"Grandpa," Lin Kuang muttered softly, gazing at his grandfather’s aged and frail hands.

Thinking of how his grandfather had doted on him as a child, and then of his own recent resentment and dissatisfaction, Lin Kuang wept like a child.

Seeing Lin Kuang cry so bitterly, the old man stroked his head, his eyes filled with even deeper fondness.

"Alright, stop crying, you little rascal. I have to go now. You’re aware of the current situation. If I leave, many people will abandon us, and many others will move against our family. So, I’m leaving the rest to you all. I believe in you. I built the Lin Family’s vast enterprise from nothing, and I believe you can do it too!" the old man said with a smile.

Hearing this, Lin Kuang nodded, his eyes brimming with tears. "Yes, Grandpa, rest assured. Father and I will take care of everything here. And don’t worry, if anyone dares to touch our Lin Family, we will show them no mercy!" he said, his red eyes filled with murderous intent.

The old man nodded with a smile. "Within the rules, do as you please, but don’t cross the line. Remember your limits."

Lin Kuang nodded again.

"They are all your women, aren’t they?" the old man asked with a smile, looking at Liu Shilin and the group of beautiful women.

Lin Kuang blushed and nodded. "Yes, they are."

"You’re quite the womanizer, kid. Well, whether you are or not, since they’re willing to follow you, you must treat them well. Don’t let them down, understand?" the old man said with a smile.

Lin Kuang nodded heavily. "Yes. Don’t worry, Grandpa, I will."

The old man nodded, then turned his gaze to Liu Shilin and the others. "Girls, this boy of mine is quite the womanizer. You’ll have to keep him in check in the future.

"If he makes any mistakes, try to discuss things among yourselves. Don’t fall out over trivial matters.

"As his grandfather, I haven’t left you much of anything, for which I can only apologize," the old man said with a smile, his weak voice carrying a tinge of apology.

Hearing this, all the women shook their heads, some of them already red-eyed with grief.

"Good, good. As long as you don’t blame me. Seeing you all, I can leave in peace. Remember, you must all take good care of yourselves," the old man said with a smile.

Then, he gave Lin Kuang one last fond look as the hand on his head quietly slipped away. The next moment, the old man closed his eyes, passing away in utmost peace.

Seeing this, Lin Kuang’s eyes instantly reddened, filled with overwhelming sorrow.

"Grandpa!"

Lin Kuang wailed. This time, Liu Shilin, Xu Yingying, Shen Yanyu, Shen Yanxia, Lin Guo’er, and all the others kneeling on the floor burst into uncontrollable sobs.

At that moment, Diwu Baiyu appeared soundlessly.

"Guodong, the old man is gone," he said softly, stepping out of the room to face Lin Guodong and Lin Zhan, who were standing outside the door.

Lin Guodong’s body shuddered violently. He knew his father was going to die, but when the moment actually arrived, he was still overwhelmed by a devastating sorrow. Lin Zhan remained silent, but his eyes also reddened in an instant. After all, it was his own father who had died. How could he not be sad?

"I know," Lin Guodong said. His calm tone, however, held an uncontrollable tremble that betrayed the state of his heart.

With heavy steps, Lin Guodong walked into the room.

Looking at his deceased father, Lin Guodong clenched his jaw and forcefully pulled the weeping Lin Kuang to his feet.

"Enough. The old man is gone, so stop crying. There’s much to do, and there’s no time for tears," Lin Guodong said in a solemn voice. How could his own heart not ache? But there truly was no time. The Gao Family would definitely make a move, and even the Zheng Family would likely take action.

Hearing his father’s words, the crying Lin Kuang shuddered. He wiped away his tears and looked up at his father with reddened eyes.

"Father, I understand. I know what I have to do next," Lin Kuang said.

Lin Guodong nodded calmly.

Just then, servants of the Lin Family came forward, carrying a red coffin.

"The old master’s will was to be buried, not cremated," Diwu Baiyu announced, as he was the one handling the arrangements.

The funeral was to be a grand affair; after all, the old master was a hero of Hua Country.

「That day.」

The old master’s body was moved to the National Spirit Hall. A great many people came to pay their respects, including members of the major families and various military commanders. At the spirit hall, Lin Kuang saw Yang Wucheng, Zhang Guodong, Dragon Front, and many other familiar faces. In short, it was a large crowd, and Lin Kuang was keenly aware of their various motives, just as the attendees were themselves.

「The next day.」

The old master’s body was taken to the Martyrs’ Tomb and laid to rest.

Everything was proceeding in an intense and orderly fashion.

「Meanwhile, far away in America on Devil’s Island.」

A middle-aged man in plain clothes and with a calm demeanor walked out of the gates of Devil’s Island Prison.

In front of him stood two men, and behind them, a helicopter.

"Tower Master, you’ve finally been released," Li Wei said excitedly.

This middle-aged man was none other than Liu Shilin’s father, Liu Fengchun, whose real name was Liu Mu, the Tower Master of the Wumi Building.

"Yes, it’s time. Now that the Lin Family’s old man is gone, my time has come. Let’s go; we’ll talk when we get back," Liu Mu said calmly.

Hearing this, Li Wei, the Deputy Tower Master of the Wumi Building, looked slightly dazed, unable to fully grasp Liu Mu’s meaning, but he accompanied him onto the helicopter nonetheless.

Gazing in the direction of Yanjing, Liu Mu thought with some exasperation, That old man was certainly ruthless, leaving just like that without revealing the truth.

"Li Wei, notify everyone in the Wumi Building. If there is any turmoil in the Lin Family of Yanjing, the Wumi Building will be the first to step up and fully support Lin Kuang! If anyone dares to disobey, release some of the information we have on them. We’ll make an example of them!" Liu Mu said coldly to the man beside him.

"Ah? Tower Master, are you saying we’re going to openly support the Lin Family?" Li Wei asked, incredulous.

As the Deputy Tower Master, Li Wei knew perfectly well that the Wumi Building had remained standing for so long precisely because it was neutral. They only dealt in intelligence. This was the very reason for their enduring success. If they openly supported one faction, they would lose that neutrality. Not only would that offend countless people, but it would also plunge the Wumi Building into unimaginable turmoil.
