Chapter 235: Mirena Notices the Robbery
Damian finally walked out of the Sword Tomb, and the moment he stepped past the entrance, the heavy pressure lingering behind him gradually faded.
The outside air suddenly felt ridiculously fresh against his face. "Damn... I’m finally out."
For a moment, Damian almost wanted to drop his ass onto the ground and rest, but he quickly forced himself to remain standing.
There were still disciples nearby, after all.
A handsome young master could look tragic, bloody, mysterious, or even slightly exhausted. That was perfectly acceptable.
Looking half-dead and pathetic, however?
Absolutely fucking not.
Damian straightened his back, casually adjusted his robes, and glanced around as though he had merely taken a pleasant stroll through the Sword Tomb instead of nearly getting crushed by sword pressure several times.
He expected to see Nolan somewhere nearby, but surprisingly, the guy was nowhere in sight.
Damian raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Looks like that poor simp already left."
He rubbed his chin thoughtfully before clicking his tongue. "Although... I guess it makes sense. He already got himself a King Grade sword. Still, how the hell did he get out that quickly?"
Damian shook his head soon afterward. He really didn’t need to care about Nolan anymore. Besides, he could already guess exactly what that guy planned to do next.
Nolan would probably rush straight toward Selvara and try to use whatever happened inside the Sword Tomb to get closer to her.
Unfortunately for him...
Damian almost felt sorry for the bastard.
Almost.
Selvara was practically a sword demon wearing the skin of a beautiful woman. Her greatest love had always been the sword, and competing against a fucking sword for that woman’s attention was basically asking to lose.
Nolan was doomed before he even started. Damian’s lips also twitched as another thought entered his head.
"And if that idiot actually mentions my supposed death to Master..."
His expression slowly became increasingly shameless. "Hehehe..."
He could already imagine Selvara’s reaction.
Whether Nolan survived that conversation or not was honestly none of Damian’s business.
Damian glanced around again, this time searching for another familiar figure.
Cassandra.
However, after checking the surrounding disciples and the area near the entrance, he still couldn’t find her. "Huh. She left too?"
Damian paused for a few seconds before realizing that it actually made perfect sense.
Cassandra was basically a fugitive right now. Staying around the Sword Tomb after leaving it would only increase the chance of someone recognizing her or reporting her location. Leaving immediately was probably the smartest thing she could have done.
"Good choice." Damian nodded lightly.
With Nolan gone and Cassandra already disappearing somewhere, there was really nothing else keeping him here.
Technically, Elder Mirena was still around, but Damian couldn’t exactly do anything with her right now anyway.
He wasn’t stupid enough to randomly bother a powerful elder while exhausted just because he had nothing better to do.
Damian turned away from the Sword Tomb entrance and looked toward the direction of the blacksmith hall.
The exhaustion weighing down his body suddenly seemed to disappear by half. His eyes immediately brightened.
A certain red-haired treasure chest was waiting for him there.
Vulkara.
More importantly, Damian finally had something damn good to give her.
The thought of gifting his fiery second disciple a powerful hammer instantly restored whatever dignity and energy the Sword Tomb had beaten out of him.
Damian stretched his shoulders, cracked his neck, and started walking toward the blacksmith hall with noticeably lighter steps. "Hehehe... Vulkara."
His expression became increasingly pleased as he imagined the stubborn girl’s reaction. "Your master is coming with one hell of a gift."
---
Elder Mirena stood near the Sword Hall entrance with her hands clasped behind her back, her dark-green elder robes shifting faintly in the wind.
Her calm eyes watched as one figure after another walked out of the Sword Tomb.
Some were injured, their robes torn and bodies covered in fresh wounds, while others tightly clutched their newly obtained swords with trembling hands and ridiculously wide smiles plastered across their faces.
Once Mirena finished counting them, she found that around sixty people had successfully come out.
A moment later, the massive stone gate of the Sword Tomb began to tremble.
RUMBLE... BOOM.
The ancient gate slowly closed with a heavy crash, signaling that no one remained inside.
In other words, only these sixty disciples had survived this opening of the Sword Tomb.
Mirena’s gaze calmly swept across the survivors. The result itself was not particularly strange. The Sword Tomb had never been a kind place, and every time it opened, there were always disciples who entered but never walked back out.
Her eyes eventually stopped on one particular figure.
Damian.
For the first time, a faint trace of surprise disturbed Mirena’s normally composed expression. "He came out alive?"
Earlier, when Nolan had walked out of the Sword Tomb with that huge, ugly smile stretched across his face, Mirena had immediately guessed that something had happened inside.
She knew about the conflict between Nolan and Damian.
More importantly, she was also aware of the tension between the Sect Leader and Selvara.
As one of the top elders of the Heavenly Sword Sect, Mirena was hardly blind to the undercurrents moving beneath the sect’s seemingly peaceful surface.
There were plenty of grudges, ambitions, factions, and personal schemes that ordinary disciples would never notice.
Because of that, when Nolan emerged looking so damn satisfied with himself, Mirena had naturally assumed Damian was probably dead.
Yet Damian was standing right there.
Although his complexion was somewhat pale, his clothes were torn and messy, and there were several obvious injuries across his body, he was very much alive.
Mirena studied him for another moment, and soon her expression shifted once again.
There was something unusual coming from Damian’s body... no, not just one thing, but several.
Her eyes sharpened slightly as her spiritual sense caught the faint traces of weapon auras surrounding him.
They were the auras of King-grade weapons, and there wasn’t just one, but several of them.
Mirena’s fingers twitched behind her back. That alone would have been shocking enough, yet beneath those powerful traces lingered numerous other weapon auras as well.
They belonged to Royal-grade weapons. Although they were weaker than King-grade weapons, the sheer number of them was ridiculous.
Even with Mirena’s strict temperament and years of maintaining an elder’s composure, she could not completely conceal the disbelief flashing through her eyes. "This boy... just how many weapons did he take from inside?"
Damian stood among the survivors with a pale face and torn robes, yet somehow, the bastard still managed to look annoyingly proud of himself.
There was no humility in his posture whatsoever.
If anything, he looked like someone who had just robbed the Sword Tomb and was perfectly satisfied with the result.
Mirena stared at him for several breaths before the corner of her lips finally shifted slightly.
It was not a warm smile. Instead, the faint curve was sharp, restrained, and filled with genuine interest.
"Selvara... your disciple really is interesting."
Her gaze lingered on Damian as she sensed those weapon auras once again.
"To think he directly took as many weapons as he possibly could from the Sword Tomb..."
That sounded absurd when put into words. The weapons inside the Sword Tomb were not simply treasures waiting for disciples to pick them up.
Every powerful weapon possessed its own pride, intent, and requirements. Taking one required ability, compatibility, luck, or enough strength to force the damn thing into submission.
Damian had somehow walked out carrying traces of multiple King Grade weapons and a ridiculous number of Royal Grade ones.
That could no longer be called simple luck.
"Anyone can be greedy, but greed means nothing if you don’t have the ability to actually take what you want."
Mirena’s eyes remained fixed on Damian’s departing figure, the interest within them becoming slightly deeper.
"Really interesting..."
A faint hint of amusement entered her otherwise cold expression.
"Selvara, it seems you really did pick up quite an interesting disciple."
