Lesson 39: Cheslock

May 30th.

The Rays entered the southernmost tip of the Wale Peninsula, Duke of Cheslock territory.

"It's hot and humid," Ray says, looking up at his face with his hands.

Already the cape had been stripped off and the pitch-black leather armor had swept away, but even though it was still too early a season for early summer, it had been jizzily burned by the shining sun.

What was also painful was humidity. The air containing the stirring humidity inhibits the release of body temperature, causing constant sweating.

More than Ray, it was Ashley, who grew up in the North.

She is sweaty and wet enough to squeeze under her cotton armor, although her temper does not make her foolish.

"You can't do it," Ryan cried stupidly, soaking water from the water bottle.

Stella and Ione don't get any unsatisfactory looks either, but they still have ball-like sweat on their faces.

Among other things, only Vitali White of the Robbins Chamber of Commerce was well. He had visited Cheslock many times and was used to it.

"Pinch your breaks frequently...... remove any moisture as appropriate. Because many travelers have fallen without drinking water..."

Familiar with his journey, he gives tequila and advice to the Rays.

Of course, the Unos, regular Beast Slave Troopers, are as usual, without changing their expression at all. Ray was so suspicious of his eyes that he didn't even scratch the sweat.

The territory of the Duke of Cheslock is a special area even in the southern part of the Empire.

In an area with high temperatures and humidity close to the subtropical climate, it had created a completely different landscape even though until then it had only sandwiched one mountain from the Duke of Feelobisher territory and so on.

Up to Phyllobisher there were many plants that were familiar, albeit in warm climates, but when you enter Cheslock, there are many plants found in the tropics such as cidas, paddy fields are made near the Cheslock River, and buffalo-like cattle walk.

There are other palm trees and banana trees, just like the South.

Around 3 p.m., he arrived in the city of Cheslock.

This was due to the fact that the guide Vitali had shortened the distance traveled in view of the drain on the Rays' health and the fact that they left in the early morning when the temperature was relatively low.

The city of Cheslock is an imperial standard fortified city surrounded by a one-km (Kimmel) wall on one side. It has a population of about five thousand people, most of whom are associated with the administration and the military. However, a city is also formed in the sea-facing port district, where more than 10,000 merchants and fishery officials live.

The Rays did not enter the fortified city but were heading directly to the harbour district.

"There's an outpost at the Robbins Chamber of Commerce, so let's face it there once," Vitali says to lead the way.

There are no walls, fences, etc. in the harbour district, and you can enter and exit freely.

Rare wooden, thatchy roofed houses line up in the empire, many of which open large windows.

When I entered the city, it smelled like fish because of the proximity of the fishing port. But the fisherman-like men were drinking in a daze, and the Rays felt the impact of not being able to leave the fishing boat.

When I noticed how they were doing, Vitali said, "I would be more lively if I were you, but I wonder what because I can't leave the fishing boat or the merchant ship..."

The outpost of the Robbins Chamber of Commerce was located in a commercial district a short distance from the port. Buildings around here are also wooded, and stone buildings are mostly warehouses.

Although it was named an outpost, it was the same size as other chambers of commerce branches. There's just no sign that feels pop like a branch in Teito.

"Because this is only an outpost for purchasing raw materials," explains Vitali, who noticed Rays' gaze.

About ten employees worked when they entered the building. Better than outside receiving direct sunlight, but the mugging heat and humidity aren't much reduced.

He will be guided to the reception room and will confirm his future plans from Vitali.

"As for the future, why not visit the Closure Chamber of Commerce first? In this situation there will also be a captain, Mr Tobias Closure. I was wondering if it would be better to get information and conditions out of him and then take action..."

Ray answers, "Right," but sends Ashley and the others a gaze and see what they should do with their eyes. Ashley and the others nod and answer small in the sense of letting Ray do the same.

"Now let's head to the Closure Chamber of Commerce"

That's what I said and got up.

The Closure Chamber of Commerce had even more stores on the seaside than the Robbins Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber deals with eastern cities such as Langton and Kendrew and Gilsall, and has three medium-sized ships. The three vessels have triangular sails (latin sails) suitable for the eastern shores of the Wale Peninsula, where the Rias style coast continues, characterised by ease of retrieval.

One of them, the captain of the Westwind (Zephyr), is Tobias.

That's what the Rays were taught by Vitali as pre-information.

I enter the Closure Chamber of Commerce, but there was just one young male employee at the receptionist counter who seemed unwilling, and no one else.

Vitali speaks to the man.

"I say Vitali White of the Robbins Chamber of Commerce. I'd like to see the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce."

"You want to see the boss?," he raises his bare voice. But I will say it again soon, because the other party gave the name of the major chamber of commerce in Teito.

"I have a chairman, but I think we should stop now. Whatever, I'm worried about this situation..."

That's all I said, "If the guests are here, let them through!" I hear a wild voice.

"You can't help it. Follow me. But you should be careful what you say because you're standing there."

I added in a whisper at the end.

When I was guided in the back, I heard the sound of a cotton placing a wooden jock through an open door and a pour of liquor called cock.

A male employee goes inside and says, "I'm from the Robbins Chamber of Commerce," and the Rays follow him.

