Chapter 76: The Journey (Part 1)
Ye Lanxi didn’t even look at him. "Does it matter where we are going?"
Steward Du’s face changed, but his years of working at their mansion made him an expert at controlling his face. He looked like he didn’t take offense at Ye Lanxi’s words, still wearing the kind look on his face.
"Forgive this humble one for being worried for three of you, Young Master," he muttered. "We only have so many members in this village, so naturally we should take care of each other."
"You, taking care of us?" Ye Lanxi sneered. "Did you quit that job over two months ago?"
He motioned toward his younger siblings, urging them. "Let’s go."
With that, they ignored Steward Du, who clenched his fists as he stared at their backs with a pair of eyes filled with hate.
He hated these arrogant nobles the most... even after they fell into ruins, they still acted high and mighty. His eyes glinted as he thought of something.
"If you meet that rebellious scoundrel again, just ignore him," Ye Lanxi snorted. "He thinks he got some kind of promotion just by controlling the servants."
They continued to walk with Ye Lingrui’s pointer.
Previously, Shen Jingyi also insisted on going with them, but they persuaded her by showing all of the poisons the twins had created. Ye Lanxi also pulled out the dagger Ye Lingyue had once given him.
After a long effort, they finally succeeded in going there by themselves. If their mother joined, they wouldn’t be that free.
"We should get your friends to come with us after we arrive at the market, Second Brother," Ye Lingyue muttered. "We still have some money."
Ye Lanxi furrowed his brows. "My friends?"
"The oxen..." she grinned, shrugging her shoulders.
A second later, she dashed away, evading Ye Lanxi’s evil claw.
"Come here you little brat!" Ye Lanxi yelled as he chased after her.
Ye Lingrui was the calmest one, putting his hands on the back of his head in a relaxed manner, occasionally humming. It was going to be lunch soon, and they definitely needed to stop for a while.
They still did it as usual, hunting games in the forest, but this time Ye Lanxi and Ye Lingyue didn’t let themselves lose the track of time. There was Ye Lingrui to remind them of it.
A few days passed like a breeze, and also thanks to Ye Lingrui, they evaded a lot of dangerous wild animals passing by.
Ye Lanxi almost got himself entangled by a huge snake, but Ye Lingrui pulled him away in time. They ended up running away until they nearly lost their breath.
These dangerous entities thus served as a reminder that they should be more careful.
On the third night, they began to encounter some people. They were back on the road after they previously picked a shortcut by going through the forest.
"Give me all of your bundles," Ye Lingyue told her brothers.
Ye Lanxi was confused, wondering what she was going to do with them, but seeing Ye Lingrui handing over his item so obediently, he finally did the same.
A few seconds later, he thought he was dreaming.
His eyes scanned the ground around them and also the farther surroundings. The bundles... had disappeared.
"Lingyue, where did you dump our things?!" His expression cracked slightly. "Don’t play tricks like that!"
She rolled her eyes. "Second Brother, you were watching me the whole time like a hawk, so when did I have the time to dump away your junk?"
Her twin brother was already aware of the space’s existence. If she wanted to hoard more supplies from the market, she needed to be able to move easily.
After she consulted Ye Lingrui, she decided to tell Ye Lanxi about it. She was quite tired for always had to hide from him.
"Although Second Brother is reckless, a loudmouth, and sometimes unreliable, you can trust him," Ye Lingrui had told her back then.
She was quite speechless because no one of the things he listed was considered a good trait. How was she supposed to trust him with such a personality?
However, when she remembered the little good things about him—which needed around three days to find—she decided to let Ye Lanxi know regarding the space’s existence.
"Then, where did it go?" He stared at Ye Lingyue’s face suspiciously, not letting go of any clues from her expression. He also turned to Ye Lingrui. "Did you see where she had hidden it?"
The moment he turned to her again, Ye Lanxi blinked a few times. His bundle was actually there again.
"How did you–"
Then, under his watchful eyes, it disappeared again.
Ye Lingrui curled the corners of his lips when he saw his younger sister had so much fun playing pranks on their second brother.
"Is this how you hid all these supplies?" Ye Lanxi breathed out. "The games too?"
She slowly nodded. "Second Brother, you finally figured it out! Not bad, not bad!"
His lips twitched. "How did you do it?"
The concept of a dimensional storage space was still foreign for all these ancient people, so Ye Lingyue didn’t continue to make fun of him and explained.
"So, I have this storage dimension that can store many things. The wild chickens, rabbits, and..."
After she was done, Ye Lanxi still had an astonished look on his face.
She crossed her hands over her chest. "How is? Awesome, right?"
He turned to Ye Lingrui; the latter didn’t seem surprised. "Lingrui already knew about it?"
The twins nodded at the same time.
It made him a little indignant. "You didn’t even consider telling me? When did you get this magical thing? Will it hurt you?"
Ye Lingyue raised her eyebrows at questions.
"You are the second person to know about this. Don’t tell anyone for the time being," Ye Lingrui told him.
At this point, Ye Lingyue was no longer surprised if her twin brother really could read her mind.
"I..."
Before he could continue his words, they heard a gruff voice. "Hand over these things in your hands!"
