Chapter 310: My Head on a Platter
"Yeah, I’ve been here for less than a month. I used to work at Capital Television."
"Impressive! I didn’t realize you transferred from Capital Television. You’re probably married, right?"
"I’m not." Felix Hughes shook his head and quickly asked, "What about you?"
"I’m not either."
"That’s great."
"What?" Rose Shaw didn’t quite hear what he said. His voice was a little quiet.
"Oh, it’s... it’s nothing."
Following Rose Shaw’s directions, Melody Monroe found the small lounge area.
"Rose."
"Melody, you’re here. Come, let me introduce you. This is Felix Hughes, the director of program planning at Jansburg East Television."
"Director Hughes, hello." Melody Monroe immediately extended her hand in greeting.
Felix Hughes sized her up, then looked back at Rose Shaw. "Rose, is Melody Monroe your younger sister?"
Rose Shaw’s expression stiffened.
Melody Monroe was also taken aback. ’Felix Hughes? I don’t think a character with that name exists!’ She wracked her brain, but couldn’t recall him at all.
Felix Hughes had only recently heard of Melody Monroe.
When he learned that Melody Monroe’s agent was Rose Shaw, he had assumed that Rose had found the sister she’d lost contact with.
Melody Monroe was exceptionally beautiful, but when standing next to her, Rose Shaw wasn’t completely overshadowed. They each had their own unique charm.
Both had high-bridged noses, and their facial features bore some resemblance to each other.
Rose Shaw looked at Felix Hughes, his question leaving her at a loss for words.
"Melody!" A voice called out from a distance.
Keith Coleman came running over.
"Did you call Keith Coleman?" Rose Shaw asked Melody Monroe.
"No, I didn’t," Melody Monroe quickly shook her head.
"Finally found you. And this is...?" Keith Coleman looked from Felix Hughes to Rose Shaw. ’Are these two involved somehow?’
The look Felix Hughes was giving Rose Shaw was incredibly clingy.
"This is the director of program planning for Jansburg East Television, and this is my personal assistant, Keith Coleman," Melody Monroe quickly made the introductions.
"Hello."
"Hello."
The two men greeted each other.
"I’ll send you the specific details about the show in a bit. It’s fantastic that you’re willing to join. I should warn you, though, the shoot can be incredibly demanding."
"I’m not afraid of hard work," Melody Monroe said at once. She was only afraid of being idle every day with nothing to do.
"Then let me give you a general overview of the show. It’s an outdoor survival live broadcast, which means guests might be on camera twenty-four hours a day. At the start, guests will draw lots to determine their supplies. They’ll have to live in the wild for a full month, completing hidden missions assigned by the production team. The contestant with the highest score wins."
"That sounds really interesting." Melody Monroe thought the show sounded like fun, just like a video game.
It was a reality show, though, and one that involved wilderness survival.
Short videos about wilderness survival and returning to a simpler way of life had been very popular lately.
This show essentially fused all of those concepts, while also adding many other popular elements. It was incredibly creative.
"This kind of show is a huge test of the guests’ physical fitness and survival skills. Plus, it’s in the wild. Even if the production team considers safety and doesn’t put you in the deep wilderness, there will still be unknown dangers. Melody, shouldn’t we reconsider?" Keith Coleman asked.
’If President Fairchild finds out Melody is doing a show like this, he’ll have my head!’
’Just who is this Felix Hughes?!’
