Chapter 1797: Meeting in This Way
After receiving Janelle’s photos, Trevor sent them to the wedding planner because they needed to be made into a slideshow to be played at the wedding.
After finishing up matters at the café, Trevor personally went to the photo studio, watched the prints get made, and compiled them into an album; the latter part was left blank so future photos can be added.
Because Ian Shelby and Jocelyn had just returned, they spent the entire day accompanying the elders of the Morgan family.
In the dimly spring-filled garden, Everett Morgan and Jasmine were trimming branches of the rose bushes; through all the experiences, their mentalities had subtly changed.
They were coming to terms with a reality: once children grow up, they’re beyond control.
In such a dangerous situation, she could run to Lorelei on her own; what could hold her back in future challenges?
If they obstructed again, she might secretly obtain the marriage certificate.
Young people in love have no shortage of impulsiveness.
Even though they didn’t know if accepting this unequal-status marriage was right or wrong, at the moment Jocelyn and Dr. Shelby were happy.
As elders, it really wasn’t their place to obstruct any further.
Morning of the next day.
A passenger aircraft landed, and Bertie, the restored King, came to Riventhal alone, following the crowd out of the airport.
Catherine, the Queen Consort, simply couldn’t persuade him otherwise, and even more security was refused on the grounds that he absolutely couldn’t flaunt authority.
Such a stubborn old man.
Riventhal is also a flourishing metropolis, and though Bertie had heard much of its prosperity, today was his first time stepping onto this land.
With his phone for navigation, he first arrived at a reputable bookstore - he isn’t an ordinary father, he had to do his homework.
"Sir, is there anything I can help you with?" Just entering, the sales associate smiled sweetly, her voice soft, exuding a high degree of literary refinement.
"I’d like to inquire about something from you, or... you could recommend similar books, and I’ll find answers within them," Bertie smiled gently, amiable.
The sales associate’s father was about his age and size, so she patiently responded as if he were her father, "Sure, go ahead."
"Here, what customs are there on the groom’s side when it comes to marrying off a daughter?"
Bertie came for his son’s marriage affairs and, fearing misunderstanding, clarified, "As the father of the groom, what is required to represent the groom’s family? For the first meeting with the bride’s parents, what is to be prepared?"
The sales associate suddenly understood: this father was surely asking about his son’s marriage!
He truly was a good father, discreetly doing his research.
Whose daughter marries into their family will surely become a treasured gem.
At this time, Janelle Mills got out of the taxi, ran in a sprint into the bookstore.
Directly heading to the aisles of books, she began searching according to categories for literature on marriage restoration.
As she searched, her eyes lit up upon seeing a book titled "Must-Read for Re-Marrying Individuals," she rose on her tiptoes to retrieve it from the shelf, smiling as she flipped through - it’s exactly what she needed.
She planned to buy it and study it to better aid Old Mills and Sister Sterling in rebuilding their relationship.
Not far away, the sales associate’s phone suddenly rang; she smiled toward the elderly man, "Uncle, let me take a call," and then turned away.
Unintentionally, Bertie glanced past and noticed Janelle Mills searching at the bookshelves, her profile striking him with a sense of familiarity.
In the backward streaming light, his gaze lingered long upon this girl.
Unclear from what forces compelled him, Bertie found himself gradually walking towards her.
Janelle focused intently on her selection; since she was at the bookstore, she wanted to choose two more similar books, aiming to thoroughly study and distill useful insights.
Bertie stood beside her, his gaze focused on the book in her hands then followed her sights to the shelves; his heart subtly tightened - young and divorced?
Is she preparing to remarry?
Time unfolded, and sensing someone stationed beside her, Janelle Mills glanced aside, meeting deep, gentle yet shocked eyes of a middle-aged man.
