Chapter 649 - 648: Reunion (44)
Damian wanted to say, "I love eating your mom the most," but to avoid setting a bad example for the child, he could only reply earnestly.
"Anything’s fine."
"Talia, don’t play in the water for too long, or you’ll catch a cold," Bella Acker said. "Your uncle likes spicy peppers. Can you help him grill one?"
"Sure!" The little girl clapped her hands. "Uncle, if you eat the pepper I grill, you’ll be my uncle for life!"
"Pfft!" Bella Acker and Sharon Cheney couldn’t help but laugh at her words.
Damian’s eyes also held a hint of amusement. "Sure, that’s fine, but I already have someone I like. You don’t mind, do you?"
Bella Acker’s heart skipped a beat when she heard him say he already has someone he likes.
When Damian mentioned the person he liked, he glanced in her direction, and Bella immediately looked away, pretending to focus on washing vegetables.
The little girl, sharp-witted, followed Damian’s gaze and seemed to understand everything, "Oh!" She beckoned Damian over with her tiny finger.
No one had ever dared to beckon him over like that.
Damian raised an eyebrow and leaned down to whisper next to the little girl’s head, "What’s up?"
The little girl leaned close to his ear and whispered, "Uncle, so you like Mommy?"
"Did you figure it out?"
"I’m so smart," the little girl said proudly. "Uncle, if you want to pursue Mommy, you have to win me over first."
There was a flicker of something unusual in Damian’s eyes. "If I pursue your mom, then what about your dad?"
The little girl frowned, continued whispering, "Uncle, I’ll tell you a secret, but you can’t tell Mommy, okay? Actually, I’ve never even seen Daddy. Mommy says Daddy is too busy with work to live with us. But I think, no matter how busy, you should still love your wife. I don’t really want that Daddy."
Damian’s heart skipped a beat. Are she and her husband separated for a long time? Is there a relationship issue, or...is there no husband at all!
Damian abruptly looked up at Bella Acker, then back at the little girl, nervously asking, "Talia, how old are you this year?"
"I’m three," Talia held up three little fingers, which was something she had agreed with Mommy not to tell the uncle.
Three years old, that timeline doesn’t match.
For a moment just now, he almost thought Talia was his daughter and that Bella Acker never got married abroad, and her stories were just an excuse to keep him away.
But Talia’s age didn’t match. She was born two years after Bella Acker left. At that time, he was in a coma in bed due to a car accident, making it impossible for him to have anything to do with the child.
"Uncle, what’s wrong?" The little girl waved her small hand in front of his face as she noticed him lost in thought.
"Nothing," Damian grasped her small hand. "If I pursue your mom, how will you help me?"
"Well, that depends on how uncle wins me over." The little girl mischievously winked at him.
"Toys? Barbie dolls? Pumpkin carriage?"
"Who wants such childish things?" Talia rolled her eyes at him disdainfully. "Uncle is so silly, doesn’t know how to make girls happy."
"Then what do you like?"
"Cute little boys."
Damian frowned, "Beside that, what else do you like?"
"That’s the only thing I like." Talia pouted, "Uncle, why are you fussier than Mommy?"
Hearing her say that, Damian realized that he actually didn’t like the idea of Talia being wooed away by other little guys, feeling an inexplicable fatherly instinct.
