"I forgot to call Ian yesterday! He called me over ten times!" Melody said, annoyed with herself.

The thought of Ian waiting by his watch phone nearly broke her heart.

"It’s not good for a boy to be so clingy with his mother. You’ll see him tonight after the shoot. He’s at school now, so you can’t contact him even if you wanted to. Don’t worry about it."

’He has a point,’ Melody thought. ’When I get back tonight, I have to spend some quality time with Ian.’

She quickly got out of bed to wash up.

As soon as Melody left, Evan Fairchild suddenly felt that lying in bed alone was no fun at all. He changed his clothes, fastened his tie, and went out to the living room.

Melody finished changing and hurried out.

"Take my car." Evan Fairchild held the car keys out to Melody.

’Take his car? You’ve got to be kidding me!’

"I have a car. Rose already arranged everything."

Evan Fairchild took out another set of keys. "If you don’t want to drive my car, you can take this one."

Melody looked at the logo on the key fob. Mercedes-Benz.

"Really, I don’t need one."

"I can either drive you, or you can take this car. Your choice."

’The choices he gives me are never my preferred options.’

Melody took the keys. "I’ll take your car."

"Good girl." Evan Fairchild patted her head. "The car’s in the underground garage. Just have someone come pick it up."

’I really feel like I’ve latched onto a wealthy patron,’ Melody thought.

She quickly called Rose Shaw to let her know she had a car, then called Winter Kane and Talia Mercer, telling them to come directly to her apartment complex.

After making the calls, she walked over to the shoe cabinet, opened the small key drawer, and took out a key for Evan Fairchild.

"Mr. Fairchild, this key is for you."

Evan Fairchild took the key, a smile flashing in his eyes. He suddenly threw an arm out, trapping her against the door.

Melody jumped in fright. "Mr. Fairchild, don’t!"

Melody pushed him back slightly, her face flushing red.

"Can you be serious for a second?"

"I am being serious. And what I’m about to say is very serious, too. Don’t you think it’s time to change what you call me?"

"I’m just used to calling you Mr. Fairchild."

"I feel that’s too formal. Call me by my name—Evan. Or ’darling.’"

’How embarrassing!’ Melody thought. She just couldn’t bring herself to say his name; it felt so incredibly forced. ’And don’t even get me started on ’darling’!’

It looked like he wouldn’t let it go until she said it.

"E... Evan."

"See? You’ll get used to it if you say it more. Again."

He still hadn’t had enough.

"Alright, are you done yet?" Melody’s face was beet red.

’Talia and Winter will be here any minute. How can I face them looking like this?’

"If you really can’t manage it, you can call me ’Big Brother,’ too."

Melody was left speechless.

"Uncle! Daddy!"

"Say that again, I dare you!"

"Daddy!"

"Say that again, I dare you!"

"Daddy, daddy, daddy!" Melody was intentionally trying to get a rise out of him.

"I wouldn’t mind if you called me that in front of Ian Monroe, either."

Melody immediately shook her head. "I wouldn’t dare."

"It’s fine. Go on."

"I really wouldn’t dare!"

"You know how to make it up to me." Evan Fairchild pointed to his lips.

Melody stood on her tiptoes and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek.

"Cutting corners? That’s a penalty!"
