. ’I am Willow Lynch! Julian Hale is the man I love!’ When she looked at Zane Langdon this time, it was as if a fictional character had materialized before her, and all her nervousness suddenly vanished.
"Action!"
Zane Langdon ran over, about to call out to Melody Monroe.
As Melody Monroe turned, she accidentally bumped into his arms.
She was so deep in character that the impact actually made her head hurt.
Zane Langdon quickly steadied her by the shoulders. The moment he saw her beautiful eyes glistening with tears, he instantly slipped into character as well.
In the distance, a figure stood in a dimly lit corner, the air around him seeming to drop to a freezing point.
"Was a hug in the script?" Evan Fairchild’s voice suddenly rang out.
Tommy snapped to attention, wracking his brain. "I think so, right before the kiss scene."
’Could it be that President Fairchild didn’t notice?’
He’d thought President Fairchild was being generous, only deleting all of Miss Monroe’s kiss scenes for the entire show.
Now he suspected President Fairchild had genuinely missed what came before the kiss scene. He hadn’t noticed there was a hug.
’That... couldn’t be possible, could it?’
’After all, President Fairchild could read ten lines at a glance. How could he possibly have missed it?’
But Evan Fairchild truly hadn’t noticed.
He was now wondering the same thing—why hadn’t he noticed?
’His attention had been focused entirely on the kiss scene!’
But in his work, he never made this kind of mistake. He never missed a single detail, no matter how insignificant!
He couldn’t even explain it to himself.
Evan Fairchild’s gaze darkened. "Why haven’t they notified the director yet?"
Tommy didn’t know either!
’Why were they still filming? It seemed they were sticking to the original plan.’
’They can’t kiss! If they actually go through with it, President Fairchild will lose it right here on the spot!’
...
Back on set, everything was falling perfectly into place.
Zane Langdon and Melody Monroe were both in the zone, and the set had grown quiet, captivated by the atmosphere they created.
Melody Monroe kept her eyes fixed on Zane Langdon. But just as he leaned in closer, the face before her suddenly morphed into Evan Fairchild’s! In a panic, she shoved Zane Langdon away.
The move left everyone on set stunned.
Even Director Wallace was so shocked he forgot to call, "Cut!"
Melody Monroe looked at Zane Langdon, only then realizing how drastically she’d reacted.
’What the hell! Of all the times for Evan Fairchild to pop into my head!’
"I’m sorry, Mr. Langdon, I..." Melody Monroe quickly apologized, trailing off, not knowing what else to say.
"It’s fine. Don’t worry about it," Zane Langdon reassured her.
Just as Director Wallace was about to speak, his assistant rushed over and handed him his phone. "Director Wallace, your phone!"
He glanced down and saw over a dozen missed calls! All from the producer!
"Director Wallace! Thank god, this is an emergency! You finally picked up! What are you guys doing over there? I’ve already called three people and none of them answered!" the voice on the other end ranted the moment the call connected.
"We’re in the middle of a night shoot, everyone’s busy. What’s going on? Is something wrong?" Director Wallace asked hurriedly.
"Of course something’s wrong, otherwise I wouldn’t be calling you this late. We need to change the script—cut all of Zane Langdon and Melody Monroe’s kissing scenes!"
