Chapter 1334: Has General Lu Really Come Back to Life?

Lu Yang’s story was long. It was so long that it couldn’t be finished even in three days and nights. Xia He listened quietly, her eyes reflecting Lu Yang’s animated expression.

From his account, Xia He learned what a magnificent, vast world the Cultivation World was and how rich and colorful Lu Yang’s experiences had been all these years.

He had encountered no shortage of danger, yet Xia He noticed that whenever Lu Yang spoke of them, he’d be excited, reveling in the memories. Clearly, he was satisfied with how those years had gone.

It’s a pity that I wasn’t the one by Lu Yang’s side.

“You must be hungry. I’ll have someone bring food over,” Xia He said, though she was actually the hungry one. Suddenly, Xia He froze, realizing a problem.

“What’s wrong?” Lu Yang was puzzled.

Xia He pointed at her pretty face, flustered. “Now that I look like this, will they still recognize me?”

If the security personnel learned that Xia He had regained her youth, even the most composed among them would panic. Even if fingerprints and DNA confirmed her identity, it would inevitably be a chaotic process.

“Then I’ll turn you back,” Lu Yang teased. Then he put on a high-pitched voice and mimicked her earlier tone as he said, “Lu Yang, I’m about to die~”

“Don't you dare imitate me!” Xia He pounded on him angrily. Her fists were soft, without much force.

“Don’t hit me, don’t hit me. I’ll think of something else.” Lu Yang hastily surrendered.

“I’ve got it.” Before long, Lu Yang produced a jade stone carved with intricate patterns from his identity jade tablet. “This is a small gift from the Junior Sister Tao I mentioned. She’s proficient in illusion arts. This jade stone is inscribed with an illusion array. When you wear it, others will see your original appearance.”

“So magical?” Xia He put on the jade stone and checked the mirror. Sure enough, she appeared as an old woman again, her voice aged as well. Removing it restored her youthful look. Only then did she relax and call for the housekeeper to bring food.

The housekeeper froze upon seeing Xia He, unsure when the latter had returned home. But she dared not ask and obediently went to cook.

“Make it more flavorful,” Xia He instructed. Normally, she could only manage a bowl of millet porridge. Now that she had regained her youthful body, her appetite was much better.

The housekeeper trembled, sorrow welling up within. The day has finally come. Elder Xia is experiencing terminal lucidity. I must stake everything and bring out the best of my cooking so that Elder Xia can enjoy her last meal.

“Did she misunderstand something?” Xia He wondered. She had never seen such a resolute gaze from the housekeeper.

Lu Yang quietly giggled to himself, choosing not to point it out. This silly lass hasn’t changed at all. She looks sharp as a tack but is actually very dense.

“By the way, do you know where Bai Shuang is?” Lu Yang asked about the Blue Planet’s Planetary Will. He had been the one to give her this name.

“Bai Shuang? I haven’t seen her in a while.”

Xia He was the person Lu Yang trusted most. After his self-detonation on the spirit stone planet in his past life, Bai Shuang had returned to the Blue Planet and immediately sought out Xia He, delivering the news of his death and asking her to raise an army to eradicate the zombies.

Later, Bai Shuang helped Xia He rebuild the Blue Planet. Through their repeated interactions and their shared connection to Lu Yang, Xia He became one of Bai Shuang’s rare good friends.

“She said she was going to find a way to save me, then disappeared. I haven’t seen her since.” Xia He sighed. How I wish I could tell her the good news that Lu Yang is alive.

As a planetary will, Bai Shuang came and went without a trace. Bai Shuang was always the one who sought out Xia He. Xia He had no way to contact her.

This posed a difficulty for Lu Yang. He had been able to locate Gu Yu because the Zhutian Civilization’s leadership knew of her existence. He could easily find her whereabouts by interrogating and torturing them for information.

But Bai Shuang was extremely shy. Xia He was likely the only one on the entire Blue Planet who knew of her existence. Tracking her down would be immensely challenging.

However, Lu Yang didn’t overthink it. Bai Shuang is searching for a way to save Xia He. Whether she finds one or not, she will eventually come looking for Xia He.

Another two weeks passed. During this time, Lu Yang stayed by Xia He’s side, visiting the history museum, the former war zones, and the library to see how history judged Lu Yang.

Together, they recalled their various experiences during the apocalypse. Whenever embarrassing moments were mentioned, they would exchange a knowing smile.

“You covered up the fact that I was the original pathogen, didn’t you?” Lu Yang asked. Their first meeting had been when Xia He ventured deep into the contaminated areas to investigate the source of the virus. Yet the history books stated that the virus’s source was never found.

Xia He smiled brightly. “You were the Blue Planet’s hero and the faith of all of humanity back then. Faith cannot have any blemishes.”

Lu Yang nodded, but made no comment.

“The immortal inside you, could you invite her out to meet me?” Xia He asked curiously. In Lu Yang’s stories, this female immortal came up the most frequently.

“Do you think a mere mortal like you can meet this immortal whenever you want to?” That said, the Everlasting Immortal Fairy emerged from Lu Yang, glaring at Xia He indignantly. She found Xia He an eyesore no matter how she looked at her. Xiao Yangzi spends all day cozying up to her. He rarely chats with me anymore.

“Greetings, Senior Everlasting. Many thanks for always looking after Lu Yang.” Xia He performed a proper ancient salute. She had specifically learned it from Lu Yang and mastered it in one attempt.

Lu Yang had wondered why Xia He was interested in the Cultivation World’s ancient etiquette. Was it all for this moment?

Xia He’s attitude pleased the Everlasting Immortal Fairy greatly. She harrumphed smugly. “No need for thanks. Xiao Yangzi is my person, after all. It’s only natural that I look after him.”

“Senior, your title is ‘Everlasting,’ signifying that you will endure for all of eternity, free and unfettered. Yet you are unable to reconstruct your immortal body and must reside in Lu Yang’s mental space. You truly have it rough, Senior.”

The Everlasting Immortal Fairy was taken aback. Why does it feel like this little lass’s words carry a hidden meaning?

After hearing Lu Yang’s stories, Xia He couldn’t help but find that something was amiss with the Everlasting Immortal Fairy. But it was only an intuition, so she had casually made that remark.

When Xia He’s bodyguards learned of the mysterious man by her side, they remained vigilant at all times, worried that he intended to make use of her for some hidden purpose. Although Xia He was no longer involved in politics, her influence remained. A single word from her could command the attention of the Blue Planet’s leadership.

As for Xia He’s claim that the man was Lu Yang, the bodyguards naturally didn’t believe it, even after witnessing his inhuman feats at the history museum.

In truth, these “bodyguards” were soldiers sent by the Blue Planet’s leadership to protect Xia He. They reported the intelligence on Lu Yang to their superiors, who all fell silent.

The reason was simple—they also held a report from the space agency’s director. The ancient man sailing a small boat through outer space in the satellite photos was identical to the mysterious man beside Xia He.

“Could that man next to Elder Xia really be General Lu?”

The Blue Planet’s leadership reacted in different ways, yet all unanimously chose to classify the matter as top secret and seal it away. They refrained from visiting Lu Yang, who had returned from the dead, or Xia He, whose end was near.
