Chapter 389 - 220: Is That Constantine on the Street? Part 2
Moreover, his transformation from a Bloodless to a Dragon Knight was sensationalized by smaller media outlets, who concocted storylines worthy of the hot-blooded, underdog web novels from the Baron's previous life.
They spun tales of him undergoing a trial for Miss Lancelot, or of a tragic separation born from unrequited love. Because of these stories, the Baron had even captured the hearts of numerous sheltered young ladies from various Old Blood Clans, including not a few from cadet branches of the Lancelot, Hestia, and Fran families.
It was no surprise. The news depicted the Baron as powerful, mysterious, stoic, and resilient. The portraits of him were exceptionally handsome, and on top of it all, he was the world's one and only Dragon Knight. He was, in short, the perfect dream lover, tailor-made for the Old Blood of the Inner Side.
And this was all without the Old Blood Clans and the Law Enforcement Organization revealing that he had formed a pact with a Pure-blood Ancient Dragon and had drawn the Beowulf Clan's Supreme Holy Object, the Dragon Spear—something no one had managed to do for thousands of years.
If all this classified information were to get out... well, in Jack's words: "..."
Jack was speechless, because one cannot imagine a feeling one has never experienced.
The famous Old Race director who had previously spoken of making a film about the Baron's escape now re-emerged, declaring once again his intent to shoot a biopic about Dragon Knight Constantine, chronicling his legendary journey of flight and growth to date.
They had even settled on a title: The Legend of the Bloodless.
It was safe to say he was the talk of Inner London. Neither the renowned Templar Knight, Silver Lion Wilder, nor the London Tower's Super Mage, Yanni, nor the Soul Mage from Edinburgh Wizard Academy, nor even the Sixth Generation Abraham of the Van Helsing Family could hold a candle to his current fame.
This was why the crowd on the street had such a massive reaction when they heard it was Lawbreaker Constantine.
"Look, they're chasing Constantine! It's really him—the legendary Bloodless, Constantine!"
"Dragon Knight Constantine, we're with you! Take down those Old Blood Clans! You got this!"
"Lord Constantine! Keep going! Don't let those Law Enforcers catch you!"
Waves of shouts erupted from the crowd, interfering with the pursuing Law Enforcers. At first, Lion Knights maintaining public order came over to berate the onlookers, but as the crowd grew, they could only offer token reprimands and pull away anyone who tried to obstruct the pursuit.
"A vile Bloodless, a Lawbreaker who harms the innocent and colludes with a Witch... and the masses call him a hero. Their ignorance is astounding!"
Jill snorted coldly, summoned his long spear, and spurred his Griffin onward. He saw the Dragon Knight abruptly disappear around a corner, but when they caught up, they found themselves in a dead end.
Lawbreaker Constantine had vanished without a trace.
"We lost him," one of his subordinate Griffin Knights reported after scouting the area. "Constantine escaped using some unknown method. The other Griffin Knights watching from above lost track of him, too."
They had been on their Griffins and in pursuit the moment the Baron burst out the back door, but he had still managed to escape. Constantine was truly as skilled at fleeing as the rumors claimed; no wonder even Silver Lion Wilder had been bested by him.
Jill frowned. He hadn't noticed how Constantine had disappeared, either. There wasn't even a shred of Spiritual Pressure left behind.
The two Battle Nuns scanned the area, but they couldn't see the Dragon Knight either.
Adam of the Van Helsing Family hadn't spotted him either, though considering his rather unhinged personality, he had probably already scampered off somewhere like a stray dog.
Camilla said, "It's just like last time. The kid used some method to vanish in an instant... I suspect it's some kind of Taboo Item."
Bronze Saint Elvin, arriving late to the scene, stroked his chin thoughtfully for a moment. "Our Mr. Constantine is becoming quite the handful," he said. "At the rate he's growing, I'm afraid the next person sent to capture him won't be a Bronze Saint like me, but a Silver Saint."
"Oh, but I almost forgot. The Silver-Tier Wilder couldn't catch him either, apparently."
