Chapter 309: Out of Control
Evan Fairchild turned and walked to the computer.
Everyone had been spacing out, but when Evan Fairchild suddenly appeared, they all snapped to attention, ready for the meeting to resume.
"Alright, that’s all for today’s meeting." After speaking, Evan Fairchild shut down the video call and walked back over to Melody Monroe.
Melody Monroe stared at him, stunned.
"I’ll show you how." Evan Fairchild took out the tea leaves. "My method is the simplest. My dad can’t stand the way I make tea. He says it’s completely unorthodox."
Melody Monroe just smiled. She was even more clueless when it came to tea.
"But," he added, "I’ve never seen him refuse a cup."
Evan Fairchild finished brewing the tea and handed a cup to Melody Monroe.
"Thank you." Melody Monroe accepted it and took a sip. "I’m even worse at distinguishing the flavors of tea. It all tastes the same to me."
"It’s not like you’re in the tea business. It doesn’t matter if you can tell the difference. Just drink whatever you like."
Evan Fairchild took a step closer to Melody Monroe and clasped her hand.
Melody Monroe lowered her head, not daring to meet his direct, fiery gaze.
The atmosphere suddenly shifted.
Evan Fairchild slowly leaned in toward Melody Monroe...
Suddenly, a phone rang. Melody Monroe immediately took a step back. "That’s my phone. I have to take this call."
A flicker of disappointment crossed Evan Fairchild’s face. He leaned against the desk, picked up the cup of tea Melody hadn’t finished, and took a sip.
"Really? Rose, okay, I’ll be right there." Melody Monroe hung up, her voice filled with excitement. She turned to Evan Fairchild. "Mr. Fairchild, I just got an invitation from a show’s production team. I have to go discuss the details right now!"
Evan Fairchild’s brow furrowed slightly.
’Which production team was this?’
Melody Monroe picked up her phone and sent a message to Winter Kane.
She then began to gather her things. In less than ten minutes, she had changed her clothes and grabbed her bag. Looking at Evan Fairchild, she said, "I asked Winter Kane to pick me up. He’s almost here."
"Go on, then," Evan Fairchild said with a smile and a nod.
’It’s not like the deal will go through, anyway.’
Just as Melody Monroe left, Evan Fairchild’s phone also rang.
"President Fairchild, Rose Shaw received an invitation from a show’s production team. I’m heading over now to get the details."
"Mm," Evan Fairchild acknowledged with a nod.
’He would wait for Melody Monroe to return. Then, when she was disappointed, he would be sure to comfort her properly.’
Rose Shaw was now at Jansburg East Television. As one of the most popular television networks in the country, Jansburg East Satellite TV consistently maintained very high ratings.
They produced many of their own programs, and lately, their variety shows, reality shows, and entertainment programs had become incredibly popular.
A planning team at Jansburg East Television was preparing to launch a new variety show, which was currently in the preliminary planning stages.
Coincidentally, the person in charge of these preparations turned out to be one of Rose Shaw’s childhood friends!
The two of them hadn’t seen each other in over twenty years!
"If you hadn’t said my name, I never would have recognized you! You’ve changed so much." Rose Shaw looked at the over six-foot-tall Felix Hughes before her, still unable to reconcile the boy she once knew with the man he was now.
The difference was just too great.
Felix Hughes smiled sheepishly.
In that simple, good-natured shyness, Rose Shaw instantly saw a glimpse of the boy he used to be.
"But you haven’t changed at all."
Rose Shaw’s eyes stung. ’How could I not have changed?’ she thought. ’I feel like I’ve died and been reborn.’
"I’ve actually changed quite a bit," she said. "I’m surprised you recognized me at a glance."
"Of course I’d recognize you."
"I’ve been in Jansburg for many years and have dealt with people from your station before, but I’ve never seen you. Were you just transferred to work in Jansburg?"
