Chapter 124: 10 Meters Away, Can’t Tell Male From Female
Christopher Sterling was the one who had saved Rose Shaw from a living hell all those years ago. Rose had always adored him from afar, but she never dared to reveal her feelings.
Christopher Sterling would probably be announcing his wedding soon. His bride-to-be was from a truly prominent family—an heiress of the Sheffield Family.
It seemed Rose Shaw wouldn’t be able to escape the heartbreak this year.
After seeing Rose Shaw off, Raymond Ford glanced in Melody Monroe’s direction.
In terms of popularity and status, Melody Monroe was miles behind her. Raymond wouldn’t even give the endorsements Melody took a second glance.
But seeing Rose Shaw give her own car to Melody Monroe today filled her with jealousy. It wasn’t that Raymond wanted the car—she would have refused it herself, thinking it beneath her—but the fact that Melody got it just rubbed her the wrong way.
’Has Melody Monroe gone completely broke?!’
’Every time she appeared in public before, she was always so glamorous! Why the sudden modest act?’
’Not long ago, Raymond had her eye on a dress so expensive she had to think twice about buying it, yet Melody Monroe had bought it without batting an eye.’
’And now she’s accepting a beat-up used car from Rose Shaw!’
’Rose Shaw’s used car only cost about 200,000 when she bought it, and that was years ago. Isn’t Melody afraid of embarrassing herself by being seen in a car like that?’
Raymond Ford owned a car herself—a Maserati worth over a million.
Buying it had nearly been the death of her.
She had only just started making a name for herself and had a lot of expenses, so she had no choice but to finance it.
’You can always earn more money, but you can’t lose face!’
Raymond Ford felt that the less she could figure Melody Monroe out, the more uneasy she became.
...
An international flight landed on time in Jansburg. A man in his thirties, dressed in trendy clothes, walked out of the airport pulling a suitcase.
Tommy, standing in the distance, immediately spotted the distinctive figure in the crowd.
A cutout sweater, casual slim-fit trousers, and shiny patent leather ankle boots. A scarf was draped around his neck, and on his head sat a hat with a green feather tucked into it.
From ten meters away, it was impossible to tell if he was a man or a woman.
"Kaen!" Tommy shouted toward the figure.
Keith Coleman looked ahead and quickened his pace.
"Tommy, long time no see! I’ve missed you like crazy! Isn’t this President Fairchild’s car? Is he in there?"
"You’re that eager to see President Fairchild?"
"I don’t want to! I’m only here because I was forced to be! I’m more pitiful than one of those girls in old stories who has to sell herself to pay for her father’s funeral!" Keith Coleman said with a look of resignation. "If you told me right now that President Fairchild doesn’t need me anymore, I wouldn’t even leave the airport. I’d just wait for the next flight back, believe it or not."
"I believe you. Get in. President Fairchild is waiting."
An hour later, Keith Coleman was in Evan Fairchild’s office. He sat ramrod straight on the sofa with his hands folded on his knees, the very picture of obedience.
"President Fairchild, you called, and I dropped everything. I flew straight back without a moment’s hesitation!"
Evan Fairchild stood up, took out an elegant file folder, and placed it in front of Keith Coleman.
Keith Coleman opened the file, and his eyes immediately landed on the photograph inside.
"Wow, a real beauty! Absolutely stunning! Are you sure this face is all-natural?"
"AHEM!!!" Tommy cleared his throat pointedly.
Keith Coleman immediately got the message and asked in a low voice, "Is this a new artist President Fairchild just signed? Does he want me to be her manager?"
"She isn’t a Starfall artist. And she already has a manager and a team."
"Then what am I supposed to do?" Keith Coleman was completely baffled. He shot a look at Tommy, hoping for a hint.
Tommy stared intently at the tips of his shoes, conveniently "offline."
"Right now, your only job is to scrub all negative news about her and build up her fanbase."
"That’s it?" Keith Coleman felt insulted.
