Chapter 631 - 630: Reunion (26)
Hearing him say this, Bella Acker truly dared not struggle anymore.
She asked softly, "The wound is deep, shouldn’t we go to the hospital?"
"No, I really hate hospitals right now," Damian Sinclair said, "The smell of disinfectant makes me nauseous."
"Why? You didn’t mind going to hospitals before, did you?" Bella was puzzled earlier but hadn’t asked. Now that he mentioned it, she followed up with her question.
Damian’s eyes darkened, and he remained silent.
He wouldn’t tell her about the car accident that left him in a hospital for three years, almost costing him his life.
He knew her temperament well. If she knew he was rushing to see her when the accident happened and nearly died because of it, she’d be burdened with guilt for life.
"Hmm?" Not hearing a response, Bella slightly raised her head, but thinking the movement might touch his wound, she retracted.
"No particular reason, just don’t like it now."
Bella was stunned; did he have such willful moments too? It seemed a bit endearing.
Thinking of this, the corners of Bella’s lips unconsciously curved up slightly, and her nose gently sniffed at his embrace instinctively.
It had been five years, yet he still used the same cologne as before. The scent was light, reminiscent of bamboo.
Because back then, she had mentioned she liked it, he never switched scents.
Does his current girlfriend also like the scent of this cologne?
Bella’s wandering mind snapped back to clarity; she lightly moved and said, "Mr. Sinclair, your wound is still bleeding. Please let go so I can tend to it."
Damian seemed to sigh before releasing her, saying, "Aren’t you afraid of so much blood? I’ll do it myself."
"It’s okay, I’m not scared now." Bella shook her head, dipped some iodine, and continued to clean his wound.
Just as Damian’s expression had softened a bit, it turned stern again.
Why wasn’t she scared anymore? Was it because over these five years, she had taken care of others’ wounds? Whose?
Damian looked down at her and asked, "Aren’t you married? Why aren’t you wearing a wedding ring?"
Bella’s hand paused for a moment, then she casually discarded the bloodied swab, grabbed a new one, and continued tending to his wound as she said, "I accidentally lost it and haven’t bought a new one yet."
She really did get married!
Damian’s heart felt like it had been punched hard, constricting painfully.
He suddenly felt that all his actions today were ridiculous. Ever since he saw her at the airport and learned she returned to the country, his behavior became extremely absurd.
Even though the company’s management was waiting for his return to a meeting, he went to the apartment instead. At the apartment, he didn’t know what to do, overwhelmed with emotions because she was back.
After drinking and taking a shower, he walked out only to find her in the living room. For a moment, he thought it was just another hallucination of his.
And that phone call, how childish a move. He wasn’t sure whether he wanted to regain some dignity or provoke her and see her get jealous. In the past, he never stooped to such childish antics.
Then, in The Seraphina Garden, he could have avoided going into the private room but still went in. Seeing her chat and laugh with Archer Quinn, he immaturely mocked and taunted her deliberately.
If there had been a mirror in front of him at that moment, he might not have recognized himself.
She had married and had children with another man, what was he expecting?
To be her affair partner outside of marriage?
