Chapter 1777: There’s Something I Want to Tell You
Catherine was slightly taken aback by these words, watching as Jocelyn tugged at Louis’ arm, and in the next moment, he pulled a bottle of medication out of his pocket and handed it over.
He looked at her with a neutral expression, saying nothing.
"Thank you." Catherine’s throat choked up a bit as she reached out to take it, holding the bottle tightly in her palm. "Thank you, thank you both." She was genuinely grateful.
Because she knew, this must be a special medicine.
But Ian Shelby remained silent, and Jocelyn appeared a bit anxious. Clearly, they were here to reconcile relations, so what was the point of keeping a stern face?
The reflection had been done, the punishment received, and even her mother had apologized, enough already.
After all, she is a stepmother, and after all, an elder.
So, with a gentle expression, Jocelyn looked at Taylor, who was lying in bed stifling his groans, then at the middle-aged woman in front of her, breaking the awkwardness with a smile, "Prince Louis came over of his own accord to deliver it and insisted on bringing me along."
Ian Shelby blinked, the coldness on his face receding, and his overall aura softened.
Upon hearing this, Catherine glanced again at Louis’ now amiable expression, and suddenly she didn’t know what to say.
"Uh... Princess, we have matters to attend to, so we must be leaving now," Jocelyn said to her. "One pill each morning, noon, and evening, orally, it’s very effective, with noticeable pain relief."
"Okay, I’ll remember that." Catherine was very touched.
Then Jocelyn and Ian Shelby turned and walked towards the door, as Catherine gazed after their backs, she added, "Thank you both."
"You’re welcome." It was Ian Shelby who said this, his tone warm and calm, without pausing his steps or turning his head.
Jocelyn was quite pleased; he finally spoke.
Both Catherine and Julie sighed in relief.
As they left, Julie hurriedly poured a cup of warm water, and Catherine quickly twisted open the bottle to take out a pill.
The two of them gently helped Taylor up, feeding him the medicine with anticipation.
"Quickly, take the medicine; once you do, you’ll be better."
Actually, today Ian Shelby reconsidered one issue: getting Taylor beaten up this badly shouldn’t be kept from his father. If his father found out, he would also be very upset.
Taylor being hurt like this, if the father could visit him, it would be a comfort to the child’s spirit.
Previously, Ian Shelby worried that his father might blame Taylor, so he kept this matter wrapped up, like protecting a calf.
"What are you thinking about?" Jocelyn noticing his distraction, asked, "Can you share it with me?"
"Do you think we should inform father about Taylor’s matter?" Ian Shelby walked ahead with her, casting his gaze towards the distant horizon, "I also owe father an apology."
Jocelyn pondered, "It’s up to you to decide."
Ian Shelby remained silent, not making an early decision, needing to think it through further.
Today’s lunch was shared between Ian Shelby and Jocelyn, as the royal succession ceremony was scheduled for the 28th, requiring the entire royal family to prepare for it.
Even Ian Shelby’s attire for the day had much attention to detail, not only were measurements taken but many specifics needed considering.
Several etiquette lessons were assigned to Ian Shelby, with a tutor appointed, keeping him busy, thus temporarily unable to take Jocelyn back to Riventhal.
During dinner, Ian Shelby once again went to the King’s palace.
As with last night, the father and son sat in the lavishly decorated dining hall, with warm yellow lighting and soft, graceful music playing in the background.
The tie-wearing waiters meticulously served each dish, bowing before retreating to the doorway.
"Father, there is something I wish to tell you." Ian Shelby lightly parted his thin lips, his eyes deep and profound, he said, "I beat up Taylor."
