I didn’t run after it, I was simply using [Shadow Glide] to quite literally ’skate’ after it while holding my egg the entire time.

The creature was running frantically away from me, leaving scratches on the wall as it tried its best to get away.

"Hello~ Why are you running?" I called out after it, skating through the corridors and ignoring everything else to focus on the creature.

It tried to turn around the corner but ended up skidding along the floor and crashing into the wall.

I took that opportunity to catch up to it, holding my egg with one hand to free the other which I then reached out to grab its leg before it could run away.

I pulled at it, tripping it and sending it falling onto the ground with a loud thud.

It tried to reach behind to slice at me with its claws so I blocked it with my tail by smacking at its wrist to force it away.

I then proceeded to give it a slap across its face with my tail as well before lifting it up by the foot I was grabbing, letting it dangle upside down with the upper half of its body forced on the ground.

I stepped on the hand that it had tried to swipe at me with and tilted my head at it, "Now, now. I suggest you should behave and answer my questions so that you don’t suffer more. Agreed?"

The creature did not seem to agree and tried to slash at me again, so I gave it a quick kick in its side.

It made a distressed sound so I kicked it again, "Are we agreed?"

It made another sound but said nothing else.

"I’m looking to get out of here. Guide me to the exit."

The creature made another distressed sound and I somehow understood that it did not want to cooperate.

That was quickly fixed by another kick from me and it quickly nodded its head while waving its other hand quickly, showing that it was willing to cooperate now.

I let go of it and the subdued creature started leading the way, moving with deliberate movements as though it was afraid that if it moved too fast, I would smack it again.

Eventually, it led us to a specific corridor that seemed to be littered with a few pieces of random objects scattered around on the floor.

Aside from that, there was nothing else around us and certainly no exits in sight either.

Although... When I asked it for the exit, I wasn’t expecting it to lead me to a place where I could get out of this entire place to begin with since I know that things here don’t exactly work like that. I probably have to go through several levels before I can leave this place.

The creature then stopped beside the wall where there was a stop sign jutting out from the wall like someone had stuck it in the wall and there was also a bloody handprint beside it.

It gestured with its hand towards the wall, as if it had led me to a door but there was nothing but an empty wall at where it had gestured.

I already kind of figured out what this was so I stepped up to the wall and pressed my hand up against the wall, only to see my hand disappear into it to show that there was a hidden entrance here.

I turned back to give the creature a look, prompting it to scurry a few steps back, clearly afraid that I would smack it again.

Seeing it recoil like that, I believed it should be showing me the right way so I went ahead to step into the wall.

There was a moment of darkness which blocked out my vision before I blinked and I found myself standing in a completely different place.

In front of me was what looked like the corridors of a western high school from my old World with the rows of lockers on either side of the corridor. In between the lockers were doors that seemed to lead into classrooms and the corridor continued on before splitting into other corridors, some with double doors separating the corridors between them.

Looking behind me, the wall was completely gone and replaced with a corridor leading to a modern looking elevator instead.

When I tried to push the button to call for the elevator however, there was a buzzing sound coming from it and no response from the elevator doors.

I then noticed that there was a keyhole above the button and I surmised that I needed to find a key in order to activate it before I could proceed.

Which means that on this particular ’floor’, the goal was to find that key before I could continue.

I turned back around and started walking through the corridor, first checking the lockers to see if they had anything in them but then realising that the lockers could not be opened so that meant the key must be in the classrooms somewhere.

I checked the first few which were just rooms with a teacher’s desk at the front and several student desks filling up the rest of the space with white, empty walls around.

As I stepped out of the third classroom I checked however, the sound of footsteps came from around the corner and I swivelled towards the source of the noise to see a figure standing right outside another classroom, the previously closed door there left hanging open.

The figure was frozen on the spot and it took me a moment to realise that this ’figure’ was a mannequin.

The mannequin had a face painted on its head while the rest of the body was completely white and its hands were just rounded nubs instead of anatomical hands with fingers.

Hmmm...

I looked away for a moment and the sound of footsteps appeared again.

I turned back to look at the mannequin and it was frozen again, this time having taken a few steps closer towards me and paused in mid stride towards me.

I cracked my neck and blinked slowly, finding that it took one more step in that moment when I blinked which made me smile a little as I started walking towards it instead of running away.

I reached the mannequin without blinking and gave it a light kick, knocking it over onto the ground before taking a few steps back and then blinking.

The mannequin managed to move itself into a position of pushing itself up in a single blink, now in the motion of taking a knee so I blinked one more time, allowing it to stand up fully.

Once it got to that position, I went ahead to kick it again, knocking it down once more before stepping back again.

And again, I let it stand back up again before kicking it onto the ground, a smile appearing on my face as I found amusement at this.

I repeated this a few more times and despite the fact that this was just a mannequin that was not able to make any sounds or change the expression on its painted face, I could tell it was getting frustrated with me since each time it tried to get up, it looked like it was trying its best to lunge at me before it got frozen in midmotion to get kicked down on the ground again.

Eventually, I got a little bored of doing that over and over again so I just took a few steps back and turned my back on it.

The clearly pissed off mannequin wasn’t even being subtle as it noisily got to its feet and started sprinting towards me.

I was quite curious what it would do so I let it get close to me, only to feel a bonk on my head which was akin to someone tossing a paper ball at the back of my head.

And if you were wondering... No, it did not hurt.

A few more bonks came after the first one and I let the mannequin hit me a few more times before turning back to it, my gaze causing it to freeze in mid motion of trying to attack me where its hand was pulled back in preparation to punch me.

"You trying to do something?" I asked casually, not expecting an answer of course.

I turned back again and it gave the back of my head a few more punches before I felt its hands grip the sides of my neck and squeezing, as if it was trying to choke me.

I simply smacked its hands aside before turning back to freeze it in place again, giving the mannequin a smile before I braced a foot on its chest and kicking my foot out.

The mannequin ended up being flung all the way across the entire corridor to smash into the wall hard enough to shake the entire corridor.

I looked away and back, now finding the mannequin trying to crawl away instead of running towards me.

Tsk tsk tsk. Just like the other one, you’re also trying to run after just a small beating? Well too bad, I don’t want you to leave now. And you can’t move while I’m looking at you right?
