Chapter 141: As Expected of His Son, His Own Flesh and Blood
The man was left speechless.
Evan Fairchild suddenly tightened his grip.
"Ah! It hurts, it hurts, it hurts!" the man immediately screamed.
None of the bystanders felt any pity for him.
"Is he a kidnapper?"
"Definitely! Thank goodness the kid’s dad showed up in time. Otherwise, the consequences would have been unthinkable."
"Sir, you should call the police! You can’t let someone like him get away."
Ian Monroe listened to what everyone was saying, then looked up at Evan Fairchild and suddenly declared, "I don’t know him, either!"
The crowd was stunned!
’He doesn’t know him? But the two of them so clearly look like father and son!’
"You’re Ian Monroe, right?" Evan Fairchild asked.
Ian Monroe was a little surprised.
"I know your mother," Evan Fairchild explained patiently.
’This child is so guarded. He probably won’t trust me so easily.’
"No! Don’t try to trick me!" Ian Monroe pointed a small finger at Evan Fairchild. "You’re even worse than he is!"
Evan Fairchild was speechless.
’How did I end up being the worse one?’
"How do you know my name? Do you think just by saying my name, everyone will believe you know my mom? I don’t know you, and I’m definitely not going with you!"
This time, Ian Monroe was truly scared.
He hadn’t been worried about the first man. It was obvious he was trying to kidnap him, and Ian was confident he could escape.
But this man... he wasn’t so sure.
"What’s going on? Is this guy trying to kidnap the kid, too?" The bystanders were confused.
"He doesn’t look like... the type to kidnap a child."
"I think I saw him get out of that black Maybach over there."
The bystanders immediately looked toward the luxury car parked by the side of the road.
’Just who is this man?’
"Where are the kid’s parents?"
"Call the police! Hurry up and call the police, this is something for the cops to handle."
One of the bystanders quickly took out their phone.
Just then, a police car pulled up and stopped by the roadside.
"Ian!" The nanny got out of the car and ran toward Ian Monroe.
Ian Monroe didn’t run to his nanny. Instead, he quickly grabbed a police officer’s hand, pointed toward Evan Fairchild, and said, "Officer, there are two bad guys over there trying to kidnap me! Go get them, quickly!"
’Two bad guys?’
Evan Fairchild was speechless.
’Truly my son, flesh and blood!’
The man Evan Fairchild had been holding couldn’t escape. Seeing the police arrive, he started trembling with fear.
Evan Fairchild let go, and as soon as the man was free, he bolted!
"After him!" a police officer shouted, quickly chasing after the man.
Ian Monroe dashed forward, picked up a water bottle from the ground, and threw it at the man! His reflexes were astonishing!
THWACK! The water bottle hit the back of the man’s head, and he lost control and pitched forward!
The pursuing police officer pinned him down and immediately handcuffed him.
"Nice work, kid!" the other police officer said, looking at Ian Monroe with admiration. "So young, and you’re already catching suspects on your own."
"And him! I don’t know him, either!" Ian Monroe hadn’t forgotten about Evan Fairchild.
"I know his mother. He’s just never met me before," Evan Fairchild explained as he stepped forward.
"No! My mom has never mentioned you to me!" Ian Monroe immediately retorted.
"Sir. We’ll still need you to come with us to the station for questioning. Please cooperate."
Evan Fairchild nodded. He looked over at Ian Monroe.
The little boy met his gaze without a trace of fear.
