"What are we hiding?"

The old master paused, thought for a moment, and continued, "I wasn’t familiar with Ronan Rhodes, nor did I know him well. At the time, because of your brother’s death, our family just wanted him punished. We didn’t look into it too deeply."

With the Sinclair Family’s power, it was too easy to bring down a company built from scratch. They never really thought to investigate if there was something hidden behind it all; their focus was solely on avenging their lost family member.

Sometimes, hatred blinds you, leading you to do things you’ll regret later.

Damian Sinclair nodded, "I’ve been investigating the events of those years, talking to employees and managers from Ronan’s company. According to them, Ronan was a very righteous boss, treating his employees well. He’d even lend money if an employee’s family had an issue. I don’t think someone like that would drive a young person to a dead-end over business matters."

Old Master Sinclair frowned, "Besides that, what else have you discovered?"

"It’s been too long; it’s not easy to investigate. But several managers mentioned someone," Damian said. "That person was Ronan’s partner and a good brother to him, but his style was completely different from Ronan’s."

"Wait, I remember Ronan’s company did have a partner, but by the time we sought revenge, that partner had already sold his shares and left. We targeted Ronan and didn’t look deeper into this person," the old master frowned, thinking, "Right, I think this person was named David Caldwell."

"Yes, I’m already looking into him again."

The old master nodded, "Do you have enough people? If not, I’ll send more help."

"It’s enough," Damian replied. "Alright, the weather’s hot. You should head back."

The old master stood up, considered for a moment, and said seriously, "Damian, if in the end, it turns out we wronged Ronan back then, don’t tell Young Acker."

"I understand," Damian said. "I won’t let her bear the burdens of past grievances. I’ll protect her future."

"Now that’s like a man of the Sinclair Family," the old master patted Damian on the shoulder. "I believe your brother, looking down from the heavens, would be comforted by your decision."

"It was Bella’s words that enlightened me," Damian said with relief. "She said that once a person dies, they know nothing. Whatever the living do for the dead is merely a comfort to themselves. If that’s the case, we shouldn’t act under the guise of doing it for the deceased; it’s unfair to them."

"Speaking of Bella, I heard she’s seriously dating someone. Is that true?" the old master gossipingly asked about his only granddaughter.

"It’s just a one-sided crush now, not a relationship," Damian said. "Someone should really tone down her mischievous nature. Come on, I’ll walk you to your car."

The old master chuckled happily, "Well, dating is good. Only you two aren’t married in our family now. Even your cousin’s kids are in primary school. You two should hurry up."

Damian sighed, "Are you feeling bored every day now? Then come back to Sinclair Group as chairman, or join my company as chairman, so you don’t have to worry about us getting married all the time like Mom."

"You rascal, I’m just doing it for your own good!" the old master grumbled, raising his cane to hit him.

The bodyguards immediately looked away, pretending to see nothing.
