Chapter 286: I’ll Take My Leave First
A fiery red light from within the seven-colored glow in Shen Daoxing’s body surged, shooting up and bursting forth from him.
It was followed by an intense heat that seemed to incinerate the air, creating ripples of flame that coalesced around Shen Daoxing’s hand.
It was the exact same power that Peng Yue possessed—Extreme Flame Power.
"BANG!"
Shen Daoxing abruptly clenched his fist with a CRACK. Dazzling flames billowed forth as he threw a punch.
"RUMBLE!"
The two collided violently. Their charging figures came to an abrupt halt, frozen for an instant. A massive burst of fire erupted between their fists, engulfing the entire training ground in a sea of flames.
The stalemate lasted only a moment. Peng Yue faltered, and in the next instant, he was sent flying backward like an arrow loosed from a bow. He shot out of the sea of flames and crashed down with a THUD.
The three generals—masters of the Extreme Dao of Fire, Wood, and Earth at the Spirit Transformation realm, men who had been renowned throughout the East Continent for years—had joined forces, and yet they were ultimately defeated by Shen Daoxing. And from start to finish, Shen Daoxing hadn’t even used his Venerable Dharma Seal or Venerable Power.
Shen Daoxing looked down at himself. He had gained great insight from the battle, feeling as if he had just touched the threshold of mastering Extreme Fire, Extreme Wood, and Extreme Earth.
Seeing that the match on the training ground had finally concluded, the surrounding soldiers immediately crowded in, their eyes wide as they stared at the disheveled state of Peng Yue, Yuan Yuan, and Deng Fang.
’It’s just like Sis said!’
’Uncle Peng and the others got absolutely crushed!’
On the sidelines, He Yong was stunned. He glanced at He Qian, whose calm expression suggested she knew this would happen, then turned to Shen Daoxing with a look of utter disbelief. "Yang, are you really only at the Ninth Layer of the Spirit Transformation realm?"
He Qian slowly walked forward and said, "Thank you for holding back, Young Master Yang!"
Her thanks were sincere.
Of course, He Qian knew how formidable Shen Daoxing was. She had personally witnessed his power when he killed Yang Ye—a master of the Extreme Dao at the Spirit Transformation realm—in a single instant. Shen Daoxing’s true strength was definitely not something as simple as the Ninth Layer of the Spirit Transformation realm.
Then there was that terrifying Dharma Seal, and that unique power he possessed, reminiscent of a supreme being from a more ancient era.
Back then, even though she had been far away from Shen Daoxing when he unleashed that power, she had still felt an overwhelming urge to kneel and worship him.
Therefore, Shen Daoxing’s strength was definitely above the Extreme Dao of Spirit Transformation; he was likely even more powerful than a typical cultivator of the Earth Profound Realm.
And this time, Shen Daoxing clearly hadn’t used that terrifying Dharma Seal or that unique power. It was obvious he had been holding back.
"Yes, not bad, not bad at all! I knew it. I said this kid’s strength was exceptional for his age. He’s an absolute top-tier genius, peerless among the younger generation in the entire East Continent."
Deng Fang suddenly scrambled up from the training ground, looking disheveled. He nonchalantly brushed the dust from his clothes as he heaped on the praise.
"Mhm, mhm, and he’s handsome, too. Just my type."
Yuan Yuan, also getting to his feet, couldn’t help but add his own praise.
Peng Yue also rose slowly, nodding in agreement. "He is indeed worthy of being the one who saved the princess. That Yang Ye from Great Sui got what he deserved."
The three took turns showering Shen Daoxing with unconcealed praise, a far cry from their previous cold and standoffish behavior.
Shen Daoxing was taken aback. As he continued to listen, however, he felt their conversation was taking a strange turn.
"It’s just a shame he’s a bit young—three years younger than the princess,"
Deng Fang suddenly remarked.
"So what if she’s three years older?"
