Chapter 1532: These Are Human Shaped Footballs
I kicked the mannequin into the room forcefully, feeling a little miffed because it had been stuck on the doorframe for a while before I finally managed to get it through the door. It didn’t help that the mannequin was intentionally trying its best to get itself stuck on poses that made it hard to kick it through the doors.
I needed to search for the key in the room so I went ahead to close the door and punt the mannequin to the corner of the room, knocking over a few of the tables and chairs and making sure it was as far away from the door as possible.
I started searching around the room, looking under tables and in the drawers to find out if there were any keys around.
The mannequin was taking advantage of the fact that I wasn’t looking at it to make a beeline for the door. But because of what it was, it couldn’t walk quietly so the stomping of the footsteps was quite loud and the moment it reached near the door, I turned around, freezing it in place before it could open the door.
I then walked over to it and kicked it all the way back to the back of the class again, resetting its progress to continue searching for the key.
I searched the teacher’s desk but unfortunately had no luck, straightening myself and frowning when I heard two sets of footsteps from behind me as well as the door creaking open.
I spun around, finding the mannequin still a few steps away from the door, but the door itself was now wide open.
Then I realised there was another mannequin, having opened the door and making its way towards me with its hands outstretched as though trying to grab me.
The hilarious thing here was the fact that the original mannequin was frozen in a pose where it was raising its hands in surrender, as though it was trying to tell me that it had nothing to do with this new mannequin that was trying to attack me.
I’m also assuming that this new mannequin had been so focused on me that it didn’t realise there was another mannequin beside the door and didn’t have the chance to stop and wonder why the first mannequin didn’t try to kill me.
I smiled at it, "Oh hello~ Fancy having a new toy eh?"
I curled my tail around its neck and flung it to the end of the classroom, smashing it against the wall hard enough to leave a dent.
The first mannequin went out of my sight for a moment and managed to take a few steps to the door before I turned to it, freezing it in place again.
I pointed a finger at it, "You’re lucky, I have another toy that I will be playing with now but you’re going to stand right there and not try to escape. Otherwise, you’re going to take its place again. Got it?"
I stared at it for a while before looking back at the second mannequin, which had managed to get up to its feet and was now pressing itself against the back wall.
When I turned back to the first mannequin, I found that it was staying right where it was obediently, standing at attention.
"Do you know where the key is? Take a step forward if you do, stay still if you don’t."
I turned away to look back at the second mannequin, finding that it had tried to sneak up on me to try and attack me again.
I gave it another good kick to the back of the classroom, creating another crack in the wall before turning back to the first one.
It had taken a step forward.
I wasn’t surprised of course, I figured that it should know since I believe these things are the guardians of this floor. But even if it didn’t, it was no big deal.
And yes, I could have just asked it from the very beginning instead of going around searching from room to room but... The point was that I wanted to kick it around a bit more before I left this place just because I could.
I pointed at the first mannequin, "You will lead me to it. And don’t do something stupid like running away because I will stay here and hunt you down if you do."
Saying my piece, I turned back to the second mannequin and walked over to it, freezing it in place with my gaze when it had just managed to push itself up to a knee.
I then went ahead to start kicking it out of the classroom, using it like a ball just like what I did with the first one.
When I turned back to the front, I found the first mannequin was no longer standing at where I had left it but I wasn’t too worried.
I kicked the second mannequin out of the classroom, only to find the first mannequin standing outside waiting for me, its arm lifted to point towards the right corridor.
I kicked the second mannequin in that direction, "Continue."
With that instruction, I looked away for a moment before looking back, seeing the first mannequin now a few metres down, its arms still lifted to point down the corridor while the second mannequin was still trying to run away.
I kept them frozen for a bit while I went over to the second mannequin to give it another kick to knock it over, making sure it can’t stand up to run away easily.
I turned to look at the first mannequin and it was now pointing at a specific classroom off to the side so I curled my tail around the ankle of the second mannequin and tossed it into the classroom, slamming it into the wall.
"Where?" I asked aloud, closing my eyes for a moment and opening it.
The first mannequin was now inside the classroom, pulling open a drawer at the teacher’s desk and gesturing inside it.
The second mannequin probably figured out that each time it tried to run, I was just going to kick it again so it was now curled up in a ball.
I found it a little hilarious that these two were actually acting like this when I’m pretty sure if it was any other person in here, they would be hunting that person and tormenting them as well.
That’s why I have no sympathy for tormenting them like this either.
Looking into the drawer, I found the key just sitting inside there, waiting for me to grab it.
And grabbed it I did, picking it up to bounce it in my hand before looking at the two mannequins that were still frozen in their poses in front of me.
"Any other idiots prowling around this floor that might come and try to hurt me while I make my way back to the elevator?"
I blinked and both mannequins moved to cross their arms in front of their chests.
I took that as an indication that there weren’t any.
Funny how the second mannequin had also decided to cooperate now.
I shrugged, deciding to just take their answers as the truth and turned my back to them, walking out of the classroom casually.
Honestly, I half expected them to gang up and try to attack me the moment I turned my back but surprisingly... That didn’t happen.
Seems like they have really learned their lesson at least.
I strolled through the empty corridor of this school, using my memory to guide me back to where the lift was.
It was just a short stroll before I made it back to the lift unmolested, having encountered not a single other monster along the way.
I inserted the key into the slot and twisted it, hearing a click and the sound of the lift coming to life.
Pressing the button made the machine hum again and I heard a pair of footsteps from behind.
Really?
I turned back around, seeing the two mannequins standing there in the middle of the corridor, though both of them did not look like they were trying to sneak up to attack me.
Even when I looked back at the lift to check if it was here yet before turning back, they had not moved from their positions.
It took me a moment to realise that the mannequins were there to see me off. Not out of respect or anything but to make sure that their tormentor was actually leaving so that they could have a peace of mind.
That annoyed me a little.
Also... The fact that the lift was taking its own sweet time to arrive told me that this was the last trap.
Anyone who ended up here would think they would be safe once they got the key and reached the lift, only to realise they had to wait here for the lift to arrive and they had to make sure the mannequins weren’t behind them or they would be dead.
That’s why I went ahead to go and give those two one last kick each before the lift finally arrived, letting me step inside and watching the doors closed before the lift descended.
Next floor, here I come~
