Chapter 1236: Little Jealousy Jar
The final curtain falls on the last class, and amidst the teacher’s encouragement and pep talk, the final review holiday of senior year begins. Once the review holiday ends, they will face their first major exam.
Everything must be moved out of the school on this day. Zhou Chengchen packs up her things, but she’s not in a hurry to leave; after all, three years’ worth of belongings isn’t something she can handle alone.
Others have already started moving things home in batches, but Zhou Chengchen hasn’t done so yet.
Soon, she receives a message from Xi Siyan, picks up a stack of books on her desk, and heads outside.
At the stairway entrance, Xi Siyan stands there, but Zhou Chengchen stops after taking only a couple of steps toward him because someone else is there — a girl she doesn’t recognize.
Although she doesn’t know her, Zhou Chengchen instantly recognizes that it’s Guo Yue. After all, a photo of her is still on display on the school bulletin board.
Zhou Chengchen furrows her brows. The person over there notices her, too. It seems Xi Siyan says something to Guo Yue, after which he comes over, and Guo Yue nods and turns to leave.
Xi Siyan takes the books from Zhou Chengchen’s arms, "Where are the others?"
Zhou Chengchen is still a bit dazed; it’s only upon hearing Xi Siyan’s voice that she snaps back to reality, "I’ll go get them."
As she speaks, her gaze drifts once more in the direction Guo Yue left.
She’s heard plenty of people mention seeing Xi Siyan and Guo Yue together, but she’s never seen it herself until now.
Zhou Chengchen shoulders her backpack, grabs two large bags, and heads out. Just as she leaves the classroom, Xi Siyan quickly takes the items from her.
He had returned home earlier, so all his belongings were already stored away. Now he’s carrying Zhou Chengchen’s backpack on his shoulder. Weighing the bags in his hands, he stuffs the stack of books Zhou Chengchen just carried out into one of them before asking, "Carrying them?"
It seems Zhou Chengchen is still pondering the scene she just witnessed, feeling a tinge of sourness. Hearing Xi Siyan’s words, she reflexively acts. After taking a few steps down the stairs, she snaps back and quickly catches up, "Let me carry some."
Her backpack is heavy, and the two bags are hefty too, yet all of them are being carried by Xi Siyan while she merely holds a stack of books, practically like someone who’s freeloading.
Xi Siyan’s pace is steady, "No need."
After a two-second pause, he adds, "You’ll hurt your hands."
Zhou Chengchen is slightly taken aback, and in the next moment, that bit of sourness she felt inside vanishes into thin air.
Xi Siyan is still the same Xi Siyan, seemingly aloof but ever unwilling to let her suffer even a little hardship.
Outside the school gates, the Zhou Family’s car is already waiting there. Remembering the earlier encounter, Zhou Chengchen no longer feels sour but still asks, "What were you talking about with that girl just now?"
"Some matters about Q University."
"Oh."
Xi Siyan doesn’t offer a detailed explanation, but Zhou Chengchen feels it’s enough. Talking about something related to Q University, that must be something important; what’s wrong with discussing serious matters?
Once at the car, the driver already has the trunk open to put their belongings inside. Zhou Chengchen doesn’t rush to get in, instead smiling softly at Xi Siyan, "Then, Xi, I’m heading back. Make sure you review well too."
Xi Siyan’s lips curve slightly with a tender gaze, inching closer to Zhou Chengchen and whispers in a voice only the two of them can hear, "Got it, you too, little vinegar jar!"
