Chapter 141: Towards the War
"By the Mister, is there something important happening in the country? I recently joined the war, but I have not received any orders."
Tyler sat at a tea stall while sipping on milk tea as he asked.
"Just call me Ashok."
The shopkeeper chuckled as he took out a flyer and passed it to Tyler.
[NEW SPIRIT VEINS DISCOVERED
JOIN THE WAR AND PROTECT THE COUNTRY]
Reading the leaflet, Tyler couldn’t help but feel strange.
Weren’t Spirit Veins considered very scarce? Normally, it would take hundreds of years for a new Spirit Vein to emerge.
But how could two new Spirit Veins suddenly appear on the borders of Purple Cloud Country?
And more importantly, both happened to be Mid-Grade Spirit Veins?
This wouldn’t just start a conflict between three countries. It could even force the Dark Raven Country to make a move.
Even Yellow Sand Country would cross several smaller countries and attack Purple Cloud Country.
After all, the only reason why those smaller countries weren’t attacked were because they didn’t have a lot of resources.
Yellow Sand Country existed above Red Hogg Country, giving it an easier route to Purple Cloud.
Dark Raven Country existed just next to the Purple Cloud Country but on the western side.
Green River Forest was next to Red Hogg Country, making it a border from the east.
That’s why Red Hogg Country was only connected to the ocean through the southern side, which was why that area was the first target for the fishman race.
Not just Red Hogg Country but also Green River Country and Golden Horn Country were also connected to the ocean directly.
Purple Cloud Country and Dark Raven Country had several smaller countries and one big country surrounding them.
’With this many enemies, this country might simply collapse, but it could also surrender.’
’Then again, with this kind of promotion for the war, it seems they will fight till their last breath.’
’It’s just that something doesn’t feel right.’
Tyler shook his head, no longer thinking anything more about this issue. Even if something was wrong, he would face it head-on.
"I think Commanders are taking time to recruit more cultivators for this war. A single platoon holds around three hundred cultivators."
"Previously, there used to be six platoons stationed in that Mid-Grade Spirit Vein. This time, they would need to send more people to other Spirit Veins."
"I used to think having more Spirit Veins is a blessing. Now, I am starting to doubt my own belief."
Ashok couldn’t help but sigh helplessly.
"The government will send even someone like me to the war in no time."
Tyler didn’t say anything to make him feel better. Because this wasn’t something he could control.
There was one thing he could do. Take control of one of the Mid-Grade Spirit Veins.
’Thinking about it, if I take their Spirit Vein, wouldn’t the war stop on its own?’
While thinking about it, Tyler asked the tower with his thoughts.
’Tower, can you directly absorb the Spirit Vein inside?’
"It is possible. Since you have reached the first floor, you have gained control over my abilities."
"I can not only be used to store something but also as a defensive artifact. Though using me as a defense could attract a lot of unwanted attention."
"By the way, I am also extremely powerful against souls."
Hearing that, Tyler smiled but quickly corrected his expression before finishing his tea.
He paid for the tea with five gold coins before leaving the tea stall.
Since they weren’t going to find him early, he might just go back and continue his cultivation.
This town was very boring. Because of the war, there was almost no entertainment.
Because of his boredom, he spent the next two days doing nothing but training inside the tower.
He practiced the Sword Drawing Technique, which was also his foundational Sword Technique.
On the third day, he finally got a visit from the commander of this country.
He was a tall man, wearing a white coat with a curly mustache. He looked at Tyler, giving him a long glance before saying.
"My name is Mike. I am your commander and also the commander of the seventh platoon."
"Although you will work under me, as long as your actions don’t harm your comrades, you can fight however you want."
Asking a bunch of superhuman beings to cooperate in unison was impossible, especially when they were cultivators.
Cultivators put their personal freedom above everything else.
Tyler nodded and introduced himself.
"My name is Shiro. My goal is to kill as many enemies as possible and gain access to Mid-Grade Spirit Vein and reach Soul Sublimation Realm."
His reply put a smile on Mike’s face. He liked honest people. Since Tyler made his intentions clear, he naturally wouldn’t give him any trouble.
Especially after learning about his situation.
"Follow me! We will meet up with our platoon before going for the Number 1 Mid-Grade Spirit Vein."
Mike turned around and walked out of the hotel.
Tyler quickly followed after him. After they crossed a certain distance, Tyler spoke.
"With two more Spirit Veins, more countries will attack your country. Are you prepared to face them?"
Mike paused slightly for a moment before saying.
"No, but we will persevere."
"If you can’t, you can always surrender to my family. I believe my family won’t mind having a counter under its control."
Tyler casually spoke, trying to impress him with his non-existent background.
Mike clenched his fists and said.
"Thank you for your suggestion, but we can keep our country safe."
Tyler nodded.
"I will do my best. I don’t like thinking and planning. Fighting is my forte."
"Pfft! What kind of lies are you spouting?"
Jenny almost spat flames out of her mouth when she heard his words.
She had never seen someone with so many thoughts, plans, actions, and even personalities.
If there was one thing Tyler lacked, it was strength. If there was one thing Tyler wouldn’t like, it was thinking.
She was sure that Tyler was already thinking about the appearance of two Spirit Veins even though he tried not to think about it.
Of course, she couldn’t guarantee that, but she had come to understand Tyler’s personality better after their dual cultivations.
Just like how Tyler could see through her acting, Jenny could feel his emotions, raw emotions absorbing a small portion of his Yang Energy.
Yang Energy wasn’t just another form of energy. For men, it was another form of their life force.
It contained their life energy, their emotions, and even thoughts.
Of course, their dual cultivation hadn’t reached the synchrony to read each other’s minds or even emotions to that extent.
Jenny could do it because during dual cultivation she was absorbing Yang Energy alongside Yin-Yang Energy.
This was normal since most of the Yang Energy was contained within his sperm.
Every time it was released, she was bound to extract Yang Energy from it.
That being said, Tyler didn’t care about her accusation.
He was acting, and he loved acting.
Mike believed in his words and smiled.
"I hope to see your power soon."
Just as they continued conversing, they soon reached outside the back gates of the city.
Unlike the normal six platoons, there were nine, and the platoon only had around a hundred people.
Mike took Tyler to the seventh platoon, where he found a lot of people curiously looking at him.
Unlike him, most people didn’t get invited by their commanders.
This might sound strange, but considering his background, they still tried to give him some special treatment.
Mike stood in front of his platoon, and with a solemn expression, he spoke.
"Our country is being invaded. You are all cultivators, and I can’t expect you to work together."
"But this is for your country, your people, your family. We must keep the enemies out of our country."
"So, show your spirit of a warrior and hide your presence as a cultivator. Show your might to your enemies and show your loyalty to your comrades."
"From this moment onward, you are not a cultivator but a warrior."
"So, are you with me? Are you a warrior?"
"YES!"
Although Tyler expected a loud noise, he still underestimated humans’ enthusiasm towards being a warrior.
Being a warrior or even a soldier wasn’t just a responsibility. It was also a pride, a badge of honor.
Even if they were cultivators, they still wanted to keep this honor.
Mike smiled at their enthusiasm and said.
"Let’s go!"
In an instant, he turned into a white dot as he rushed towards the east.
Two more of the platoons followed after them as they made their way to the Number One Spirit Vein.
Although Tyler knew what he wanted and how it would play out, he still couldn’t stop his heart from beating with excitement.
’This is amazing. This is the feeling of being a human, not the heartlessness and lack of emotions of a cultivator.’
’Haha! I can’t wait to show off my strength.’
