"I don’t see a problem with it. Rose, what do you you think?" Melody Monroe asked.

Keith Coleman desperately shot glances at Rose Shaw.

"I think it’s great, and I happen to be free. When do we sign the contract?" Rose Shaw asked Felix Hughes, completely ignoring Keith Coleman.

"We still need to finalize the details of the show. We should be able to do that next week. We also need more guests. We’re using an elimination format, so we need a larger pool of guests to start—around twenty or so. We’ve only confirmed a little over ten so far. As soon as there’s news, I’ll let you know."

"Okay, I’ll wait to hear from you." Rose Shaw nodded. "Well, we won’t keep you from your work."

"Rose, can I get your number? Let’s add each other on WeChat."

"Oh, right. I almost forgot." Rose Shaw immediately pulled out her phone.

Keith Coleman felt a pang of jealousy watching this. It had taken a lot just to get Rose Shaw to add him on WeChat, and when he had excitedly gone to check her Moments, he’d discovered she’d probably made them private from him.

He peeked over and saw that when Rose added this Felix Hughes, she didn’t change any settings at all!

He was seriously annoyed.

"Melody, do you mind if I add you too?"

"Of course," Melody Monroe said, quickly pulling out her phone.

"Add me, too," Keith Coleman said, immediately holding out his phone.

Felix Hughes had no choice but to scan his QR code.

"Rose, are you free tonight? We should grab dinner," Felix Hughes invited. "It’s been so many years. It’d be nice to catch up."

"Sure. I know Jansburg better than you do, so it’s my treat."

"Sounds good," Felix Hughes agreed with a nod.

When Melody Monroe, Rose Shaw, and Keith Coleman got to the parking garage, Rose said to Melody, "I have something to take care of, and since Keith’s here, you can get a ride back with him."

"Okay." Melody Monroe nodded.

"You’ll be at the hotel tonight, right?" Rose Shaw asked.

A flicker of awkwardness crossed Melody Monroe’s face. She nodded. "I will be." She had been staying at Evan Fairchild’s place recently, and while Rose hadn’t asked any questions, there was no way she hadn’t guessed.

’Did she bring this up today because she needs me for something?’

"I’m heading out," Rose Shaw said, walking toward her car.

"Should we get going?" Melody Monroe turned and found Keith Coleman staring after Rose Shaw, completely mesmerized. "Keith, let’s go!"

"Oh, right. My car’s this way," Keith Coleman said, pointing in a direction.

So Rose Shaw was trying to steal President Fairchild’s girl.

Tonight, President Fairchild was in for a lonely, sleepless night.

The two of them got in the car and drove out of the garage.

"Melody, I have a question for you."

"What is it?" Melody Monroe looked over at Keith Coleman.

"Has Rose ever studied martial arts? Boxing, or something like that?"

"I think so. She trained under Victor Vaughn. His martial arts school is really famous—they have branches in both Rockwellburg and Jansburg. And get this, Rose is Master Vaughn’s last and final disciple!"

"What does it take to become the final disciple?"

"They say the requirements are incredibly strict, but I don’t know the exact details." Melody Monroe looked Keith Coleman up and down. "You want to study martial arts, too?"

"I do."

"Are you planning on challenging Rose to a fight?"

"No. At least then I’d be able to take a beating better."

Melody Monroe laughed; Keith Coleman could be pretty funny sometimes. ’For him to say that...’ she wondered, ’does that mean Rose has already beaten him up?’

"Melody, do you know what the deal is between that Felix Hughes guy and Rose?" Keith asked again.
