Chapter 77: The Journey (Part 2)
The three siblings froze and instinctively turned to look at the man at the same time.
The person who had come to rob them was another malnourished figure.
After spending a few weeks at their new place and without the rations from the imperial guards, the servants and Ye family members except for the second branch, had become a lot thinner compared to when they had just arrived at the abandoned village.
However, despite his slightly thin arms and feet, the man had a ferocious expression and didn’t seem that weak.
He wasn’t alone. There were a few more men behind him, eyeing them greedily. Perhaps these people must have been attracted by their well-fed appearance.
"Why should we?" Ye Lanxi scowled.
As soon as he said these words, these people attacked them.
Ye Lanxi was already planning to protect his weak siblings behind him, but he was astonished to find Ye Lingyue already gleefully taking care of one of the bandits.
She had him sprawled on the ground, still stunned because he apparently didn’t expect that the only girl among the three would possess such a strength.
The pause was only temporary. Soon, they were engaged in the fight again.
Ye Lingrui kept evading their attack, smiling the whole time. It drove these bandits crazy. He always knew where they were going to hit next and evaded it effortlessly.
By the time they were so frustrated that they subconsciously lowered their guards, they would find themselves also sprawling on the dirty ground.
"You wench, let go of me!" A bandit cursed, causing Ye Lingyue to press his head harder to the ground.
She chuckled happily as she withdrew her feet, turning to the other bandits. Ye Lanxi had the most number of bandits surrounding him, and he easily took care of them.
"Hand over your things!" Ye Lingyue mimicked the first bandit’s tone and started to search for some valuables on their clothes.
The bandits were stunned. They had come to rob them, why did it become them getting robbed now?
They thought that as long as these three abnormal people left, they would only need to nurse their wounds for a while before they could go back to their job, but...
"Yue’er, grab his necklace. It’s worth a lot of money!"
"He is hiding some silver taels in his pocket... check the other pocket too... not that one."
"The bracelet can also be sold for a decent amount of money..."
Ye Lingrui was going around the bandits on the floor who had found themselves couldn’t move much, snatching this or that as he occasionally crouched down.
These people were alarmed at how easily he could pinpoint where their valuables were.
Ye Lanxi also joined, but his method was more rough. He directly tore open their clothes to find some secret pockets, and also forcefully snatched their jewellry.
Not long after, the siblings finally gathered a small hill of treasures. They had a satisfied look on their faces.
"No wonder some people rob others." Ye Lanxi muttered. "It’s quite fun!"
Ye Lingyue nudged him, her eyelids twitching.
Realizing she might ’accidentally’ tell their parents about it, he immediately corrected himself. "Of course, we should only do it to people who want to rob us first. A tit for that!"
Soon, they left the bandits, humming and bouncing.
Meanwhile, the bandits had tears streaming down their faces. They went for wool and came back shorn! Just look at them; they didn’t even have proper clothing.
Their sandals, upper clothes were gone.
"Your clothes can be used for rags... these sandals... some people might be interested in buying them. Let’s take them all!" They had heard Ye Lanxi muttering as he nearly took away all of their items, not even sparing their clothes.
If not because of the presence of the only girl, they suspected he might also go for their underwear!
They had kicked an iron plate; these people were even more qualified to be bandits than them!
"Sell these things once we arrive at the market," Ye Lanxi muttered.
Ye Lingyue nodded. Such a great harvest! She proceeded to transfer their harvest to her storage space, quite satisfied with the result.
They continued again. The closer they were toward the market, the more they encountered bandit attacks.
The three siblings had now become more proficient in taking the bandits’ items, and they had taken down quite a number of bandit groups.
These bandits also suffered some trauma, vowing that once they saw these three terrifying siblings, they would turn around and run as far as possible.
They thought they had found fat sheep, but they turned out to be wild lions!
"We will take revenge on you!" One bandit roared at the Ye siblings. "Release us! What are you doing to us?"
This wave of bandit’s attack had more people compared to the previous ones, just as they approximately only needed one more day to arrive at the market.
The amount of wealth they gathered was finally enough to buy a lot of supplies that could last them for a while. These bandits were looking for supplies, but they also weren’t going to let go of other valuables.
"You are dreaming," Ye Lanxi snorted. "Why should we release you bandits?"
"There are a lot of more people behind us. Do you want to go against us?!" One bandit threatened.
Ye Lanxi simply pulled a rag and stuffed the dirty cloth into his mouth. "Noisy!"
"You all barely win against us. If there are more people surrounding you all, wouldn’t you be dead already?!"
"We will bring our people to find you!"
Although their words were unpleasant, they were actually right. This last batch of bandits had more people with them, more than the several batches combined.
They needed to rely on the poisons before they finally could restrain them.
The three siblings ignored them and picked up the bandits’ valuable items before they continued their journey to the market.
A day later, they finally arrived.
