"If you lose such a wonderful wife, you’ll really be letting your brother down." The old man glared.

"I understand now." Damian also regretted, but regret couldn’t solve the problem. What he needed to do now was to do everything he could to win her back.

The old man turned and walked on the cobblestone path into a small pavilion in the neighborhood and waved to the bodyguard next to him after sitting down.

The bodyguard bowed respectfully before retreating outside the pavilion.

This distance ensured the old man’s safety while keeping him out of earshot of the conversation between the old man and the young master.

"Sit." The old man gestured for Damian to sit down, then sighed, "Actually, your brother had been wanting to commit suicide for a long time."

"What?" Even Damian, who was always calm, turned his head sharply at the words.

The old man gazed at the small pond ahead, speaking slowly, "Perhaps the family’s demands on him were too high, giving him immense pressure. We don’t know when he began suffering from depression. By the time we discovered he was injuring himself, his depression had become severe. We hired the best psychiatrist for counseling, but it had little effect. And your brother was mature from a young age; maybe he didn’t want us to worry, so he always pretended to be fine. Even the psychiatrist thought he was recovering, but ultimately, he still ended up taking his own life. Ronan was a trigger in terms of work pressure, unforgivable, but we were all responsible too. At that time, your grandpa was very angry and needed an outlet, and Ronan naturally became the target. However, Ronan’s death was like an alarm bell, waking me up. Damian, everyone only has one life, it’s precious. No matter how much power you hold, you shouldn’t easily decide someone’s life or death. That’s a lesson Ronan’s suicide taught me."

"Grandpa, so you don’t blame Bella?" Damian didn’t expect that his grandfather had long since given up past grudges.

"Wasn’t Young Acker born when Ronan and your brother were competing in business? If such a grudge were to be blamed on her, wouldn’t she be pretty innocent?" The old man said, "Actually, I went to your company today just to meet Young Acker. After spending half a day together, it’s easy to see that she’s a kind-hearted girl. She actually realized I was feigning pity, but thinking of me as an old man, lonely and deserted, she set aside her work to accompany me for a meal. She’s much more filial than you lot of rascals."

"Hmm." Damian’s lips curled into a small smile. The old man’s praise for Bella made him happier than praise for himself.

"Hey, who is Young Acker’s husband now? What does he do? Can you win Young Acker over from him?"

"She should be raising her daughter alone." Damian replied, "I asked Talia, and she said she’s never met her father."

"Then what are you waiting for? Take this opportunity to win her over already!" The old man glared, "By the way, the girl’s name is Talia, right? Do you have a photo? Let me see."

Damian did have a photo of the little girl from that day they went to the sunflower field on an outing.

He took out his phone, scrolled to the photo of the little girl, and handed it to the old man, "This is Talia, I’ve recognized her as my daughter."

"Oh, this little girl looks like she’s carved from jade, so adorable." The old man clung to the phone without letting go, "You’re her father, then I’m officially her great-grandfather. Oh, my dear great-grandchild."
