Chapter 291: Is President Fairchild More Important?
"Okay." Melody Monroe and Zane Langdon both nodded.
The mention of the group chat reminded Melody Monroe that she hadn’t had a chance to introduce Keith Coleman yet.
"Oh, right, I haven’t introduced him to you all yet. This is Keith Coleman, my personal assistant. We gamed together the other day, but we’ve never met in person."
Jasper Rockwell and Zane Langdon both looked over at Keith Coleman.
’A personal assistant Melody would add directly to the group chat to introduce to them couldn’t be just anyone.’
"Keith Coleman, this is Zane Langdon, this is Jasper Rockwell, this is Sean Coleman—Zane Langdon’s manager—and this is Nola Hughes," Melody Monroe introduced, pointing to each person in turn.
"Hello, everyone. I’m Keith Coleman."
"Hello," Zane Langdon said with a polite nod.
Jasper Rockwell walked right over and sized up Keith Coleman.
’Where did this personal assistant come from? He doesn’t seem like just some guy.’
"We should play again sometime when we’re free. That loss last time was just pathetic!" Jasper Rockwell was still sore about not getting the first-clear reward and title.
"The next dungeon won’t open for more than ten days. I’ll focus on grinding and leveling up until then." Keith Coleman had already been working hard to increase his combat power lately.
"How about we grab some skewers and a few drinks after this is over tonight?" Jasper Rockwell suggested.
"Zane probably can’t spare the time. He has to attend the production launch ceremony tomorrow," Sean Coleman immediately interjected. ’Jasper is so irresponsible. We’re so busy, and he’s still trying to drag Zane out for drinks.’
"It’s fine. I’ll just wake up half an hour earlier tomorrow, it won’t be a problem," Zane Langdon agreed.
Sean Coleman didn’t know what else to say. ’With Melody Monroe here, there was no way Zane Langdon would leave.’
’But Melody’s group hasn’t even agreed to go yet.’
"Rose, are you joining us?" Sean Coleman asked, trying to help Zane Langdon out. He was worried their enthusiasm was one-sided.
Since they had made the offer, Rose Shaw felt it would be rude to refuse. She gave a slight nod. "Sure."
Zane Langdon glanced in Melody Monroe’s direction.
Just then, Melody Monroe’s phone rang. Seeing it was a voice call from Evan Fairchild, she immediately walked off to the side, found a private spot, and answered.
"I’m in Jansburg," Evan Fairchild said, straight to the point.
"Huh?" Melody Monroe was taken aback.
"I haven’t had dinner yet. I’ll pick you up when your event is over, and we can eat together."
"Oh, okay," Melody Monroe agreed.
She walked back over, phone in hand, to find Rose Shaw and the others already discussing where to eat.
"Melody, are you going to join us later?" Zane Langdon asked her, as he still hadn’t received her answer.
"I... I have something to do in a little while, so I probably can’t make it. I’m really sorry." Melody Monroe didn’t want to leave Evan Fairchild hanging.
’He hasn’t even eaten yet!’
’If I leave him hanging, knowing his temper, he’ll probably be too angry to eat at all.’
A flicker of disappointment flashed in Zane Langdon’s eyes. The only reason he had agreed to stay was for Melody Monroe, and now she couldn’t make it.
Rose Shaw glanced at Melody Monroe, not knowing what other arrangements she had. Still, she stepped in to smooth things over. "Even if Melody can’t join, the rest of us can still go."
"Right, right! We can all just take it as a chance to get to know one another," Keith Coleman also chimed in, trying to keep the peace.
"Yeah! If Melody’s busy, she can just join next time," Jasper Rockwell added.
Sean Coleman and Zane Langdon were in no position to refuse, since they were the ones who had made the invitation in the first place.
"I really am sorry," Melody Monroe apologized to Zane Langdon again.
’Zane is probably very busy; for him to make time for a gathering like this is rare. And yet, Evan Fairchild had to show up at this exact moment.’
