Trinitas Mundus

Episode XXXI: Memories I Can't Remember

After breakfast, Ashley and the others, equipped, headed to the village chief's house where Valeria was located.

Until yesterday the rain had stopped completely and the sky was blue and clear.

The wind stroking his cheeks was not as cold and damp as it had been until yesterday, but rather warm, early summer winds.

(I hope this weather continues... by the way, what are we going to do today? Even if I say we take a break, it'll be about you and the horses, and what do we do?

In the village chief's house, Valeria, Hamish and Alberic were colluding with a man who looked like a village chief.

Alberic, who found Ashley, invites her. And then I hooked her up with a good-width man with a slightly thinner head in his early fifties.

"Ash, it's Mr. Osborne, the village chief. This is Hamish's only daughter, Ashley Markat."

To Alberic's forceful introduction, Ashley bows her head with a bitter laugh.

"I'm Ashley Markat. Thanks for offering me the lodging last night."

"Because you are Master Hamish's daughter? You did something sorry about that. You could have stayed with us..."

"You don't have to worry about me. I keep one squad, too."

"You're young, but that's Hamish's son," Osborne said, impressing him frequently, but Ashley flushes lightly and confirms Valeria's plans for today.

Valeria said, "I can rest my horse today," after looking at Osborne,

"Lord Osborne has allowed me to unleash my horses on the sheep's grazing lands. The horse's turn and the luggage's turn are yours to do, so there's nothing special to do today."

Ashley bowed her head to Valeria and decided to take their horses to the grazing land.

The grazing land was just north of the village and the horse pullers of the wagon had already been released.

They take horses there too.

"Free movement from now until night, but don't go too far."

Hal said he was headed to a friend in another squad, went to another private house, and Renzi said, "I'm tired, so I'm going to bed," and went back to Enos' house.

The three men, Ray, Ashley and Stella, sat on a tree bench at the edge of the grazing land and watched the horses.

Ray looks up at the blue sky and speaks to Ashley.

"It's pretty tough, mercenary work. But it's fun."

Ashley also looked up at the sky,

"Right. I've never been a squad leader before, too. I think I just found out how hard it was for my father and the captains... but it's rewarding."

"How's Stella?

Stella cruised slightly to Ray's inquiry before

"It's fun... with both of you, no, with all of you..."

"Yes, that's good. Mr. Renzi and Hal both seem to enjoy being with Stella, and sometimes I think we can just go in and talk."

She stared at his side, whispering,

"But I'm not sure what to tell you... I can talk a little bit with Master Ray..."

Ray puts his hand on Stella's head.

"Because you don't have to. You can talk if you want. Even if you can't talk, as usual, you just have to laugh."

Stella looks strange at the words.

"Am I laughing? Against what?"

"You don't have to think hard. Because it just feels fun on my face..."

Ashley listened to the conversation,

(Ray takes a good look. I hadn't noticed at all...... is there a feeling in my mind that Stella doesn't want me to take a ray?

Relaxed time flies by.

Ray suddenly remembered that he was concerned.

"I'm talking about demons up ahead, but what kind of guys are demons?

"Right. First, I want you to tell me about the demons you know."

"What, mine?

(What are you going to do? Well, because I was writing a novel and I told you I remember the setting somewhat...)

"Right. The Demon Nation has a" Ghost Nation ”and a" Demon Nation ”. The Ghosts..."

His explanation is that the ghost tribe is a subhuman with features of ghostly demons such as the little ghost Goblin, the medium ghost Orc, the big ghost Orga, and the cow ghost Minotaur, close to the beast man against the beast. Naturally, it also inherits its its fighting power, and the Great Ghost Nation and others are very combative because they are huge about three meters tall and weapons can also be used like humans.

The demonic system, also known as the Winged Demons, includes the Moon Demons, the Succubus, the Dream Demons, etc., and having small wings like bats on the back becomes an exterior feature. He also has a magical talent over elves, especially the Succubus and Dream Demons, who are excellent users of dark attribute magic, which is the magic of the spiritual system.

"... is this how much I know?

Ashley nodded lightly,

"It's pretty much there. But the greatest feature of the ghost tribe is missing."

"What is it?

"As their own families, they can serve ghostly demons. A good operator (Tamer) can serve dozens of demons on his own. There's usually a story about a ghost tribe wiping out a pioneering village."

Ray felt something hooked on the story.

(I can't remember. Important thing...... pioneering village...... wiped out...... ghost people...... can't remember......)

He switches his head to the topic he wants to know now, shaking his head.

"Are the demons out around here ghost tribes?

"Sister Val tells me that there was a time in the middle ghost" Orc "herd that the middle ghost tribe was lost. You've heard some stories these days about the activities of the Great Ghost getting more active. Luckily, they don't see any demonic lineages, but they're good at hiding who they were originally. While we're unaware, there's no way we're getting in."

"Does Stella know anything about the Demons?

Stella, suddenly told the story, is staring at Ray.

"Yes...... no. What I was taught inside...... the demon tribe should be killed before they come near me, and I'm telling you not to listen to the demon tribe. Nothing more..."

Ray smiles bitterly at her words, saying, "Well, thank you."

(Luke, if you say it sounds like the Holy King, until then, but can I tell you a little more about what to do?

