Episode 81: Negotiating Theo

September 1.

30,000 Imperial Army and 200,000 Luke's Holy King Army confront each other in the vicinity of Lark Hill, the main stronghold west of the Caerm Empire, plus 70,000 people in the meadow led by Ray.

Ray negotiated with Squadron Commander Ranjes Fortunato, who had previously fought with Executive Bishop Maggioni Gastaldi, a messenger of the Holy King's kingdom, and asked him to persuade the General, King Augustino I.

Direct negotiations were also held with the Commander-in-Chief, Prince Leopold, against the Imperial Army on the one hand, but the Prince plots to get Ray to pull his hand, arguing that the Holy King is dangerous to achieve his own merits.

Ray boasts of his own power in the form of a half-threatening prince, but that touched the prince's scales.

The prince tells Theophilus Lockhart, who is accompanying him, that the people of the meadows are being deceived, and asks what Theo himself thinks.

"It's Theophilus. You heard what I said. The Humans you took care of are being fooled by this ambitious man. What are you going to do with an Imperial nobleman?"

Theo is bewildered by sudden inquiries.

(I wonder what Brother Zach would answer... you said to think about what they wanted at times like this... His Highness used the term “imperial nobility”. I mean, as an imperial nobleman, the Lockhart family, I say follow the royal family. But Mr. Ray didn't directly threaten me, and I need to think about what's best for the Empire and answer...)

Theo drips his head and insists on his own ideas.

"If the Humans and Horses are to avenge the Empire, I say, no, the Lockhart family will fight their enemies with all their might. Whether that's a friend or a benefactor, it doesn't matter. But Lord Arklight hasn't said a word about pulling a bow on the Empire."

The prince tried to upset Theo to make him say Ray was the enemy of the Empire. But Theo succeeded in switching to general theory by declaring that he would fight without hesitation, whoever he was, and further implicitly pointed out that the prince was manipulating him.

"I certainly didn't say I would pull a bow on the Empire. But it's clear that you have that ability. Besides, if this man is united with the Holy Kingdom, he can have a large army of infantry and good cavalry. Isn't that why you let the armies of the Holy King pull intact?

The prince's concern was whether Ray would conquer the Holy King against the backdrop of the power of the people of the meadows and invade the Empire with that power.

Theo answers the question calmly as well.

"If Lord Arklight is going to take control of the Holy Kingdom and invade the Empire, why didn't he take advantage of this opportunity? If we defeated the Imperial Army 30,000 here and invaded with that momentum, we would have gotten as far as the central region as possible. Plus, you didn't have to send us to Lark Hill. How advantageous it is to hide your existence and carry out ambushes."

"Oh, that's..."

The prince speaks to Theo's words. I was originally not good in the political field, and I was told that I was strategically right and could no longer cut back.

"Mr. Theophilus is right. If I were an ambitious man, I wouldn't be such a hassle."

"Then why should we let them get away with it? I'm not convinced that the reason is the lives of the people."

Prince Leopold assumed that the reason Ray said it was false and that there were other reasons.

"There's no other reason. I commanded Luke's peasant militia during the Battle of Periclitle. And we lost half of them, and we were to hurt many. What I thought at that time was that they were victims being forced out of their homeland and forced to participate in meaningless battles. So there is no falsehood in the desire to save them"

Ray tells him that with a sincere look, but he can't see how convinced he is by the prince.

Theo thought he could not find a compromise as it was, and eared to Prince Leopold.

"Your Highness, I need to talk to you for a second."

"What?"

"What is it here," he said, turning to Ray. "I want to talk to His Highness. I just need a little time," he says, leaving the Rays with Prince Leopold.

When you stop about ten meters (melt) away,

"Lord Arklight is generally thought of as a warrior, but he also has an instrumental aspect."

"What's wrong with that," he looks surprised.

"By conceding to him on this occasion, Your Highness is foolish as to whether he should be profitable."

"Minori... Tell me more"

The prince prompts ahead of what is uncertain how to react to Theo's words.

