’Forget the original owner of this body; I doubt any woman could resist this man’s charm.’
Evan Fairchild gazed at Melody Monroe. He had spotted this black dress immediately among the many pictures Tommy had sent him.
Indeed, it looked as if it had been tailor-made for her.
The V-neck design perfectly showcased her lovely collarbones and made her skin appear as milky-white and delicate as cream.
Delectable. Tempting.
Melody Monroe grew a little self-conscious under his intense gaze.
Evan Fairchild retracted his gaze and glanced at his watch. "I’ve made a reservation. Let’s go to dinner."
’Why does he never phrase things as a question? It’s always an indisputable command.’
"I’m very sorry, President Fairchild, but I need to rush over to the set. I can’t have dinner with you. Thank you for arranging for this outfit. I’ll be going now." After she spoke, Melody Monroe headed for the door.
The moment she pulled the door open, she felt like she could breathe again. She quickly dashed toward the elevators.
Once inside the elevator, Melody Monroe took several deep breaths, and her racing heart finally began to calm down.
’Why would Evan Fairchild be at this hotel?’
’How could it be such a coincidence?’
’Exactly how long is he planning to stay?’
’If he’s staying long-term, should I consider switching hotels?’
Back in her room, Melody Monroe changed out of the dress, contacted Talia Mercer and Winter Kane, and prepared to head to the film set early.

Jasper Rockwell sat alone in Melody Monroe’s usual resting spot, listlessly eating a lollipop.
Without Melody Monroe and Zane Langdon around, he didn’t even have the heart to play games.
Suddenly, he spotted Melody Monroe and immediately perked up, waving her over.
"Melody! You’re here! This is great!"
Melody Monroe walked over to Jasper Rockwell.
"You have no idea how bored I’ve been here all by myself!"
"Haven’t Mr. Langdon and the others finished their scene yet?" Melody Monroe asked, glancing into the distance.
"Not yet, but they should be done soon."
Melody Monroe sat down, looking at Jasper Rockwell. Her thoughts drifted to Evan Fairchild. ’Jasper probably knows how long Evan is planning to stay in Jansburg, right?’
’But if I ask him directly, will it cause some kind of misunderstanding?’
’But if I don’t ask, I’m afraid my poor heart won’t be able to take the suspense.’
"Jasper, about your President Fairchild... he..."
The moment Evan Fairchild was mentioned, Jasper Rockwell’s eyes lit up. "Melody! You saw President Fairchild?"
"We just happened to run into each other," Melody Monroe quickly clarified. ’Why does Jasper get so hyper the second I mention Evan Fairchild?’ she wondered.
"Well, that’s quite a coincidence!" Jasper Rockwell said with a mischievous grin.
’Evan Fairchild, Evan Fairchild! So you couldn’t sit still, huh? Actually pulling the ’chance encounter’ card! Shameless!’
Melody Monroe was puzzled. ’Why did what Jasper just said sound so... strange?’
"Melody, what were you about to say?" Jasper Rockwell asked, a look of eager anticipation on his face.
"I wanted to ask you something... It’s just... do... do you know how long President Fairchild plans to stay in Jansburg?"
"Oh, that. He’ll probably be here for a long time," Jasper Rockwell replied with a smile.
"A long time?!" Melody Monroe’s voice jumped a few octaves.
’No! I’m going to suffocate!’
"Melody, why the sudden question?" Jasper Rockwell thought. ’There has to be a reason, and I’m dying to know what it is!’
"It’s nothing, really," Melody Monroe said, quickly shaking her head.
"Melody, what do you think of our President Fairchild?"
"He’s great."
Jasper: ’Was that the most half-hearted answer ever?’
"I have to take care of something. I’ll be back in a bit." Melody Monroe stood up and walked off into the distance.
Once she found a deserted spot, she immediately pulled out her phone and dialed Rose Shaw’s number.
"Hello, Rose? I need to discuss something with you."
