Chapter 353 - 203: Which Constantine?

Baron had escaped.

He had escaped in plain sight of everyone.

No one knew how to describe the scene, or even where to begin.

All they knew was that as Wax Dragon Bad descended with overwhelming gales and thunderbolts, the Griffins in the sky were thrown into disarray. On the ground, the dark mass of the Dragon Tide, and even the subspecies Gale Dragons, had trembled and cried out in fear. Then, Wax Dragon Bad summoned another gale to lift its tattered wings and ascend.

When they looked back at the center of the plaza, the Dragon Tide had receded like an ebbing flood, leaving only the mangled corpses of Dragon Devourer Cultists, Dragon Descendants, and some Trial Takers and Dragon Guides. Baron was gone.

The two Silver Dragon Guides instantly understood. "A Pure-blood Ancient Dragon... Wax Dragon Bad is the Pure-blood Ancient Dragon contracted to Constantine!"

Hearing this, the assembled Dragon Guides instinctively glanced at the empty Dragon Spear Plaza, then at the empty Dragon Bone. Their minds couldn’t help but recall the young man’s earth-shattering feats in the mountains.

The image of the young man casually drawing the Dragon Spear and effortlessly using it to hold back the Dragon Tide was particularly vivid, seared deep into their memories.

Before, they might have harbored some skepticism toward the two Silver Dragon Guides, whose credibility had taken a hit. (The two had been publicly proven wrong by Master Jack so many times that some of the Low Tier Dragon Guides no longer trusted their words.)

But now, after everything the young man had revealed, they couldn’t deny it. Seeing even the Gale Dragons recoil in fear left no doubt: the Dragon Knight they spoke of could only be him.

"So he was never a Golden Dragon Guide... He’s simply a Dragon Knight, a Dragon Knight contracted to a Pure-blood Ancient Dragon!

To think I was competing with a Pure-blood Dragon Knight all along. It’s laughable, really."

Another Dragon Guide sighed in agreement.

"A Dragon Knight of a Pure-blood Ancient Dragon... In all these years, I thought only the Dragon Family had one, before their fall a century ago... Back then, as the Red Dragon Guardians, they signed the Knight Law with the now-missing Fire Dragon Su’Er..."

"A Dragon Knight... To think the Constantine Family’s infamous Bloodless is actually a Pure-blood Dragon Knight... For the Constantines to have expelled someone like him from the Inner Side is a massive loss for them."

"So he’s a Pure-blood Dragon Knight, and a Bronze Tier one at that. No wonder he could assassinate Anthony..."

"No, that’s not right. I remember the papers from seven years ago still called him a Bloodless, yet the Spiritual Pressure he’s displaying now is Bronze Tier... Even if he had become a Dragon Knight back then, that would mean... wait, he reached Bronze Tier in seven years!?"

After steadying themselves on their Griffins, the surrounding Trial Takers also pieced together the most crucial point from the Dragon Guides’ exclamations.

"Even Silver Lion Wilder and the eldest daughter of the Beowulf Family took about that long to reach Bronze, didn’t they? Is this Baron Constantin some kind of genius?"

They then instinctively turned their gaze toward another Griffin, where Freya sat with a cold, stony expression.

If their speculation was true, they wondered if the princess of Lancelot’s Family felt even a sliver of regret.

"A genius who reached Bronze in seven years? Now this is getting interesting."

Bronze Saint Elvin looked at Lian and Cui Fa Nun Camilla. "The last time you tried to capture Baron Constantin, how exactly did he behave? If he has Bronze Tier strength, why would he flee?"

Lian said coldly, "According to Bill’s testimony, Baron became a Dragon Knight by forming the contract right then and there. Before that, Bill had performed a Demon Hunter’s execution ritual on him. If Baron had been hiding his Tier, he wouldn’t have waited until after enduring an execution to reveal his strength."

Camilla thought for a moment. "The day I flirted with him, he was definitely just Black Iron Tier."

Bronze Saint Elvin concluded, "In that case, our Mr. Constantine isn’t just a genius; he’s a bona fide prodigy."

"Ladies..." Elvin said. "It seems this mission of ours is destined to end in failure as well."

"Brother..."

Windsor looked at her brother, Pound, with concern. His face had been livid ever since he first saw Baron, and it only darkened upon learning he was a Pure-blood Dragon Knight.

Hearing his sister’s voice, Pound snapped out of it. He clenched his fists, rubbed his nose, and tried to act nonchalant. "It’s nothing..."

’He’s lying again,’ Windsor thought. ’He has no idea that, psychologically speaking, people make subconscious, trivial movements when they lie out of guilt.’

Windsor sighed inwardly but outwardly comforted her brother, Pound, suggesting that after this incident, perhaps the Old Blood Clans would no longer dare to use Mr. Baron as leverage against the Constantine Clan.

"Go after him," Elder Pence commanded, his face dark as he listened to the chatter around him.

The Knight Commander of the Griffin Knight Order urged his Griffin forward. "Wax Dragon Bad is a Pure-blood Ancient Dragon. Its Status Suppression is too powerful; the Griffins don’t dare approach. I think we should take advantage of the Dragon Tide’s dispersal to head into the mountains..."

Elder Pence shot the Knight Commander a look, and the commander immediately bowed his head.

Elder Pence said, "I don’t want to hear what you think; I want you to do what I think. Take the Griffin Knights who aren’t carrying passengers and follow him!"

Outside the mountain range, the people watching everything unfold through the viewing screen fell silent.

The Patriarchs and Elders of the Old Blood Clans, the high-ranking officials from the Law Enforcement Organization—all were silent.

It was as if the rain from the mountains had followed them here, leaving everyone speechless in the downpour.

"A Dragon Knight... The first Dragon Knight in the world to be acknowledged by a Pure-blood Ancient Dragon and draw the Dragon Spear since the fall of the Dragon Family!"
