Chapter 1222 - 489: The Three Overlords (Part 2)
"Now you stand before me, explaining my failure? You, the thief who stole my success."
"Stealing? Thief?" Sarunster glanced at him and suddenly sneered dismissively, "No, devouring. I’d rather call it seizing. If you have the ability, you can seize it back."
Upon hearing this, Devouring Mouth remained calm and didn’t rebuke further. Clearly, this conversation had occurred countless times.
"Enough, I’m here to discuss serious matters. You must have noticed, the rift is getting smaller. The Abyssal aura here is also starting to weaken, and the chaotic space is slowly becoming orderly.
If we don’t act now, we will only grow weaker, and our advantage will disappear.
The war of thousands of years will turn into defeat, and we will fail miserably."
As he spoke, he squinted at Sarunster and said, "Even you can’t afford the consumption of so many years of war now, right?
The number of demons in your Abyssal Level has dropped sharply, and quite a few Lords are eyeing you greedily.
Just as you said, they want to seize."
Honestly, I’d love to see you end up in the same situation as me. I really want to see the expression on your proud face then."
At this point, Devouring Mouth grinned.
Sarunster glanced at him, remaining calm. Compared to the cunning and treacherous Devouring Mouth, he behaved less like a demon.
He lacked the anger and rashness a demon should have.
"Since you’re here, bring Aimelon too."
The demon standing behind him nodded, crossed space, and disappeared.
Soon, a huge space rift appeared above the two, and a massive demon fell from above.
With a loud crash, it landed beside them.
Once the dust cleared,
they saw it was a Dragonman covered in pitch-black scales and limbs full of ferocious bone spurs.
Cracks on its body flowed with lava, and a pair of devil-like dragon horns protruded from its head, wildly exaggerated.
The most conspicuous feature on its back was an enormous double-edged Giant Axe.
Its strength was comparable to Devouring Mouth, maybe even superior.
From its aura, it was clear this was an existence from the Abyss.
These three strong demons before them are the dominant entities among the World Scar demons.
"Both of you are here? Haha, what’s the matter?"
Its voice was rough and resonant, carrying an aggressive soundwave even when speaking.
Devouring Mouth looked at it disdainfully.
"If you look at me like that again, I’ll rip your wings off and hang them at my bedpost."
"Bed? Such a civilized thing for you. You probably don’t have the brains to sleep on a bed, right?"
Just exchanging a few words, the tension between the two quickly escalated, seeming ready for a fight at any moment.
"It seems this world is beyond our grasp." Sarunster calmly said.
and incidentally interrupted the two’s conflict, turning to look at him.
Devouring Mouth couldn’t help but laugh, "Finally figured it out, willing to let go of your useless pride?"
"Why? I’m having fun killing on the front lines. Did something happen?"
Aimelon seemed entirely oblivious to the environment they were in now.
He behaved like a reckless figure purely interested in battle.
Perfectly fitting the stereotype of demons.
"This world, although once glorious, is now shattered. I thought our combined strength was enough.
Yet, after all these years, we’ve achieved little, now even losing our rightful advantage."
"And this... is all your fault, you fool."
Sarunster, hesitatingly cursed directly at Devouring Mouth.
Only then did he expose his chaotic demon nature.
In response, Devouring Mouth charged forward, the two immediately clashing in battle.
Aimelon, seeing the commotion, licked his teeth with the enormous dragon tongue. Instantly drew the Giant Axe from his back, unfurled his huge dragon wings, and soared into the sky.
He unexpectedly joined the battle.
With the skirmish among the three, many demons below perished, and countless began dispersing, avoiding their fight.
Even the most battle-loving and brutal demons wouldn’t want to join in their leaders’ assault.
The original lava peak and throne atop it started crumbling within the battle.
Unknown how long they’ve fought, the three bore some wounds and finally ceased.
At some point, the shattered lava peak was reconstructed, and the once broken throne was repaired.
"I told you, once they repaired the wall and for hundreds of years after we gained no worthwhile achievements and were stuck in a stalemate, our defeat was inevitable." Devouring Mouth, scarred, said calmly beside.
As if their recent battle hadn’t transpired.
"Oh, seems you endured great failures while I was away?" Next to them, Aimelon finally understood, speaking with laughter. His voice full of schadenfreude, not at all hard to accept their disadvantage.
After a few words, he couldn’t help but say, "But was it worth it? For such a shattered world?"
Honestly, he joined their small group invading this world when humans began counterattacking, trying to build the Demon Defense Wall.