Theo lowered his head small,

"If we open the end of the war, the Imperial Army will perish. So the option of fighting is not a good one…"

Theo was bold enough to say that he would be defeated if he fought the Prince, the Commander-in-Chief. Though the prince narrowed his eyes to the audacity, he was more concerned about the story ahead and didn't blame it.

"… but, as Lord Arklight put it, if we allow the withdrawal of the Holy King's Army, there will be no damage to the Imperial Army and we can sell him even more grace. As I said earlier, he has a forceful side. You won't be hostile to someone you feel grateful for, and you should try to return the favor."

"I don't even know that far. But I don't know exactly what kind of profit I'm going to get."

Theo nods small at the prince's words and continues to talk.

"It is a concrete proposal, how about we shield our gratitude and allow His Highness the power of the people of the meadows"

For a moment the prince found the proposal attractive, but argues that it would be profitable or subtle.

"Sure, we can use mighty power, but what good is it where we get their power? The Legion alone is sufficient in the battle against the Holy Kingdom. There's nowhere to use their power."

So Theo changed the cut of the argument.

"What happened in this land will pass on to the Imperial Capital. It doesn't all pass on either, it's stronger what people want to know"

"What are you trying to say?

The prince is puzzled by the sudden change of subject. But Theo returned with a grin at the confusion and went on to say more.

"What would the people of the Imperial Capital think if even His Majesty the Emperor had allowed the people of the meadow to join the battle only in the form of a request, at His Highness's request? It would be a normal reaction to consider His Highness to be cordial with the people of the meadows. In that case, the support of the soldiers of the Imperial Army will have to be even stronger than it is now, and we will have to change dramatically the way we view His Highness, the nobles who have nothing to do with the army."

That's all I heard, and the prince could understand what Theo was trying to say.

"I mean, you're going to sell favors to Arklight and negotiate with him to get on with the story that he's being cordial with the people of the meadows. Then the people of the Empire will become more aware of my power."

"It's the left. Order me to negotiate that. I'll make sure you succeed."

Prince Leopold thinks only for a moment, but immediately smiles and says, "Okay. I leave it to Sir," he said instantly.

At this time, Theo was remembering when his brother Zacharias crossed with the heavy towns of the Empire.

(At that time, Brother Zach said that people only see things the way they want to. And even though I want to think it's true that I want to believe more than the truth... so does His Highness. If you think you've gained more power than that, even if you can't achieve great results here, you shouldn't be forced to open the end of the battle. We know that if we open the end of the war, we will destroy ourselves, because it should seem more profitable to be able to advertise that we have gained the power of the people of the meadows...)

Finish the discussion and return to the Rays.

And Theo cut out the story.

"His Royal Highness fully endorsed your proposal. However, it is my belief that there should be some reward from your lord for ending the battle in an imperfect way, which would otherwise end in a great victory"

Theo dared speak to Ray in a firm tone.

"In return?" Ray gives a puzzling look.

"Exactly. In return, it's not money or things. I hope your lord, who leads the people of the meadows, shows respect for His Highness."

"Respect..."

So I add in a low voice to such an extent that the prince does not hear me.

"I just need you to thank His Highness for his mercy and declare that if anything, I will rush for His Highness. Because in doing so His Highness appears to have more than a certain influence over the people of the meadows. The important thing here is that I can see..."

After talking so fast, meditate on one eye properly.

Ray somehow understood what Theo was trying to say in that trick. Poke one knee instantly and bow your head wide.

"His Royal Highness Leopold is a merciful man who even takes pity on the peasants of the enemy countries. I will continue to be on His Highness's side while His Highness takes pity on the poor peasants. Except for the unjust, if His Royal Highness asks, we will command the people of the meadows ourselves and we will always rush."

The prince nods contentedly at the words.

"Then will you also tell the men of our army about it? It's easier to believe from Sir's mouth."

Following the prince's words, Ray stood up and began to speak aloud.

"I, Ray Arklight, am impressed with His Highness Leopold's character! Whatever the injustice, if Your Highness so requests, I will rush under His Highness with the people of the meadows!

