Melody lay down, and the little guy immediately snuggled into her arms.

Melody had planned to wait for Ian to fall asleep before going to find Evan Fairchild.

But in the end, Ian Monroe successfully lulled her to sleep instead.

Seeing his mother was asleep, Ian Monroe quietly slipped out of bed, locked the door from the inside, then climbed back in and nestled against his mom, drifting off peacefully.

At 6:30 in the morning, the alarm went off.

Melody shot up in bed. Ian Monroe was already up and washing his face and brushing his teeth.

"Mommy, good morning." Ian Monroe, who was in the middle of brushing his teeth, heard the alarm and immediately ran to the bathroom door to greet his mother.

"Morning, sweetie." Melody stretched. She had slept incredibly well next to Ian, and she woke up feeling refreshed.

She walked into the bathroom to get ready with Ian.

Once they were both dressed, they went downstairs, where Auntie Lana had already prepared a sumptuous breakfast.

Melody and Ian had just sat down at the dining table when Evan Fairchild came down the stairs.

A pair of wrinkle-free suit trousers perfectly outlined his long, straight legs, paired with a clean, crisp white shirt—a classic combination one could never tire of seeing.

Melody couldn’t help but stare a little longer.

"Mommy, eat your breakfast," Ian Monroe called out immediately.

That brought Melody back to her senses. "You hurry and eat too, Ian."

Evan Fairchild glanced at the suitcase by the door before turning and walking toward the dining room.

"Good morning, Mr. Fairchild," Melody initiated, then gestured to Ian Monroe.

Ian Monroe suddenly flashed a perfect, practiced smile. "Good morning, Mr. Fairchild."

Evan Fairchild: ...

’He suddenly realized he couldn’t even win against a child!’

’And this was his own son, no less.’

’Just look at how well-behaved he’s acting!’

’He refused to believe that Ian Monroe could be this obedient!’

’He was definitely putting on an act for Melody!’

’And if he were to stoop to a child’s level, he would be the one in the wrong!’

’Great! First thing in the morning, and this little brat had already made him so angry he’d lost his appetite.’

"Mr. Fairchild, I’d like to take Ian to kindergarten in a bit, and then head straight to the airport."

"Mm," Evan Fairchild nodded.

Melody lowered her head and continued eating her breakfast.

"Mommy, I’m full."

"I’m full too. Let’s get going." Melody glanced at Evan Fairchild, about to say her goodbyes, but he stood up as well and instructed Ian, "Ian Monroe, go get your backpack."

"Mr... Mr. Fairchild..." Melody said, surprised. Before she could finish, Evan Fairchild cut her off.

"I’ll take you to the airport. I can drop Ian Monroe off at his kindergarten along the way."

Melody froze for a second, but Evan Fairchild was already walking out the door.

Ian Monroe slung his backpack on, a look of displeasure on his face. ’Why is Mr. Fairchild everywhere?!’

Melody took Ian Monroe’s little hand and led him toward the door. "Hurry and put on your shoes. We shouldn’t keep Mr. Fairchild waiting."

Evan Fairchild pulled the car around, then got out and opened a door.

The moment Ian Monroe climbed in, the door was shut with a SLAM.

Evan Fairchild then opened the passenger side door. "Get in."

"Thank you," Melody said quickly, getting into the passenger seat.

Ian Monroe: ...

’Dad isn’t just useless, he’s a bad dad!’

Evan Fairchild got in, started the engine, and the car slowly pulled away.

"You don’t have a driver’s license?"

"No," Melody nodded.

"You should find some time to get your license."

"That was my plan. But it will depend on my schedule."

"Let me know when you’ve figured out your schedule."

"Oh, okay."

Ten minutes later, they arrived at the kindergarten.