Inside, a skinhead man about two meters (melt) tall sat with his legs up at the table. Ray secretly thought it wouldn't be strange to have a large knife wound on his cheek and an even more black beard being the captain of a pirate ship.

Beside it was a large jock and even a small barrel.

Vitali frowns slightly at that attitude, but remembers that his opponent is a sailor rather than a merchant, and begins to speak calmly.

"My name is Vitali White from the Robbins Chamber of Commerce in Imperial City. This is a letter of introduction from Bart Robbins, president of the Chamber of Commerce."

Tobias moved his eyebrows slightly with a letter of introduction from the president of the Robbins Chamber of Commerce.

"What does it look like the Robbins Chamber of Commerce of Momentum to Drop Flying Birds to a Zero Company like mine?

Vitali did not answer that question directly, but turned his gaze to Luna before

"This is Luna Lockhart."

Tobias says "ho" in the name of "Lockhart” and slowly lowers his legs.

"What does that Lockhart lady look like to a sailor like me? Besides, the people behind it aren't lined up arms. Well, I wouldn't know if the Lockhart family rumors weren't exaggerated."

That's where Luna takes the story from Vitali.

"We have to go to Zirsole. So I was hoping you could help me with Mr. Closure."

That's what I said. Put the references I got at the Paston Chamber of Commerce on my desk.

"It's a letter of introduction from Lord Michael Paston of the Paston Chamber of Commerce."

Without cutting the seal, Tobias whines, "Is it the Paston Chamber of Commerce to the Robbins Chamber of Commerce... it does look like a real lockhart,"

"But I can't get the ship out. No matter how much you ask."

I say that in a self-derisive way, stirring jocks.

That's where Ray joined the conversation.

"I say Ray Arklight. Is it because of the Sea Serpent that you can't get the ship out?

"Exactly. I've never seen it before. It's a big guy. As long as he's outside the harbor, we can't get a single ship out."

That's what I say with a bitter look.

"Conversely, if you do anything about Cesar Pent, you can get the ship out."

As Ray said, Tobias didn't know,

"Yes, but the Imperial Army can't do this to your first-degree equivalent of demons either. We have to wait for him to disappear."

"I hear the Imperial Army don't move," Ray nods,

"But are you going to wait months like this? They know if they wait here, they'll get a new score. Are you going to keep this place sealed off until all the information reaches every port?"

As Ray says, we don't leave the port of Cheslock, but because the information hasn't gone through, the ships trying to get in are endless. For this reason, Cesar Pent sat at the exit of the bay, whose appearance was also visible from shore.

"You don't know because you're an amateur, but the sea is not like land. All you have to do to get the ship out and fight him is die."

"I know. I'm not willing to fight the monster of aquatic habitat in the water, or the most powerful first-degree monster."

"Then how are you going to take them down? That much demon is cautious. I'm not stupid enough to go up to a shitty land."

"I'll think about that now. But if we do something about Cesar Pent, will you promise to get the ship out?"

I don't believe Ray's words, but I promise, "If you do something about him, I'll let the ship out".

"So you can assume we've secured the ship, right? And it's okay to talk about crusading Cesar Pent at the request of the Closure Chamber of Commerce."

Tobias is surprised to say, "If it's a request..."

"I don't mind if I can handle it. What are we gonna do about the reward?

"What about the cost of transportation to Jilsol? Of course, we're going to get Cesar Pent's crusade reward from the Dukes or the Imperial Government."

Tobias complains of what can be described as Ray's openness.

"So that's it, then"

That's what I say. Signal Vitali and Luna to get out of the room with their eyes.

The two gently bowed their heads and left the room, followed by the Rays.

After leaving the Closure Chamber of Commerce, Ray suggests that we "gather information about Sea Serpent".

"I want to make sure before then," Ashley said.

"I'm confirming by the time I get here, the enemy is definitely a big man over fifty melts. The large bamboo used by fishermen doesn't work either, and I hear the ship was easily sunk by even an Imperial Army combat galley vessel. Can we do something in this situation?

"Right... you and I defeated the Green Serpent before, didn't we? I thought then that Serpent is not a big demon on land. If we can pull it off shore successfully, we'll figure it out. Of course, we can't do this alone, so we need help from the Imperial Army and the city."

"Sure enough, Sarpent is slow moving on land. But that scale and vitality gave me so much weight. I hear more than double that this time. Lord Closure also said, the long-living demon is cautious. It's not as easy as it sounds."

"I have an idea there. I can't help but look at the Imperial Army facilities and ships."

Ashley assumed that Ray had come up with something,

"Okay. Then let's gather information between me and Lord Vitali. Let me know if you have anything to ask."

"The most I want to know is whether you're always outside the harbor. If there are times when you are not there, in what pattern are you acting? For example, in the morning, when I'm offshore and it gets brighter, I want information like that. Of course, I want to know the size and characteristics."

"Okay. Okay, so Stella's with Ray. What about Luna?

"Right. We'll try to gather information, too, because it looks like we should split it. So what do you say we get together at the inn at 6: 00 p.m.?

Ray and Ashley nod at Luna's suggestion.

Ray called Uno,

"Excuse me, but please split into three groups. I have Stella at my place, so it feels like two at Ash's and Luna's."

Each of the Rays scattered around town.
