Trinitas Mundus

Episode 40: Cheslock Military Port

evening of May 30th.

Arriving in the town of Cheslock, he met with Tobias Closure, president of the Chamber of Commerce of Closure and sailor.

Although I have accepted the trip to Jilsall, I am told that the Sea Serpent Dragon (Cesar Pent) is sitting outside the port of Cheslock and that the ship cannot be put out unless it is eliminated.

Ray had come to the Cheslock military port to check the port's facilities and military vessels in order to eliminate Cesar Pent.

The Gulf of Cheslock is at the southern tip of the Wale Peninsula, about five kilometers wide (Kimmel), in the form of a headland protruding to the left and right. On the eastern side of the bay, the Cheslock River flows in, and on the eastern side it is a shallow sandy beach, which was originally a bustling fishing area with fishing boats.

The port of Cheslock is on the western cape of its bay, where the L-shaped, curved cape forms the shape of a co, forming a natural good port. In addition, the depth of the water is deep due to the current, allowing large ships such as military and merchant ships to enter the port.

At the tip of the Cape lies a fort lined with lighthouses and large defensive crossbows (baristas).

There were about ten smart galley ships moored on a single deck about thirty meters long (melt) in the military port. The galley ship is mounted with a single mast with a simple transverse sail and a per-body punch angle. A story I heard on my way to the harbor was that we employ galley ships so that we can make a small detour to control pirates lurking along the coast.

"You can't fight Cesar Pent on that ship," Ray muttered, agreeing with Stella.

"Right. If the sea serpent presses you, it's going to break easily."

"Well, let's go to the military port," he said and walked out.

Stella thinks Ray came up with something and follows without saying anything. Behind them walked unnoticeably the uno of the Beastman Slave Squad.

Approaching the military harbor, the sailor-like men of the Imperial Navy sit on the breakwater and look out over the sea. You don't think we have our turn. I don't see any nervousness.

Still, when I noticed Ray and Stella approaching looking like mercenaries, a late twenties cadet-like man with a burned face approached me in the day.

"What can I do for you? It's not like mercenaries are coming."

Ray had a light meeting before

"My name is Ray Arklight, and I'm a Class V mercenary. It was requested by the Closure Chamber of Commerce to crusade Cesar Pent. So I wanted to talk to you a little bit."

Harry Moran, captain of the galley ship, looks too young Ray like a frigid, but he had some spare time and decided to talk.

After a chat, we get down to business.

"Can we escape the sea serpent at the maximum speed of a galley ship?

"I can't do that. He swims at the same speed as a scythe. No matter how hard you try, they'll catch up to you soon."

Because it was an answer as expected, Ray just smiles and nods and moves on to the next question.

"I heard that fishermen have no teeth at all, but what if it's a barista in a fort?

"I don't know what that would do, but I can't hit Cesar Pent. It's hard to hit a slow-moving ship."

"That's right. Because it's so hard to hit an enemy moving with a bow," affirms the other person's words. On top of that, it feels a little off,

"How many are there? Because there's so much to say about hitting a few shots."

"It must have been about thirty we were deploying."

"There's a spare, right?"

"Yeah, there must have been about ten of them, but shooting from there would hit one or two of them with precision. You can't take them down because they don't work."

Even the Imperial Army seemed to have made the consideration of attracting them and claiming them in a barista, and soon a word of denial emerges.

"Really...... thank you. By the way, can I take a tour of the fort?

"There's nothing I can't do, but I'm free and I'll give you a guide."

Moran was from Cheslock and basically had a cheerful personality.

Ray also thought it was easy to talk, so he says, "Please," and bows his head.

The fort is at the entrance on the outer sea side of the military port. The walls made of cut cliffs and earthly attribute magic were integrated and seemed very robust.

I was identified at the mercenary guild orb, but I wasn't particularly heavily guarded, and I was able to get in light.

As we went up the stairs inside the fort, the baristas were installed to gaze around the rooftop area, which became a gunshot chest wall about thirty melts high from the sea level.

The barista is about three melts wide, and the arrow placed nearby exceeds two melts in length, so much so that it is more of a spear than an arrow.

"That's amazing. If this is a regular shield, it will penetrate easily."

"Exactly. It's just that I've never had anything like this port being attacked before, so I don't have a track record."

Although the port of Cheslock is an important military port of the Imperial Army, it has never experienced combat between the armies due to its great distance from Lukes in the west as well, and the fact that there has never been a military clash with Gilsall in the south.

Nor did the pirates on the eastern side of the Wale Peninsula or in Gilsall strike Cheslock, a military port.

"Don't take this off and you can carry it," Ray mutters as he looks at the base of the barista.

"If I were to use this barista to exorcise Cesar Pent, would it be okay if I had the Commander's understanding here"

Moran is confused by the sudden question,

"I could use it with the commander's permission... but what are you going to do?

Ray felt that Moran was cooperative and decided to explain his thoughts.

"I'm trying to lure you to the beach and end it with a concentrated barista fire."

"How am I supposed to attract you? He's not getting near the beach."

"I'll be the one. Because I think if you manipulate the boat with magic, you'll get a speed that the sea serpent can't keep up with."

Moran is surprised at the words "were you a magician," but Stella reacts harder than that.

"It's dangerous! Besides, there's no guarantee that even when it comes to manipulating boats with magic, Cesar Pent won't catch up with you!