"By the way, Ash. What does the Demons show up west of the Aquila Mountains for? I think it's pretty tough just going over that mountain."

Ashley tries to shrug her shoulders,

"I'm not sure about that. Once, he said he captured the Middle-Ghost tribe, but he only replied that he had obeyed the chief's orders even after interrogating him. In the first place, it is no exaggeration to say that we know absolutely nothing about the demonic kingdom, Kwaedam Tenebre. Very nobody can answer which is what is going on with the political system, is there a king, who it is, what race the ruling class is, how much population it has"

(No... I'm not Sun Tzu, but you don't know the enemy at all. Nobody has a sense of crisis?

"Nobody's going to Kwaedam Tenebre for reconnaissance?

"No, you must have sent it off a few times. But none of them have found the capital of the Demon Nation, and whoever went to the depths said they would not return alone."

"You mean only the demon tribes that have attacked me... you mean there may be other races that I don't know... it's a nasty story"

(Dark attributes have a lot of magic in spiritual systems. Were they all captured and taken in while we went to look into it? No, if you can brainwash over a long period of time, if you return the brainwashed person, you can pass on the nickel information. Why don't you do it? You haven't developed as much magic in your mental system as the world tells you, you don't understand information warfare... or do you have another thought... well, I can't help thinking about it now)

"The most in contact with Kwaedam Tenebre is the Kingdom of Kaum - a kingdom in the mountains south of the Kingdom of Lax - isn't it? What's going on with Kaum's relationship with the Demons?

"The most contacted, or fighting, is Periclitle - the country with the headquarters of the Adventurers Guild - right? Kaum's policy should have been to limit contact with Kwaedam Tenebre."

(Is that it? Unlike my knowledge... there should have been a fortified city on the eastern edge of Kaum called “Toa - Gate -" Thor was supposed to be a barrier between Kaum and Kwaedam Tenebre... and Periclitle is further west of it. How is the Demon Clan getting in?

"How is Pericritle getting in when it's hundreds of km west of Kwaedam Tenebre?

"That's what I don't quite understand. Neither do we, but we have no idea how we're going to break through that Aquila Mountains. Though robust ghost tribes, it shouldn't be possible to cross Hail Snow Aquila..."

Stella reluctantly called out, "Um..."

"Does Stella know something?

"I've heard my previous husband - Loris Deoddard, a big merchant - and another merchant speak more"

When Ray said, "What kind of thing?," he embarked on, looking a little troubled,

"You said it was just a rumor, but are you sure about that?

"I don't mind. Like what?"

"Yes, he said the person often went to Periclitle, where rumors were circulating that demons would come through a cave in the mountains of Aquila. They say the cave can reach dozens of kilometers, and there's a lot of demons in there that even strike demons."

"It's a cave... it seems possible, but I wonder how you learned that story"

"From the demon clan that caught him, he said the Adventurer Alliance headquarters in Periclitle got the information. I heard that Periclitle's guild leader is hiding that fact to prevent panic."

(Indeed, if it is published before the location of that cave is known, fear of the Great Army of the Demon Nation could lead to panic. But even though it's a few tens of kilometers long, it's too short to get through that giant Aquila. It's reasonable to assume that the cave is pretty much in the back of the mountain. So I guess I can't even look into it as an adventurer guild. It would be difficult to lice the uninterrupted area of a few hundred km square, though we might be able to look into it if we had assistance from each country)

"Maybe there's a similar cave in the east of Lax. Or is there something like metastatic magic?

Ashley has a clear tone,

"Either way, it doesn't change the fact that the Demons appear on the western side of Aquila. Besides, it doesn't change the fact that it's incompatible with them."

(Is it really incompatible? Doesn't that have a purpose? Thanks for catching on, this is it)

Ray couldn't help but feel like he had knowledge of the Demon Clan that was being blocked. And when I shut up trying to remember it, Ashley and Stella also stopped opening their mouths, and between them, a quiet time flowed.

A few minutes of silence flowed, with a face that said Ray was sorry,

"Sorry, sorry. Got a little something to catch on to... let's get this story over with. Well, after this, what do we do? I'm gonna take my time today, but still, I've got plenty of time, and you want to take a walk?

"Right. The corner weather is nice, and you can stroll in the village."

The three took a relaxing stroll through the village and relaxed until the sun tilted.

At night, the mercenaries go to sleep.

Assigned to the five squads led by Ashley from midnight to 2 a.m.

That night, there is no demonic raid, and quiet time flies by.

(Demon tribe... why do you care so much? I can't help but feel like I can't remember something important...)

Ray was thinking about the demons he was talking about during the day.

(If I go to Periclitle, I think I can remember, but now I also feel like it's not that time. I hate it when it looks like they're manipulating me, but I also think it's the only way to be...)

Looking up at the sky, the stars are beautiful and brilliant.

(Is it a new moon today? It's raining, and the stars are beautiful. Is she looking up at this beautiful starry sky too...... she? Who are you talking about? Now the face of someone's woman, a young woman, yes a girl as old as me... who...)

He tries to remember the girl's face in his heart, but it fades away like a dream when he wakes up.

(I wonder what that was now? Is that why I came to this world... I don't know...)
