Chapter 1229: Snow Outside the Window

On the last day of final exams, the first test was Zhou Chengchen’s best subject, English. He smoothly completed it, jotting down an essay draft on his scratch paper, but stumbled slightly at the conclusion.

Zhou Chengchen frowned slightly and turned his head to look out the window. The small snowflakes from the morning had turned into a heavy snowstorm without him realizing it.

Zhou Chengchen stretched his neck, lowered his head, and continued writing.

In the competition exam room, Xi Siyan was focused. After jotting down the last answer, he also raised his head to look out the window. The heavy snowflakes were swirling around, and a thick layer of snow had already accumulated on the pine trees outside the window.

Xi Siyan’s lips curled slightly; that clump of snow was so much like Bai Xue, fluffy.

He quickly refocused, lowered his head, and checked his work!

Once the final exams were over, An Rui had arranged a dinner to celebrate with those who had finished their tests, but since Zhou Chengchen had another test in the afternoon, he arrived last.

Upon reaching the agreed place, he only saw An Rui and Zhou Qi.

"Where is Xi Siyan?"

Zhou Chengchen had just sat down and immediately asked.

The two beside him were playing games on their phones, their eyes glued to the screen, not even glancing at her.

But they still answered, "He got a call as soon as he left the exam room and said he had something to do."

"Something? What kind of thing?"

"Didn’t say, damn it, damn sneaky play..."

Zhou Qi was talking while cursing the opponents in the game, clearly multitasking.

Zhou Chengchen glared at him, took out her phone, and called Xi Siyan, but no one picked up.

She called several times in a row, but no one answered.

For some reason, Zhou Chengchen suddenly had a bad feeling.

Ignoring the two playing games, she grabbed her backpack and rushed out.

"Hey, Cheng..."

Zhou Qi hadn’t even finished his sentence when Zhou Chengchen was already out of sight.

She took a taxi straight to Xi Siyan’s place. The sky was already turning dark, and the house was dark, but Zhou Chengchen still went up and knocked on the door. No one answered.

She called Xi Siyan again, but still, no one picked up.

Because it had been snowing all day, a thick layer had accumulated. The main roads were cleared, so vehicles could still pass, but the alleys and the old residential area were not.

Zhou Chengchen walked through the snow, her shoes were a bit wet, and her hands and feet were freezing; her nose was also red.

Her fingers were so numb from the cold that they were not very responsive to the touchscreen. After fumbling for a while, she managed to send a text: [Where are you? I’m at your door.]

A long time passed without a reply.

Zhou Chengchen just stood in the dimly lit stairwell, occasionally bouncing on her feet because of the cold.

After about twenty minutes, her phone suddenly rang. Her fingers, numb from the cold, only managed to take out the phone slowly, and she had to tap several times before successfully answering.

On the other end was the sound of wind howling, with Xi Siyan’s voice mixed in, "Where are you?"

"I’m at your door."

The wind on the phone sounded even louder. Xi Siyan said something, but Zhou Chengchen couldn’t hear it. She said "hello" a couple of times, and then the call was disconnected. When she called back, his phone was switched off.

Zhou Chengchen bounced in place a few more times. After another ten minutes or so, she heard hurried footsteps and then saw Xi Siyan appear, gasping heavily.

Even in the freezing weather, Xi Siyan’s face was very red.