"I certainly haven't seen it yet, and I can't say anything because I haven't used magic, but if it's as fast as the Green Snake Dragon (Green Serpent) I used to knock it down, I think it's probably fine"

Ray was going to use magic to give propulsion. The method was to create something like a jet stream with water attribute magic.

Moran was surprised at the exchange between the two.

(Class V mercenary, that's also the second half of the level forties. So you're a magician... even though you're ten years younger than me... and this beast's daughter was close to level fifty. Well, the guy in the back wasn't strange because he was over level sixty... if the magic story is true, maybe he can be defeated...)

I'm half-hearted about magic, but having confirmed the level in the Mercenary Guild orb, I knew the two were more awesome than they looked.

"... I still have to see how fast the boat can go and how much magic I have, but if I can ambush forty baristas on the beach side by side, I have a chance..."

Ray's operation was very simple.

Ride a boat that runs at high speeds, bring out the sea serpent and lure it straight to the beach. The boat can also proceed at water depths of dozens of cm (semel), but the thickness of the body of the sea serpent, which is fifty melts long, is more than two melts, so it will ride up into the shallow waters. If the sand took his body on the beach, Cesar Pent's movement was to blunt at once and target him there with a barista.

"That's going to work out. Well, the premise is that you can magically run the boat..."

"Right. If you like, could you lend me a boat that's here? If you look at how much you can move in front of you, you'll see if you can escape Cesar Pent."

Moran's mind moves on that suggestion. As an Imperial soldier, he was also inclined to leave the demonic threat unattended. Especially since it's also a place of origin, I've also noticed that someone I know is in difficulty, and I was hoping to give Ray a hand if he could manage.

"The boat is also on my ship...... if you're heading to the shallow waters, you'd better be small. You should borrow something for the factory's inspection."

Ray is curious about the word, but Stella doesn't break the opposite attitude that he might be impotent.

"At least you should talk to Master Ashley before you decide"

"Right. But it's good enough to see if we can really do it before then."

Stella couldn't argue with the word either, and she got cramped with answers.

In the meantime, there was talk going on between Ray and Moran, and now we're going to experiment with magic boat manipulation.

"Just give me a minute. I'll talk to the commander," Moran said and went inside the fort.

Stella takes advantage of the time and asks the accompanying Uno to "contact Master Ashley". She thought she couldn't stop herself and decided to call Ashley, who was hitting the tip.

Uno understands Stella's thoughts and immediately says "I understand" and disappears. As far as he was concerned, he was afraid that his escort would disappear, but he decided that confronting Cesar Pent was more dangerous than that.

About thirty minutes later, Moran brought back a mid forties soldier.

"It's Lord Richards, commander of the Cheslock military port. This is Ray Arklight, a Class V mercenary who's been working on an earlier proposal."

That's what Moran says and introduces the two of them.

Ijdoah Richards smiled at Nicole as she glanced at Ray.

"I don't know, but I wonder if it's the“ White Master ”of the Mercenary Corps of Markat."

Ray is wearing black leather armor and does not expect the name to come up, but is slightly wolfish.

"Yes, that's certainly what they used to call it..."

"When you hear the name Ray Arklight and the magician's mercenary, you know what you know. Well, I saw that armpit and I was sure."

Ray is even more surprised that he is more familiar with information than he thought.

Was Ray's face funny, Richards said, "I'm sorry" without stopping to grin,

"Tales of the Millis Valley and the Periclitle offensive are conveyed even in such remote areas. I happened to hear the name Ray Arklight, a young hero and white warrior..."

Moran was also surprised by Richards' words.

"No way... I did wonder about Van Place... but I wouldn't know if they called me a white warrior with that look"

Richards nods at it,

"It is said that the armor of a white military master is like a holy knight. I'm afraid you're changing it for fear of trouble."

Ray was impressed with Richards' insight, but was surprised that his name was also more known in the empire than he thought.

(Maybe it was because I was with Luna that they didn't notice in the Imperial City or any other city. Looks like the Lockhart family name has more impact. But is it easier or harder to do...)

The White Warrior is known as a member of the Lax Kingdom-based Mercenary Corps (Red Arms).

For the Empire, the Kingdom of Lax is an enemy of what is in truce, and the Red Arms raised its name to its Imperial opponent, which is why it feared.

"You don't have to be wary that way. Anyway, the Navy has never fought Lax. Besides, you must be a mercenary. Then you just have to be grand."

All I could do was say "thank you" to my adult attitude.

Talking like that, Ashley arrived. You've been running. My breath is rough.

But there was an imperial navy commander-like figure who could not inadvertently speak up.

"She's Ashley Markat," Ray introduced, "Richards said," Whew, "

"Is there also a" war maiden ”?" he laughs.

I don't understand the situation. Ashley has trouble responding and looks at Ray.

"Lord Richards seems to know a lot about Millis Valley and Periclitle. Look at me, like you said," White Master. "

So did Ashley have a point?

"It's Ashley Markat," he says, bowing his head.

And towards Ray,

"I'm talking about magically moving a small boat, can you do that? Even if I could, they would be Cesar Pent. Even the Green Serpent was swimming at considerable speeds. We should consider Cesar Pent, who grew up in a rough sea, even faster."

"I think so, but if my magic works, it should be fast enough for a horse to run at full speed."

Ashley and Stella nod, "Really?" but Moran and Richards couldn't hide their surprises.

Talking like that, the Lunas arrive too.

"Then it shouldn't be too late, let's give it a try"

Ray spoke to Moran, laughing at Nicole.
