Transmigrated as The Best Female Character of the Year

Chapter 273: Lectured by His Son Again

At the company, Melody Monroe was being held down by Lana Sheffield, and Shawn Fisher didn’t seem to care about her in the slightest.

If he really cared, why didn’t he invest in a project for her to star in? Why wasn’t he promoting her more aggressively?

She was far more popular now than Melody Monroe.

Melody Monroe shouldn’t think she can just buy her way onto the trending charts and overshadow her!

...

Over forty days later, Melody Monroe held her brand-new driver’s license, unable to contain her excitement.

’I’m a licensed driver now!’

Evan Fairchild and Ian Monroe stood in front of the car, their eyes fixed on Melody Monroe.

The atmosphere between the two had improved significantly. This was mainly because Melody had been spending every day with them, and they had both been getting her full and undivided attention.

"Ian, what if your mom could always be like this from now on, without having to be busy with filming? Wouldn’t that be nice?" Evan Fairchild asked his son.

"You’re dreaming," Ian Monroe said, shaking his head. "I don’t think that’s possible."

"Why not? All it takes is for your mom to become Mrs. Fairchild."

"So, that’s what you’re planning."

"Is there a problem with that?"

"Are you thinking that once Mom becomes Mrs. Fairchild, you’ll just make her stay home every day to cook and do laundry for you? No! I want Mom to be a superstar! I want her to always be glamorous!"

Evan Fairchild felt a lump form in his throat.

"Mr. Fairchild, our current one-day-each arrangement is actually still unfair! You’re always around on my day, but I’m not there on your day. And I haven’t even complained to you about it!"

Evan Fairchild’s chest tightened again.

"I’m telling you, don’t you dare try to use me in your schemes. Mom has to work, she has to act, and she has to do what she loves. If you try to use me to get what you want again, I’ll go to a boarding school on my own accord!"

Ian Monroe’s little face was taut and very serious.

Looking at the little rascal before him, a thought suddenly crossed Evan Fairchild’s mind.

’What was I like when I was his age?’

’Was I this irritating?’

’No, that’s impossible. The whole family adored me; they couldn’t get enough of me. How could I have been irritating?’

’His Melody must have been adorable as a child, too.’

’Ian must have just gone astray on his own. It has nothing to do with his parents.’

Having finally finished admiring her driver’s license, Melody Monroe walked toward the father and son in front of the car.

"Mr. Fairchild, look!" Melody said, handing the license to Evan Fairchild to share in her joy.

Evan Fairchild took it and glanced at it.

’It’s not a marriage certificate. What’s there to be so happy about?’

"Get in the car. I’m taking you somewhere."

"Where to?"

"You’ll know when we get there."

An hour later, they arrived at a car dealership.

Someone was already there waiting for them.

The person led the three of them directly to the VIP lounge.

Melody Monroe sat on the sofa, glanced around, and whispered to Evan Fairchild beside her, "Mr. Fairchild, what are we doing here?"

"Picking up a car."

"Picking up a car?"

"Picking up your car."

Just as Evan Fairchild finished speaking, the customer service manager who had led them in returned, beaming at Melody Monroe.

"Mrs. Fairchild, here are your car keys."

Melody Monroe took the car keys, stunned.

"Is this... a Bentley?" Melody asked, uncertain.

The customer manager smiled and nodded. "A Bentley Continental. It’s a perfect car for a lady."

All Melody cared about was how much the car cost!

"Let’s go see the car," Evan Fairchild said, taking Melody’s hand as he stood up.

"Mr. Fairchild, Mrs. Fairchild, right this way."

Ian Monroe followed behind them, feeling a pang of jealousy.

’Mr. Fairchild bought Mom a car, but my allowance has been cut. I have so little now, it’s pathetic. I don’t even know what I can possibly give Mom anymore.’
