Damian Sinclair, with no expression on his face, took the medicine bag and purse from her hand, saying, "You helped me deal with the wound, so it’s only logical that I escort you back."

"It’s really not necessary." Bella Acker waved her hand. She had just been standing there waiting to see if he would turn back, not actually calling for a ride and waiting for it.

If he insisted on taking her back, wouldn’t the fact that she hadn’t called a car be exposed!

Damian Sinclair frowned, "Are you afraid I’ll eat you?"

"No, I..."

Damian Sinclair didn’t wait for her response and started walking towards the road, asking as he walked, "Where’s the car you called? When is it arriving?"

She hadn’t called a car at all!

Bella Acker pursed her lips and caught up to him, saying, "My phone is in my purse, I need to check to find out."

Damian Sinclair looked back at her, opened her purse directly, and handed her the phone.

Bella Acker intentionally turned slightly away to unlock her phone, pretending to tap twice before locking it again, saying, "Forget it, the driver’s taking too long, I’ll cancel the ride."

"Then let’s hail a cab." Damian Sinclair turned his head and continued to walk to the edge of the road. Bella Acker saw he hadn’t given it much thought and exhaled in relief, clutching her phone to follow him.

By this time, the post-work peak period was long over, and there were quite a few empty cabs on the road. Damian Sinclair walked to the roadside and easily hailed one.

Bella Acker said, "Mr. Sinclair, it’s so late, I can go back by myself, you don’t need to escort me."

"Get in the car." Damian Sinclair directly reached out to open the backseat door for her.

Looking at his stance, it seemed that he absolutely wouldn’t rest tonight unless he sent her home.

Instead of continuing to insist unnecessarily, she might as well let him take her home.

Bella Acker glanced at him and finally bent down to get into the car.

Damian Sinclair followed her in and closed the car door before asking, "Where to?" Surely she wouldn’t be going back to the apartment, so where’s she staying now? A hotel? Or a place arranged by the studio?

"Driver, to Valen Street."

The taxi slowly drove out, and Damian Sinclair asked, "The house arranged by your studio?"

"No. I’m temporarily staying at my godmother’s house, and I’ll look for a place in a while."

"Sharon Cheney?" Damian Sinclair raised an eyebrow and suddenly changed the topic, "Are you going with her to the suburbs tomorrow?"

"How do you know?" Bella Acker turned to him in surprise.

"Old Ford is pursuing her, he mentioned it to me." Damian Sinclair said indifferently.

Bella Acker was a bit surprised, "You get along well with Director Ford?"

"Yeah, after ’Brocade River and Mountain’ did well in the market, I collaborated with him on two more TV dramas, we’ve kept in touch."

Bella Acker nodded, so that’s how it is.

Both of them stopped talking, and the car fell silent, with only the radio playing music.

Bella Acker’s hands tightened slightly on her knees, the aura of Damian Sinclair surrounding her made her a little tense.

She slightly shifted her position, moving to sit a bit further away, trying to avoid any physical contact.

She had almost moved all the way to the car door before stopping and turning to look out the window.

Damian Sinclair saw all her little movements, his stern face tightened, and his abyss-like eyes sank, hiding a surging tidal wave of emotions.

Bella Acker leaned against the car window and didn’t notice Damian Sinclair’s change in mood.

Sitting too close to him earlier, she had been so nervous she could barely breathe, a thin layer of sweat had formed on her palm.

She feared that if he moved any closer, all her defenses would collapse completely.
