Chapter 226: Last Day Of The Summit
It was the third and final day of the summit and it was only scheduled to take up the first half of the day with the latter half reserved for ’friendly mingling’ in another hall.
The good thing is that all the ’heavier’ subjects were already covered the last two days and today was just meant for the lighter topics like discussing things like tourism and making agreements for continued cooperation between the nations.
Siti and Diana sat through the entire thing leaning themselves against me and making it really obvious that we definitely deepened our relationship in the last few days to anyone who wasn’t completely clueless.
Dan was even looking back and giving me his shit eating grin like he had already figured out I was banging the two Mortal Goddesses and gave me a thumbs up when he saw me looking at him.
Yep... He definitely knows.
"You have interesting Guardians," Diana commented, using me as a backrest while she scrolled through her phone and looking at... Cat pictures.
"Hmm... They are nice," Siti added, leaning her head on my shoulder casually while she also scrolled through her phone, though she seemed to be looking at dog pictures instead.
"Well... They are a colourful bunch," I admitted, nodding at Dan discreetly to get him to turn back to face the front. "What’s the plan after this though?"
Diana turned back to look at me, "Hmm? Do you want to go somewhere?"
"No, I mean... They plan for everyone to head to the next hall for refreshments right? But it’s also so that everyone can talk to each other in a casual setting. So..."
"Ah, you’re wondering if we should also attend it? Well, we don’t have to if we don’t want to."
Siti turned to me, "Hmm... You want to go right? Since this is, after all, your first summit here."
I shrugged, "I thought it might be a good idea to show my face there at least since it’s my first time. Not literally of course. The mask stays on."
Diana sighed, "Well, I guess I don’t have a choice but to accompany you then."
I grimaced, "Ah... No need to do that on my behalf though. If you don’t want to, you don’t need to."
Siti chuckled, "Fufu~ Don’t worry. She’s just saying that there’s nothing else that’s interesting to do here if you aren’t around. So we’ll just follow along anyway, don’t worry about it."
"Well... I don’t think we can stick this close together when we’re there though."
"A shame," Diana groaned mockingly.
As if on cue, they announced that the summit would officially come to an end and asked if the three of us had any words to say.
I’m pretty sure that this was just a formality and they did not actually expect any of us to say anything but... I felt like I had to.
I leaned forward, prompting both Siti and Diana to shift themselves away from me to give me space as I spoke into the microphone, aware that all eyes were now on me.
"Everyone... I would like to preface this by stating that I am still new to my role as Mortal God. But I believe that all of us in this world, including our friends who had to escape from their home world to seek refuge in ours, we all share the same goal of wanting a safe home we can live in."
Some of the Guardians turned to look in my direction, specifically the ones who were not from our World.
I continued, "We all share a common enemy in the Anomalies. Even now, portals are still appearing even as we close them, it is a never ending trial that we have to face so long as these Anomalies continue to exist. As a Mortal God, I gladly shoulder the burden of defending this world against that threat but even as a Mortal God, I cannot do that alone. I need the support of my Guardians, my people, and everyone else that supports me. I would just like to remind everyone that each of us bear a greater burden above ourselves as we are the first and last line protecting this World of ours from being overrun by Anomalies. The last thing we should do is to fall into infighting and allow the Anomalies to destroy us. Never forget that."
I then shifted my gaze to the other worlders that were standing in front of the stage, "And to the ones who have crossed into our world to seek a new home and also chose to help us fight back against these monsters, I thank all of you for your dedication and help in protecting our home."
I nodded at them and they also gave me a nod in return before I leaned back again.
"That was so corny," Diana chuckled, though she made sure to keep her voice down so only we could hear her. "Do you do speeches like that often?"
I rolled my eyes and chose not to answer her.
"I thought it was nice though," Siti commented with a soft giggle.
The emcee waited to see if Siti and Diana had anything to add before announcing the end of the summit and the crowd clapped their hands for my small speech a little belatedly.
We were then directed to leave the stage to rejoin our Guardians before our ’handlers’ guided us to the next hall.
My representative, Charlotte, was giving me odd looks as though wondering if I was going to tell her about the change in my relationship with Siti and Diana but she chose not to comment on it.
We were then shown the way to the next hall where tables had been laid out around the hall and spreads of food and drink were set up on each of them.
There were no chairs to sit on so this setting was designed so that the participants would walk around the space freely and interact with each other.
The only difference is that there was a table with three seats at the far end that was set aside obviously for us, just in case the Mortal Gods do not want to walk around like everyone else.
I couldn’t help but take a look at all the food laid out on the tables and they have some good stuff here.
Too bad I can’t take them for my family to try...
Ahem... No, no... That would be something improper of me to--
"Liyana, pack some of the food for us," Siti called out casually.
The other woman didn’t even look surprised and just simply took out a tupperware box and went over to the tables to start putting food in it.
On the other side, Diana also instructed someone to do the same as well and they both started putting food into the containers like it’s the most normal thing to do in the world.
I looked back at my Guardians who were also looking back at me.
Dan immediately shook his head to show that he didn’t bring anything like that and I doubt anyone else would have brought a tupperware box either until Jia Lian sheepishly took out one.
I cleared my throat, "Ahem... I don’t need any but... If you want to take some for yourself, go ahead."
Jia Lian gave me another sheepish smile before she went over to the tables to join the other two in putting food inside the container.
Olivia turned to me, "Is this something that is normal to do? I apologise, my Lord, I was unaware..."
I waved my hand at her, "No, no... It’s just a culture for us, so don’t worry about it."
Siti turned to me, "Hmm... Will you be walking around and talking to people?"
I shrugged, "I guess I might. I’ll have to see how it goes later."
She hummed before moving over to the table at the end of the hall.
Diana also turned to me, "You’re really going to talk to those politicians?"
She’s speaking as though she was asking if I was going to talk to some evil beings or something.
"I think I should at least introduce myself to the people here at the very least. After all, I was seated in the same room as them for three days and watched them debate over policies that would basically influence how people would live their lives in this region."
"You’re really one of a kind huh. Well, I’m not interested so once you’ve lost interest in them, come over and join us."
She then followed after Siti without another word, her Guardians following close behind her while giving me odd looks.
At this point, I’m pretty sure both Siti’s and Diana’s Guardians were suspecting that their Mortal Goddesses were sleeping with me and I can’t tell whether they liked the idea or not.
Oh well... We’re already at the stage where I’m having orgies with both of them and my Guardians at the same time so... Let’s just not think about it...
How the heck did I end up in this position anyway?
