The World Beast moved through the water at an incredible speed, deep within the ocean.

As a result, the waves kicked up by its passage formed a colossal swell on the surface, dozens of meters high. It was like a mountain of seawater, surging rapidly forward.

By now, the World Beast had carried Shen Feng to an unknown location; the Fog Sea was long gone, vanished without a trace.

Ever since it had swallowed that meal, the World Beast had felt something strange in its stomach. Faint vibrations and noises seemed to emanate from within from time to time.

’Did I eat something I shouldn’t have?’

As a World Beast, it had never paid much mind to such things. After all, it had devoured a wide variety of objects. It had swallowed countless vessels made by those insects called humans alone.

Even if some of the bombs inside were occasionally corroded by its stomach acid and exploded, they never caused any significant harm. At worst, it would get a slight stomachache that would quickly pass.

After all, most of the weapons created by the pitiful, insignificant creatures on this planet couldn’t harm a World Beast.

It was like a human being unharmed by a trap set by an ant colony.

But today was different.

This juvenile World Beast felt that something wasn’t quite right. Its stomach felt warm, and there was a persistent itch.

A biological instinct, an intuition for danger, made it feel deeply uneasy, yet it couldn’t figure out why.

’Maybe I should spit out whatever is in my stomach?’

Just as the thought crossed the swimming World Beast’s mind, a searing pain erupted from within its body. It couldn’t help but let out a piercing shriek. In the next instant, a pinpoint of light suddenly appeared between its eyes, rapidly growing larger and brighter.

VMMMM—With a muffled, piercing sound, the point of light burst forth from between its eyes. It started as a thin ray, then instantly widened into a column of light as thick as a bucket, before expanding into a massive beam dozens of meters wide. It displaced millions of tons of seawater as it shot toward the surface!

The light was searing and powerful. Like Moses parting the Red Sea, it created a hollow cavity in the water, shooting straight up toward the distant surface.

The World Beast thrashed in agony, twisting its body to try and shake off the beam erupting from within, but it only succeeded in carving more wounds into itself. In an instant, the powerful Energy Beam had sliced it open from the inside, destroying a huge portion of its central nervous system.

The Energy Beam ceased as abruptly as it had appeared, vanishing in an instant. The seabed plunged back into its original darkness, with only the World Beast’s dark green blood drifting out into the surrounding water.

It was utterly slain. Only the body’s instinctive reflexes remained. Its tentacles and massive limbs twitched grotesquely on the seabed. Its mountain-like corpse rolled across the ocean floor, kicking up clouds of silt and creating undercurrents that spread in all directions.

The World Beast’s life force was so tenacious that even with its central nervous system completely destroyed, its body remained active, continuing to struggle on the seabed. These death throes stirred up a tsunami on the surface, along with a sudden, violent squall.

An unknown amount of time passed before the World Beast’s struggles finally subsided. Only a few stray tentacles and limbs still twitched occasionally, spasming from the last vestiges of bioelectricity in its body.

It was well and truly dead.

After another while, a pinpoint of light appeared from the massive, hundred-meter-wide wound torn in its head. It was like the glimmer of a Firefly in a deep cavern.

Shen Feng swam out from the World Beast’s body, flashlight in hand, enveloped by the Quantum Force Field Core. A trace of shock was on his face.

Just moments ago, he had activated the Energy Concentration Cannon from inside the World Beast. He hadn’t expected it to be so powerful that it would pierce straight through the creature’s body, even tearing a massive hole in it!

If the Energy Concentration Cannon hadn’t temporarily failed due to age and disrepair, causing the Fusion Reactor to shut down, he estimated he could have split the World Beast clean in two.

No matter how great your Martial Arts, you still fear a cleaver. The World Beast’s outer carapace was incredibly tough, capable of withstanding impacts from an Electromagnetic Railgun and even nuclear bombs, but its insides were far more fragile. It lacked the powerful defenses of its exterior.

Speaking of which, the Energy Concentration Cannon and the Electromagnetic Railgun were completely different. The Electromagnetic Railgun’s kinetic energy was immense, making it suitable for sniping targets. The Energy Concentration Cannon, however, was more like a close-range burst weapon; while its power was greater, it was prone to energy dissipation over long distances.

’I wonder how later models of human Super Giant War Armor managed to integrate both weapon systems?’

That last shot had used up some of the remaining Beast Gold in the fuel cell, but a fair amount was still left. Shen Feng took it all out. Adding that to the two small particles of Beast Gold from before, he now possessed about 2.5 grams of it.

According to the Epic of the World Beast, Beast Gold was refined from the corpses of World Beasts, but the method was extremely complex and required a specific type of machine.

Even though Shen Feng now had a World Beast corpse at his disposal, he had no way to refine Beast Gold, which was a real shame.

He turned and shone his flashlight on the World Beast’s eye. There wasn’t the slightest trace of life. It was as dead as dead could be.

Shen Feng couldn’t help but shake his head in regret. ’It would’ve been better if this thing were still alive.’

CLANG... With a faint metallic noise, the wreck of a frigate, riddled with corrosion, slid out from the World Beast’s ruptured body.

A pile of other miscellaneous junk slid out along with it.

Shen Feng swam over and saw that the Fusion Reactor was still faintly flickering; it hadn’t completely shut down.

Although the Energy Concentration Cannon was somewhat warped by the water pressure, it seemed it could still function, if only barely.

Shen Feng glanced around. He was thousands of meters deep in the ocean. If it weren’t for the Quantum Force Field Core, his body would have been crushed into paste by the immense pressure.

By the faint glimmer of his flashlight, he had the vague feeling that there was something strange about his surroundings.

With this in mind, he tinkered with the Energy Concentration Cannon, preparing to squeeze out its last dregs of energy for one more shot.

He wouldn’t be able to fire another Energy Beam powerful enough to part the sea, but he could still produce a bright, hot beam of light.

It wouldn’t have any real power, but it would be more than enough to illuminate the seabed.

Thinking this, Shen Feng quickly pressed the button before the immense pressure could destroy the device completely.

The body of the Energy Concentration Cannon trembled once, then shot out a dazzling beam. The light was incredibly piercing, instantly illuminating the entire seabed around Shen Feng.

A bizarre, phantasmagorical world appeared before Shen Feng, making his eyes go wide with disbelief.

The seabed was a forest of ruined warship wrecks and the colossal, mountain-sized skeletons of World Beasts. Farther in the distance were even more majestic, mountain-like promontories on the seafloor, stretching as far as the eye could see.

The wrecks included destroyers, submarines, aircraft carriers, and more. The carcasses of the World Beasts were covered in massive wounds, their tough carapaces having resisted the corrosive seawater even after all this time.

This was an ancient battlefield!

Shen Feng followed the beam of light to the farthest point he could see. There, a colossal shadow, thousands of meters tall, loomed in the distance. It didn’t have the tentacles and limbs of a World Beast; instead, it looked almost like a kneeling humanoid figure.

’Could that be...’