Elvin continued, "Terrifying, isn't he? A Pure-blood Dragon Knight. What do you think, Mr. Hestia? If you ask me, you should marry Miss Lancelot sooner rather than later. Given the power and personality Mr. Constantine has displayed, I have a feeling he might just show up to crash the wedding."
Hearing this, one of Jill's Griffin Knights bristled, ready to defend his deputy commander's honor, but Jill held him back.
'The people from the Holy Mechanism are all lunatics. No point in engaging with them.'
Expressionless, Jill ordered his men, "Search every street in this area. Find Constantine, no matter what."
"That won't be necessary," Elvin called out, stopping the Griffin Knight who was about to relay the order.
Jill's voice was cold. "Is this your idea of cooperating with the Griffin Knight Order, Mr. Elvin?"
But Elvin replied, "You misunderstand me, Mr. Hestia. I mean that I've already sensed Constantine's location. It seems he's gone back to the Dwarf Clinic... No, wait. It's not just him. Adam of the Van Helsing Family is there too..."
BOOM!
A massive explosion suddenly ripped through the district, followed by another, and another. The light from the rising flames flickered across the faces of the crowd.
By the time everyone arrived at the scene of the explosions, they saw a long street torn apart by deep craters, gouged out by a force of pure, savage destruction. A naked and battered Adam lay in one of the pits, surrounded by a crowd of onlookers—some trembling, some pointing, and others wailing in despair.
Jill grabbed one of them and demanded to know what had happened.
The onlooker, who had witnessed the entire event, said with a tremor in his voice, "A dragon... a red dragon was fighting the Demon Hunter."
'A... red dragon?'
Jill's mind reeled. Just then, he saw the unconscious Adam stir, revived by a Healing Magic Card from a responding medic Wizard. Adam's first words were, "He doesn't fight fair... sucker punched me... I let my guard down, didn't even see it coming... If only my Blood Race Blood hadn't been stolen..."
Jill pressed him, "What about Constantine? Where did he go? And what was that about a dragon?"
A suspicion began to form in his mind, but it was a suspicion he didn't dare to believe. 'How is that possible? How could that *possibly* be real!'
But Adam just said, "He Transformed into a Dragon... That guy can Transform into a Dragon... That level of Assimilation... It's either his Old Blood, or he's on the verge of becoming Silver Tier."
Silver!
All the Law Enforcers on site drew a sharp, collective breath. They felt dazed, as if they were dreaming, but the shrill chatter of the surrounding crowd was a clear reminder that this was no dream—it was real.
"The Constantine Family's Old Blood? As I recall, it's a dual affinity with Law, right? That doesn't explain how he could Transform into a Dragon so completely... But Silver Tier? Impossible! Even Wilder was much older when he..."
"He was still Bronze Tier back in the Dracul Mountain Range... H-how... how is he Silver already? How is that possible?"
"But if he's not Silver Tier... he couldn't have beaten Adam so easily... Besides, that Transformation... a form that complete... even if he's not quite Silver, he must be on the absolute cusp of it."
"So... Constantine might actually be Silver Tier? If I'm not mistaken, he's only in his early twenties, right? Even if his time as a Bloodless was just an act... that would mean he reached Silver Tier in about ten years? That's... that's just unscientific."
The Law Enforcer never imagined he'd have a reason to use the word 'unscientific' in his line of work.
Bronze Saint Elvin closed the Holy Scripture he had been holding open. "Our Mr. Constantine," he mused, "is becoming more and more of a problem."
"And more and more delightful," Camilla said with a smile. "A Silver-Tier Dragon Knight... I'm terribly curious what he tastes like." Her generous bust and sheer black stockings had been attracting sidelong glances from the nearby Law Enforcers this whole time.
Their gazes didn't linger for long, however, as they were once again rocked by the realization that this Lawbreaker, Baron Constantin, was quite possibly the youngest person in the history of the Inner Side to ever reach the Silver Tier.
