Chapter 743 - 744: The Might of the Hand Grenade
Fang Guangwang was too agitated to notice the change in Lin Kuang, giving him the opening he needed. He gradually closed the distance until he was only a meter or two from the hotel’s massive floor-to-ceiling window. Seeing his chance, Lin Kuang felt a surge of secret joy. In the next moment, his body shot backward, enveloped by a faint True Qi.
BANG!
CRASH!
The two sounds rang out simultaneously as Lin Kuang shattered the enormous window, bursting out onto the street below.
Seeing this, Fang Guangwang was momentarily stunned. "Damn it, he’s trying to escape!" With that thought, he charged out immediately. He couldn’t let Lin Kuang get away. If he was exposed, the Fan Family would be exposed as well, and things would get extremely complicated.
Just as Fang Guangwang rushed outside, several black spheres flew straight toward him. He didn’t think much of it, assuming they were hidden weapons. With a swift movement, he dodged them. However, as the black spheres flew past, he got a clear look at what they were. They weren’t hidden weapons—they were freaking grenades!
"Lin Kuang, you’re dead!" Fang Guangwang roared furiously, trying to accelerate. But how could he possibly accelerate while mid-air? He was completely unable to!
At that moment, three or four grenades exploded violently, sending a dazzling blaze skyrocketing into the air. Lin Kuang wasn’t idle; he threw all the remaining grenades he had, and the explosions continued, one after another.
Seeing the brilliant flames, Lin Kuang stopped in his tracks and breathed a sigh of relief. This had all been part of his plan. The moment he crashed through the window, he had already pulled the pins from the grenades, holding them ready in his hand. He waited until Fang Guangwang emerged from the hotel before tossing them. Otherwise, how could they have detonated so quickly?
Looks like this old guy is dead. I can’t sense his aura anymore. Lin Kuang thought to himself. He waited a little while longer, but when Fang Guangwang failed to appear, he finally turned to leave.
However, just as he turned, a figure burst out from the center of the blazing inferno. The man was on fire, his clothes charred to rags, and his body seemed incomplete. Yet, he still rushed forward.
"Lin Kuang, I want you dead!" the figure rasped in a hoarse voice.
It took no genius to realize this was Fang Guangwang, who had somehow survived the blast.
Hearing his voice, Lin Kuang spun around abruptly. He hadn’t expected the old man to still be alive. Fang Guangwang’s face was now a mess of charred flesh, one of his eyes was gone, and the hair on his head had been burned away, leaving behind a scorched scalp. He was a pitiful and terrifying sight.
"Damn it, you inhuman monstrosity! Just die already!" Lin Kuang yelled irritably, slashing out with Nameless and cutting Fang Guangwang down.
In reality, Fang Guangwang had already lost all his fighting strength. He had only managed to charge out on his last breath of pure willpower. Now, Lin Kuang had finally finished him off.
Looking at the corpse split in two on the ground, Lin Kuang let out a long, final sigh of relief.
Finally took care of him. That guy was tough to kill! he muttered to himself.
By now, a crowd of onlookers was beginning to surround the area, and the shrill sound of police sirens grew closer. Seeing this, Lin Kuang knew he couldn’t linger. He found a car belonging to the Fan Family, hopped in, and sped away.
By the time the American police arrived, there was nothing left for them. They could only put out the fire, carry away the dead, and essentially clean up Lin Kuang’s mess for him.
While driving, Lin Kuang switched to another car midway as a precaution to avoid being tracked. Once he was on his way, he dialed Zhang Tianshun’s number.
"Hello, Mr. Lin," Zhang Tianshun answered immediately.
"Mr. Zhang, I’m heading over to you now. Give me an address," Lin Kuang said with a smile.
"Okay." Zhang Tianshun recited the address.
Lin Kuang drove straight toward the location. When he was still several kilometers away, he ditched the car and approached the estate on foot; arriving by car would have made him too easy to spot.
When he arrived, Zhang Tianshun was there to greet him personally.
"Mr. Lin, are you all right? We’ve already heard about what happened at the Karen Hotel," Zhang Tianshun asked, looking at the grimy Lin Kuang.
"I’m fine, nothing serious, just got a bit dirty. Is Guo’er okay?" Lin Kuang asked with a smile.
"She’s fine. Miss Lin is in the underground facility. She’s perfectly safe," Zhang Tianshun assured him.
"Good. Take me to her first," Lin Kuang said with a smile.
Zhang Tianshun nodded and led Lin Kuang into a small cabin, which was actually an elevator to the underground space. A few moments later, he brought him to Lin Guo’er’s room.
"Mr. Lin, Miss Lin is right here," Zhang Tianshun announced with a smile.
Lin Kuang nodded and knocked gently on the door. "Guo’er, I’m back."
Hearing his voice, the door flew open, revealing Lin Guo’er’s worried face.
"Are you okay? Are you hurt?" she asked, her eyes welling up at the sight of the soot-covered Lin Kuang.
"Heh, I’m fine, really," Lin Kuang quickly reassured her as she looked ready to cry. "Not a single scratch. I just got a little dirty. I’ll be fine as soon as I take a shower."
Hearing this, Lin Guo’er nodded numbly. "Oh, okay. Then hurry and come in and wash up."
"Right. Mr. Zhang, please go upstairs and wait for me. I have something to discuss with you later," Lin Kuang said to Zhang Tianshun.
"Of course, Mr. Lin. I’ll wait for you upstairs," Zhang Tianshun replied with a smile before turning and heading up. Lin Kuang then entered Lin Guo’er’s room.
"Guo’er, just find me a change of clothes. I’m going to take a shower first," Lin Kuang said with a chuckle.
Lin Guo’er nodded again and started rummaging through Lin Kuang’s travel bag for him.
Meanwhile, Lin Kuang stripped off his tattered clothes and stepped into the bathroom for a thorough wash. Taking twice as long as usual, he finally stepped out of the bathroom, completely naked. The water droplets on his skin had already been cleanly evaporated by his True Qi.
"See? I told you I wasn’t hurt. Not a single scratch," Lin Kuang said with a wide grin, standing right in front of her.
Lin Guo’er’s cheeks flushed, but her beautiful eyes still carefully scanned his body. Only after confirming that he was completely unharmed did she finally relax.
"Hmph. I’m glad you didn’t lie to me," she said, her face blushing as she looked at his athletic physique.
