Chapter 1661: Evidence Collected Successfully
Before Julie could answer, two people walked in from the door, respectfully saluted, and reported, "Princess, there’s news that CEO Kingston is already on his way back to Lorelei."
"Coming over so soon?" Catherine was surprised and quite pleased, "Isn’t it just the second day of the new year? It’s a very important time for them, they should be with family. Are you sure the information is correct?"
"Absolutely, it’s what his team’s builder said, they’ve already set off."
At this moment, Julie spoke, "Princess, maybe CEO Kingston thinks cooperating with you is more important than being with his family?"
Hearing this, Catherine was overjoyed, her frown relaxed considerably, and she stopped worrying about Prince Louis.
As for the investigation regarding Jocelyn Morgan, Julie was not concerned.
Early morning.
In the grand and majestic King’s palace, the ornate and retro private dining room, the door had already been closed.
Jocelyn sat across the table from the King, which was filled with an array of food, each item was exquisite and delectable.
Jocelyn’s breakfast and the King’s breakfast were separate, even the plate colors were different, meaning they were delivered at different times.
Are the foods in front of the King still poisoned?
This was a question that worried Jocelyn.
The results from Ian Shelby’s side hadn’t come out yet... it was really slow, the equipment was crude, and Justin Kingston hadn’t arrived yet; how many more days can the King hold on?
His health was declining day by day.
Jocelyn suddenly felt a sense of patriotic concern.
She would rather starve, so she got up and swapped her milk with the King’s milk, and then exchanged the food in front of her.
This old man was Ian Shelby’s father; she couldn’t watch him continue to eat poisoned food!
The King was slightly startled, raised his eyes to look at her but did not stop her.
"King," Jocelyn didn’t explain her reasons, she spoke softly, pleading, "Please eat mine, I haven’t touched it."
Her intention was very clear to the King, as was her relationship with his son.
Bringing her in was to facilitate her gathering evidence and cooperate with his son’s investigation.
But immediate notice wasn’t given, to prevent outside detection.
The King also believed his body wouldn’t deteriorate suddenly.
Their gazes met, Jocelyn’s throat tightened slightly; she was undoubtedly nervous.
The King said nothing, just took a few small napkins from the drawer and handed them to her, "Collect as you see fit."
Jocelyn was shocked, her heart filled with incredulity, but she calmly looked at him.
Could it be that the King knew her identity?
Did Ian Shelby find an opportunity to tell him?
The King didn’t want her to feel pressured, so he calmly raised the milk cup she handed over and took a sip, then ate the breakfast originally meant for her.
Jocelyn didn’t delay, she glanced towards the door cautiously, quickly taking samples from the food on the table.
Her movements were swift, indeed suited for someone who achieves great things.
Sampling was completed quickly, she directly tucked the napkin-wrapped food into her pocket, seemingly unnoticed, as if even the King didn’t notice.
The King continued eating breakfast.
The food that she hadn’t consumed, more likely than not, was poisoned.
The King handed her a sandwich, which she took without saying anything.
Their eyes met again; Jocelyn looked at him with gratitude, then quietly began eating.
However... the King’s food should show signs of being eaten, so she poured half the milk into an empty cup, and tore half the bread, making the food look like it had been touched.
Their whole interaction had little verbal exchange, yet their cooperation was seamless, both assisting Ian Shelby.
