Chapter 268: The Real Mirabel Appears
Damian arrived at the Scripture Hall not long afterward. The moment he stepped through the entrance, he immediately spotted his target.
Mirabel was already sitting behind the front desk with an old book resting in her hands, looking as relaxed as though she had been waiting there the entire day.
Hearing his footsteps, she slowly raised her gaze. A faintly amused smile appeared on her elegant face. "Oh? If it isn’t Senior Brother Damian."
Mirabel gently closed the book and rested it on the desk. "What brings you here?"
Damian approached without the slightest hesitation, wearing his usual shameless expression. "Of course, I came to talk."
Mirabel’s eyes curved faintly. "Just to talk?"
Damian immediately placed one hand over his chest and answered with complete confidence. "You know me, right?"
His lips curled upward. "I’m a sucker for beautiful women."
Mirabel stared at him silently for several seconds. Eventually, a soft chuckle escaped her. "How honest."
Damian grinned, but his attention had already shifted toward the system screen.
After all, several women around him had undergone ridiculous changes recently. There was always a chance Mirabel had changed too.
A moment later, the familiar translucent interface appeared before his eyes.
---
[Name: Mirabel]
[Cultivation Realm: Peak Golden Core Realm]
[Qi: Water Qi]
[Spiritual Root: Royal Grade Water Spiritual Root]
[Physique: Royal Grade Hundred Reflection Physique]
[Bloodline: Human]
[Comprehension: Peerless]
[Multiplier: 300x]
[Favorability: 60/100]
---
Damian froze.
For several breaths, he simply stared at the system screen. "Damn..."
The first time he had met Mirabel, her multiplier had only been around 50x.
Because of that, Damian had assumed she was simply some ordinary disciple working part-time as the Scripture Hall’s librarian.
Hell, she even kept casually calling him Senior Brother.
Yet the woman sitting in front of him right now was a Peak Golden Core cultivator with a Royal Grade spiritual root, a Royal Grade physique, Peerless comprehension, and a fucking 300x multiplier.
Damian’s eyes slowly narrowed.
"This woman isn’t some ordinary disciple."
His thoughts shifted immediately.
"Hell... with this cultivation, she could easily be an elder or someone with status far beyond normal disciples."
Suddenly, one old mystery made far more sense.
"No wonder she could somehow get her hands on Master’s hidden fangirl letter back then..."
Damian had always thought that part was strange. How the hell had a supposedly ordinary Scripture Hall librarian gotten possession of something so private?
Now he had his answer.
Mirabel had never been ordinary in the first place. Yet one thing still confused him.
"How the fuck did her multiplier jump from 50x all the way to 300x?"
Damian’s gaze returned to the system interface.
This time, his attention stopped on one particular line.
[Royal Grade Hundred Reflection Physique]
Almost immediately, additional information flickered into view.
---
[Physique: Hundred Reflection Physique]
[Grade: Royal Grade]
[Description: Allows the user to use Water Qi to create clones and evenly divide their original strength among them.]
---
Damian’s eyes widened slightly as finally everything clicked.
"Holy shit..."
The Mirabel he had met before... the supposed librarian stationed permanently inside the Scripture Hall... had not actually been Mirabel’s true body.
She had merely been one of the Reflection Bodies produced by the [Hundred Reflection Physique].
That explained the weak 50x multiplier.
Damian slowly looked toward the woman sitting behind the desk again.
"So the multiplier jumping from 50x to 300x means..."
His expression became thoughtful.
"There’s a damn good chance the Mirabel in front of me right now is the real one."
Or, at the very least, this body contained far more of Mirabel’s true essence than the previous reflection.
That alone changed everything.
Mirabel suddenly tilted her head, and her faint smile had never disappeared. "Senior Brother Damian... You’re staring at me quite intensely."
Damian immediately snapped out of his thoughts. "Ah."
Without missing a beat, his shameless instincts took control. "Sorry, sorry."
He smiled brightly. "I was just thinking that you somehow look even more beautiful than I remembered."
Mirabel stared at him for a moment before chuckling softly. "Flattery already?"
She rested her cheek lightly against one hand. "As expected of Senior Brother Damian, the sect’s number-one flirter."
Damian proudly accepted the title instead of denying it. "Hehehe... I’ll take that as praise."
Mirabel’s eyes showed a trace of amusement.
Damian leaned slightly against the desk. "Anyway, can we change locations and talk somewhere more private?"
Mirabel raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"
Damian’s grin became more mysterious. "You already know how generous I am."
He lightly tapped his storage ring. "And this time, the gift I brought is a little too good to casually pull out in the middle of the Scripture Hall."
Mirabel’s gaze briefly moved toward his ring.
Something subtle changed in her expression, but it was more of a curiosity rather than surprise.
She slowly stood from behind the desk and picked up her book. "If that’s the case..."
Mirabel gestured toward the deeper section of the Scripture Hall. "Please follow me, Senior Brother Damian."
Damian immediately pushed himself away from the desk. "Gladly."
As Mirabel walked ahead, Damian followed behind her, his eyes quietly sharpening.
"300x multiplier... Yeah. There’s no fucking way I’m leaving without getting anything. After all, it’s fucking 300x."
---
Mirabel led Damian through the deeper corridors of the Scripture Hall before stopping in front of an ordinary wooden door.
The moment she opened it, Damian raised an eyebrow.
The room beyond was packed with bookshelves, ancient manuals, bamboo slips, and rolled-up scrolls.
Some were neatly organized, while others were stacked almost carelessly across tables and corners.
Mirabel stepped inside and gestured toward a small tea table. "Welcome to my room, Senior Brother Damian."
She sat down gracefully. "Let’s talk here."
Damian nodded and took the seat opposite her. "Sure."
Mirabel calmly poured two cups of tea and pushed one toward him.
Damian accepted it without hesitation and took a comfortable sip.
Mirabel quietly watched him over the rim of her own cup.
A few seconds passed before she finally opened her mouth. "Senior Brother Damian."
Damian grunted as he drank his tea. "Hmm?"
A strangely evil grin slowly appeared on Mirabel’s elegant face. "You’ve already seen the true me, haven’t you?"
Damian’s eyes widened. "PFFT!"