Surprising voices are heard from the Imperial Army in this word.

It was little or no long history for the people of the meadows to receive requests other than emperors.

Prince Leopold said, "Then we shall expect the power of the people of the meadows if the Holy King strikes again" and went back to the Imperial Army formation.

"Just remember that if the Holy King moves poorly, it will be an all-out war," Theo tells him as he leaves, going after the prince.

Ray thought politics was troublesome as he looked after it.

(I'm glad Mr. Theo helped me, but I couldn't convince the prince if I was the only one. Still, the Lockhart family is strong in every negotiation as well as in battle...)

I thought of that as a chillary, but immediately turned to the Ashleys,

"We must watch the Holy King's army withdraw."

That's all I said and headed over to Hamish's.

When Prince Leopold returned to the main force, the Caerm Imperial Army began to move neatly toward Lark Hill as he gazed at Luke's Holy King Army.

This is because the general general, the prince, ordered it to be withdrawn, but there are many voices against this order.

"Shouldn't the enemy at least pull it up completely before entering the castle"

whereas the prince smiled sparingly and said, "Don't worry,"

"If you are willing to open the end of the war, Arklite and the people of the meadows will finish you off. They're my allies too."

Those who disagree with the word are also convinced, and immediately back off.

And there was a story spread among the soldiers that the prince had full control of the people of the meadows. It was deliberately diffused by Theophilus and others, and Prince Leopold is satisfied with the result.

Count Adolphe Rednapp, head of the Fourth Legion, was baffled by this situation.

His master, Duke Alexis Ezarrington, believed that Prince Leopold did not deserve the next emperor, because he was thinking about how to eliminate it.

(Was it a failure to put Theophilus on... No, if this is Zacharias' margin too, he should still be hitting some kind of hand...)

Uncle Rednap assumed Zacharias was pulling his hand behind him.

The reason for this is that Theophilus, although the arm of the sword is first class, didn't seem interested in political matters and didn't think he would fit in as brilliantly as that.

The concern is that there is no hitter in the current state of something, and for now I decided to leave the prince alone.

And start exploring how to put an end to this after the withdrawal of the Holy King's Army, which is a more pressing challenge than that.

(You're about to wonder if it's something you can fully expect from Arklight and the people of the meadows for the withdrawal of the Holy King's Army. There is no direct word exchanged with Arklight, but if the Lockhart family is involved, there should be no enemies against the Empire. But if I can't trust you...)

Though I think so, I can't find a hitter.

(It is not better to prolong a pointless war than His Highness thought. Then why don't you believe in Arklight here...)

While confirming the movement of the Holy King's Army, Uncle Rednap began to take command of the withdrawal of his own legions.

In the army pulling up to Lark Hill, Theo was worried about whether this negotiation was right.

(Brother Zach should not have trusted His Highness Leopold. Wouldn't what I did this time have a huge impact on the Imperial House commotion... because Brother Zach or Sister Sharon didn't envisage anything like this one either... don't they? Maybe that was the fabric stone this time...... looks like you should talk to Ray carefully once......)

Theo immediately asked Uncle Rednap to see him.

He was the Count who was in command of the retreat, but realized that Theo would take any action and decided to meet him immediately.

When the interview came true, Theo started talking about the matter in a straightforward fashion.

"I would like to join the people of the meadows. I was wondering if you could give me that permission."

"You mean to act with Arklight? What's the reason for that?

"It's publicly in the name of monitoring their actions, but my brother Zacharias has told me that we are going to ask Lord Arklight to understand the current state of the Empire properly and to act properly on it."

"" Properly ”or... specifically... no, let's not ask that. It would be hard for you to say, sir."

Theo himself had no intention of doing so, but the Earl assumed that the name had come up and that he was moving at the behest of Zacharias.

"Thank you. Now that we still have the eyes of the Holy King's Army, we will rendezvous in the shade of night"

"I asked for it. It's no exaggeration to say that he holds the end of the whole world, including the Empire."

Theo replied "I understand" to the Count's words and went back to his companions.
