Chapter 99: It’s Gone Cold
"What is it?" Rose Shaw’s cool and composed voice came through the phone.
"Can you switch me to a different hotel? I’m finding it a bit inconvenient to stay here."
"Switch hotels?" Rose Shaw was slightly taken aback. "This is the best one nearby."
"That’s okay. I saw a place called The Cloudrest Hotel that looks pretty nice."
Although The Cloudrest Hotel was also nearby, it was in the complete opposite direction from her current one.
"Alright, I’ll have Winter Kane arrange it."
"Rose, is it possible to switch today?"
"Melody, did something happen? Are you being harassed?"
"Something like that." Melody Monroe didn’t know how to explain it to Rose Shaw.
"I understand." Rose Shaw nodded, her fingertips flying across the keyboard as she searched for The Cloudrest Hotel.
"The deluxe suites at The Cloudrest Hotel come with a staff room. I’ll have Winter Kane book a deluxe suite directly. Talia Mercer and Winter Kane can stay with you, so you’ll have people looking out for you."
"Okay, thank you, Rose."
"Melody..." Rose Shaw said suddenly.
Melody waited for Rose Shaw to continue.
After a few seconds of silence on the line, Rose Shaw’s voice came through again. "Stay safe."
"Oh, okay." By the time Melody processed it, Rose Shaw had already hung up.
’Is Rose worried about me?’
’Her mother and sister had always been an unresolved sorrow for Rose Shaw. Given the huge shift in Rose’s attitude just now, she was genuinely happy!’
’How wonderful it would be if she could change Rose Shaw’s fate!’
When Melody Monroe returned to the break area, Talia Mercer had already brought her lunch.
Jasper Rockwell frowned as he looked at the simple meal.
"Melody, leafy greens again? If you keep eating like this, aren’t you afraid of getting malnourished?"
"I won’t. I’m also eating chicken breast and beef for protein. It just doesn’t put on fat." Melody Monroe had worked so hard to get her weight under control; she absolutely could not let it get out of hand again.
"I couldn’t even take a single bite of that," Jasper Rockwell said, shaking his head.
"Later, when your and Mr. Langdon’s lunch arrives, please stay far away from me, thank you."
Jasper Rockwell couldn’t help but burst out laughing. "No! I refuse! I’m going to eat it right in front of you!"
Melody: ...
"Melody, you’re just too cute. No wonder President Fairchild..."
"What about him?"
"Nothing, nothing. You should eat first." Jasper Rockwell didn’t dare say more.
’The thought of watching Evan Fairchild pursue a girl firsthand filled him with anticipation.’
’They were already staying in the same hotel. How could things not progress from here?’
Talia Mercer looked up from her phone and said to Melody, "Melody, Winter Kane has already arranged the hotel. I’ll go back and pack up in a bit. Is there anything else you need here? I can get it ready for you."
"I don’t need anything. Go on and get it done. Just make sure the hotel situation is handled."
Listening to their conversation, Jasper Rockwell was utterly confused.
"Melody, what’s this about a hotel? What do you mean?" he asked hurriedly.
"We’re changing hotels," Melody Monroe answered simply.
"Why are you changing hotels?" Jasper Rockwell immediately pressed.
"No reason. I just don’t want to stay here anymore."
Jasper Rockwell: ...
’Could it be that President Fairchild just got friend-zoned and is now completely out of the picture?’
’No!’
Jasper Rockwell immediately recalled Melody asking him how long President Fairchild was planning to stay.
’Could it be that she’s trying to avoid President Fairchild?’
’Is that why she’s even changing hotels?!’
’Jasper Rockwell felt a shiver run down his spine. If Evan Fairchild found out, he’d be the one who was a dead man!’
