Chapter 672 - 671: The First Rule of Pursuing a Wife (15)
The two of them entered the restaurant, and a waiter approached them, asking, "Do you have a reservation?"
"Yes. The name is Young. I called at ten."
"Alright, Miss Young, please follow me." The pretty waitress politely led them to box 006 and said, "Miss Young, would you like to order now?"
"We are expecting company. We will order once they arrive."
"Okay." The waitress acknowledged, then left the room.
Bella Acker and Cynthia Young didn’t have to wait long in the box before Director Simons arrived with others.
"I apologize, I got held up on set for a bit," Director Simons apologized as soon as he entered the room, shaking hands individually with Cynthia and Bella, then said, "Bella, long time no see, you look quite different. You’re looking more beautiful."
Now, Bella Acker had shed the greenness and naïveté of her twenties, her aura and charm greatly improved compared to five years ago. Remarkably, her grace wasn’t the usual sweetness or seduction, but a rare scholarly demeanor akin to a lady from a noble family.
To develop such an air in just five years must have required considerable effort.
"You’re too kind, Director Simons. Please have a seat." Bella smiled faintly, completely devoid of the youthful nervousness she showed when she first met Director Simons five years ago. Whether in speech or in her appropriately timed smile, she seemed like a different person.
Director Simons and the two he brought along took seats, and Cynthia called for the waiter to order.
Once the dishes were served, they all drank together, and after a few rounds, Director Simons finally said, "Bella, I’m planning to start a small-market art film aimed at awards, titled ’Unfinished Life.’ You’ve just returned to the country; I wonder if you’d be interested in being a part of it?"
"It’s an honor to collaborate with Director Simons." Bella stood up, raising her glass in the process, and said, "For Director Simons’ films, I have no reason not to participate."
"Hahaha, wonderful. I’ll drink it all; you go at your own pace." They clinked glasses, and Director Simons downed his drink in one go.
Bella smiled faintly and promptly picked up the wine glass, finishing her wine.
"Impressive! I love working with someone like Bella who isn’t pretentious." Director Simons said, "Bella, if you take on ’Unfinished Life,’ I won’t shortchange you. How about the lead female role?"
Bella was a bit surprised and delighted, "Director Simons, isn’t it a bit unsuitable for me to take on such a major role?"
"Whether it’s suitable is for me to decide. I only ask if you can do it." Director Simons said earnestly, "Bella, just tell me if you can perform well as the lead in ’Unfinished Life’?"
"I will do my best to interpret the role well and won’t disappoint Director Simons," Bella replied sincerely.
"Good, it’s settled then," Director Simons said, "But I must first explain that I’m making this film to win awards. Since the film is very realistic, the box office may not be great, and by then there will inevitably be some comments online saying the lead female role couldn’t boost the box office because your fame isn’t large enough, so you should be prepared for that."
"Don’t worry, Director Simons, I don’t frequent Weibo much," Bella smiled slightly, "Moreover, others’ comments can’t hinder my progress. Greater pressure is just stronger motivation for me right now."
Bella’s smile was full of confidence; the learning and changes over five years meant she was no longer the twenty-year-old girl who knew nothing.