Yuan Yuan retorted, displeased. "It’s his blessing to have caught the princess’s eye. You think he’d dare to object?"
Shen Daoxing: "???"
"Alright, that’s enough!"
He Qian covered her mouth, suppressing a giggle. "Peng! Deng! Yuan! Do you still have doubts about Young Master Yang?"
Peng Yue and the other two looked at Shen Daoxing and chuckled, shaking their heads vigorously. "No, no, no! Young Master Yang’s strength is peerless and truly unfathomable. Of course Yang Ye was no match for him."
He Qian smiled again. "So are you going to keep deliberately giving him a hard time?"
The three men exchanged glances, then shared an awkward laugh as they once again shook their heads.
Then, Peng Yue walked slowly to Shen Daoxing’s side, his expression sincere. "Young Master Yang, we three were rash earlier. We were just worried about Her Highness, the princess. I hope you won’t take offense."
As he spoke, Peng Yue rummaged inside his robes and produced a bottle of Elixirs. "Young Master Yang," he said slowly, "this is a Rhythm Spirit Pill, personally refined by Elder Xu. It’s of great benefit to cultivators at the Spirit Transformation realm looking to advance their cultivation. Please accept it. Consider it compensation for our earlier rudeness."
Shen Daoxing smiled faintly. "General Peng, you’re too kind."
’In truth, if it weren’t for General Peng and the other two, I might not have been able to touch the threshold of the Extreme Dao so quickly.’
’Of course I wouldn’t mind such a small thing.’
Then, Shen Daoxing glanced at the Elixir in Peng Yue’s hand. "As for the Rhythm Spirit Pill, there’s no need."
’My Primordial Energy has already reached saturation. I don’t need a Rhythm Spirit Pill.’
"Ah, but how could we not? We were indeed rude earlier."
But Peng Yue insisted on giving it to him.
Seeing this, Shen Daoxing smiled. "In that case... I learned a great deal from our exchange just now. If you really feel that bad about it, how about we have another match?"
As he spoke, Shen Daoxing’s gaze slowly swept over Peng Yue, Deng Fang, and Yuan Yuan.
Peng Yue froze for a moment. Then, as if suddenly remembering something, he slapped his forehead. "Oh, my memory! Young Master Yang, I just recalled that Your Majesty has a matter to discuss with me. I must take my leave. My apologies! Apologies!"
With a strained smile, he turned and vanished in a flash.
’Three masters who have cultivated the Extreme Dao for years couldn’t even beat a regular kid at the Spirit Transformation realm when they joined forces. How humiliating would it be if word of this got out!’
He wanted to fight again? Peng Yue couldn’t afford to lose face a second time. So, he had grabbed the first excuse he could think of and beat a hasty retreat.
After Peng Yue had vanished, Deng Fang, who was standing nearby, blinked in surprise before it dawned on him. He cried out in alarm, "Oh, right! I just remembered, the missus is waiting for me for dinner! If I’m late, I’ll get an earful. Sorry, Young Master Yang, I have to get going too!"
With that, Deng Fang also turned and scurried away.
The last remaining general, Yuan Yuan, stood there dumbfounded for a second before he too caught on. "Right!" he exclaimed. "I just remembered, Your Majesty had something for me as well! My apologies, Young Master Yang, I must be going!"
And with that, Yuan Yuan also turned and bolted.
In an instant, all three had vanished, each one seemingly running faster than the one before.
Shen Daoxing stood there for a moment, stunned. He looked at the empty training ground, then had no choice but to turn and look behind him.
By now, Wei Xiong, having witnessed Shen Daoxing’s power, no longer dared to question him and had long since retreated into the shadows.
The only person left before Shen Daoxing was He Yong.
He Yong looked at Shen Daoxing and gave a sudden, awkward chuckle. "Um... uh... Yang. I just remembered, my father... he was looking for me earlier about something. So, I should probably get going..."
