Chapter 695 - 694: The First Rule of Winning Back Your Wife (38)
Has Young Acker already had a daughter, doesn’t she truly like my grandson?
Oh dear, oh dear, does this mean my grandson will remain a bachelor for life?
The old man sighed, "Ah, it seems my grandson is not blessed."
"Old man, your grandson is so outstanding, surely there are plenty of girls who like him. You needn’t worry about him," Bella Acker comforted him, changing the subject, "Old man, it’s hot, let me cook the hot dishes. You can teach me how to do it."
"How could I let that happen when I said I would cook?"
"Old man, just let me learn." Bella Acker laughed, "You be the teacher, I’ll be the student. I’ll do whatever you say."
The old man chuckled, "Alright. First, start the fire on the stove."
Bella Acker followed the instructions, and although she already knew how to cook, she still acted like a good student, putting in whatever the old man asked her to.
Three hot dishes, one soup, plus a cold cucumber salad with pig’s ears, were laid out on the table as Judy Zimmerman returned with the fruits she had bought.
A pile of fruits nearly filled the fridge’s cooling drawers.
The three of them sat down to eat. The old man seemed genuinely happy, probably because it had been a while since anyone had accompanied him for a meal, and he even had an extra half bowl of rice.
After lunch, Bella Acker and Judy Zimmerman said their goodbyes. The old man saw them to the downstairs, saying, "Young Acker, next time you come to visit, remember to bring your daughter so this great-grandfather can see her."
"Okay. Old man, it’s sunny outside, you should head back in. I’ll come see you again another day." Bella Acker waved, indicating for the old man not to follow them outside, reminding him of the harsh midday sun.
"Then I won’t see you off. Give me a call when you come next time," the old man happily waved them off from the shadowed entryway, leaning on his cane.
Bella Acker and Judy Zimmerman left, and Damian Sinclair emerged from a pavilion in the community.
The old man saw him, snorted coldly, and proceeded to walk out of the community with his cane.
The bodyguards, who had been waiting, immediately came over with sun umbrellas to protect the old man from the sun.
The old man walked expressionlessly, far from the neighborly grandfather he appeared to be with Bella Acker.
Damian sighed and caught up, saying, "Grandpa, what are you doing?"
"What am I doing? Of course, I’m helping you chase your bride!" The old man turned around and swung his cane, but fortunately, Damian reacted quickly and dodged it.
Damian said, "I can pursue her myself; you don’t need to get involved."
"If I don’t get involved, you’ll likely stay a bachelor forever." The old man was exasperated, "Do you know Young Acker already has a daughter who’s a few years old? Damian Sinclair, tell me, aren’t you supposed to be capable? How could you not keep a woman around?"
Damian was speechless, "It’s not like you don’t know her situation. Back then, mom threatened to kill herself; how could I ignore that? Then I got into a car accident, was in a coma for three years, and when we met again, her daughter was already three years old. What could I do?"
"It’s better if we don’t talk about it. I’m getting even more upset." The old man tried to hit him with his cane again but pulled back seeing Damian dodge, stomping it heavily on the ground, saying, "Your mother was confused, but were you confused too? I had told you before, Ronan Rhodes’ issue ended with his death. Did you take my words as the wind in your ears?"
"You should be saying this to my mom," Damian sighed. "At the time, I couldn’t think straight and felt guilty about my big brother."
