After setting everything out, Ye Shushu also sat down on the bed.

She picked up two small bowls, each half-filled with porridge, and handed one to Lin Tianyi.

"Let’s use porridge instead of wine. Thanks for today." Ye Shushu looked at Lin Tianyi with genuine sincerity.

This was the first time tonight that she’d said this kind of thank you to him.

Lin Tianyi took the bowl and clinked it lightly against hers.

"I heard you went out on your own to start a business. How’s it going?" As he spoke, he scooped up a spoonful of porridge and put it in his mouth.

"It’s an alchemy studio I opened with Nian Nian and Yayin. I don’t know anything about alchemy, I only handle the studio’s operations." Ye Shushu also started eating her porridge.

"How are things at home?" Lin Tianyi’s voice sounded again.

Ye Shushu paused for a moment, lowering her head to stare at the porridge in her bowl.

"Pretty good."

Thinking of what Lin Linglang had said, Ye Shushu still felt a bit guilty; after all, her words hadn’t come out of nowhere.

Before, she would occasionally talk to Lin Tianyi about things at home, but now, she didn’t dare say much.

"Mm." Lin Tianyi nodded.

"What about you? Studying abroad—was it fun? I heard the girls over there are really pretty, and... their personalities are very outgoing."

"Outgoing" sounded like a compliment, but in fact it wasn’t.

What people really meant was that those girls overseas, including the ones from here who went abroad, were more open—sexually open.

If it had been before, saying this kind of thing straight out, Ye Shushu wouldn’t have felt anything of it, but given her situation now, it wasn’t her place to criticize other people.

"Oh." Lin Tianyi gave her just that one syllable.

Ye Shushu couldn’t tell what his "oh" meant, but judging from this guy’s personality, he was definitely not the type to mess around.

"Can’t you talk about it? Tch!"

"Nothing worth talking about. If you run into any problems with the studio, you can come to me anytime." Lin Tianyi glanced at her.

Ye Shushu pursed her lips, picked up a fish ball and took a bite.

"Oh right, your company should be just about ready, right?" she asked softly as she chewed.

"Yeah. Just a small company. We’ll officially open after the New Year." Lin Tianyi replied.

"What do you mean, ’small company’? Over twenty floors and you still call it small? And it’s your very first company, and you didn’t take any Money from home."

Ye Shushu shot him a look, her heart full of admiration.

Lin Tianyi said nothing and also picked up a fish ball.

Seeing his appetite was so good, Ye Shushu finally felt relieved.

They chatted idly a little longer, when Lin Tianyi’s phone rang.

He took out his phone and put it to his ear.

She couldn’t hear what the person on the other end said; Lin Tianyi simply responded with a quiet "Mm" and ended the call.

"Hurry and finish up, then head back. My parents are on their way." He lifted his head and looked at the girl in front of him.

Ye Shushu had just put half a fish ball into her mouth, her cheeks puffed out as she looked at him and gave a small nod.

With Mr. and Madam of the Lin Family coming, she didn’t want to stick around either.

Those two were such powerful figures that Ye Shushu worried her little heart wouldn’t be able to take it.

With two or three chews, she forced the fish ball down.

"When will they get here?"

"About fifteen minutes, no rush." Lin Tianyi handed her an empty bowl. "Have another bowl of porridge."

They were only a few months apart in age, but Lin Tianyi really did seem much more mature than Ye Shushu, and far calmer too.

Leaving Lin Linglang out of the equation, most people would find it hard to understand why Young Master Lin was willing to be friends with the big-hearted, careless Ye Shushu.
