Who Let Him Cultivate?! (WX)

Chapter 1333: Gain A New Life

Hearing the important figure call out Lu Yang's name, an uproar broke out among her retinue.

Who was Lu Yang? He was the savior of the Blue Planet. Even children who didn't study history and politically apathetic layabouts ignorant of who the current leader was knew Lu Yang's name. If it hadn’t been for Lu Yang, the Blue Planet would have been reduced to a planet of zombies or become the Zhutian Civilization’s captives.

But the issue was that Lu Yang had died on the expedition to the alien planet. How could he show up here? And looking so young? His appearance didn't match the photos in the textbook either. Is this big shot senile, blurring the lines between illusion and reality?

Upon hearing Lu Yang’s response, the doctor passed out, her eyes rolled back. Startled, her retinue scrambled to help her up.

Before they reached her, Lu Yang secretly channeled a bit of spirit qi to wake her.

“Doctor Xia He, you're as timid as ever,” he remarked with a smile.

When Lu Yang first met her, she was someone who seemed bold but was in fact timid. To build up her courage, he often threw her into hordes of zombies. He didn't expect her to still be just as timid after so many years.

The doctor’s murky eyes gazed at the unfamiliar young face as she listened to the familiar insufferable tone. I'm certain that this figure before me is that damned Lu Yang! I wonder why he has a different appearance and is still so young.

Ever since I’ve known Lu Yang, this bastard has been weird. He even once told me that there were two little figures inside his mind, one called the Blue Planet’s Planetary Will and the other the Zombie Planet's Planetary Will.

“Lu Yang, if you scare me to death, I won’t let you off even as a ghost!” Xia He said through gritted teeth. She couldn’t remember the last time she had been this furious. Lu Yang is probably the only person in this world who can stir my emotions.

“Don’t worry. These days, ghosts don’t dare come looking for me.” Lu Yang was overjoyed to see the doctor again.

“Now that I get to see you once before I die, I can die without regrets.” Xia He shook her head with a smile. Her face had aged beyond recognition. It was hard to imagine how stunningly beautiful she had been in her youth.

If I had met Lu Yang ten years ago, I would have felt ashamed of my aged appearance and been unwilling to show myself before him, hoping to remain forever young and beautiful in his memory. But now that my end is near, seeing Lu Yang once is all I can ask for.

“You think you can still die with me here?” Lu Yang wasn’t saddened. He simply found it amusing.

Xia He shook her head. “I know my body best. Now that I’ve seen you, I feel much better than before, but this must be terminal lucidity. I won’t last long.”

“You’re not going to die... Stop lying there.” Lu Yang pulled Xia He to her feet, startling the retinue. They knew better than anyone how frail she was and couldn’t bear to watch her handled so roughly.

However, Xia He seemed perfectly fine, her breathing even steadier than before.

She was a doctor and knew better than anyone that this anomaly was no terminal lucidity. “Wh-What did you do?”

Lu Yang glanced at the wary attendants and smirked. “Are you sure you want to talk about it here?”

The entourage didn’t believe the young man was Lu Yang. They assumed Xia He was senile and being deceived by someone with ulterior motives.

Outside, the crowd was being evacuated. Armed police surrounded the area, searching for suitable sniper positions.

“Let’s go to my house,” Xia He said, but her retinue showed no intention of letting them pass.

Xia He was somewhat in a bind. She knew what her attendants were thinking. Even if she gave them a stern order, they wouldn’t step aside for her safety.

“Give me the directions. I’ll take you there.” Lu Yang scooped Xia He up like a sack of rice and flew out of the museum, leaving the retinue and police gaping.

The armed police dared not fire, fearing that they could end up hitting Xia He, so they could only let them go.

Xia He’s eyes went wide. This bastard has been gone for decades, and now he can fly?!

“Where is your house?”

“Fly east!” Xia He pointed. Being carried sideways by Lu Yang didn’t bother her. In fact, it was a bit thrilling, reminding her of how Lu Yang used to drag her through zombie hordes during the apocalypse.

After Xia He directed him a few times, they arrived at Xia He’s home, a villa.

“Looks like you’ve done pretty well for yourself these years. You’re even staying in a villa. I still live in a cave,” Lu Yang teased.

Xia He sighed. “I wanted a small house, but the government insisted it wasn’t safe and arranged for me to live here.”

“Do you live in such a big house alone?”

“Not exactly. The housekeepers and security personnel are inside. Oh no, I don’t have my keys.” Someone of Xia He’s status wouldn’t carry keys.

Before she finished, Lu Yang stepped through the wall and entered the villa.

How did he do that? Xia He was dumbfounded.

”Where have you been all these years?” she asked. After decades apart, Lu Yang had only grown more mysterious.

Lu Yang waved. “No rush. Let me treat your illness first.”

Xia He was riddled with injuries, like a torn sack leaking from every hole, and her life force was rapidly fading away. Rather than an illness, it would be more accurate to say that the old wounds from the reckless struggles in her youth had been resurfacing as she aged.

What she had said earlier wasn’t a joke; she truly was about to die. The fact that she remained alive wasn’t exactly a miracle. Instead, what had been keeping her alive by a thread was her sheer willpower.

She couldn’t withstand any strain. Any other cultivator would need to dilute elixirs, gradually nurse her back to health, and cleanse her meridians and bones over days or months. But it was much simpler for Lu Yang. He activated his Origin-Tracing Incipient Dao Fruit and tapped Xia He’s forehead.

A miraculous radiance spread from her forehead across her body. Wherever it passed, her skin became smooth and fair, as if she had been given a new life.

“Th-this...” Xia He stared at her body in shock. She was back to her twenties, just like she had been when she first met Lu Yang, brimming with energy. She had tried to imagine how extraordinary Lu Yang was, but this still completely shattered her understanding. Never had she dreamed that she could return to her youthful appearance.

“How’s that, Doctor Xia? Am I better at treating illnesses than you now?” Xia He used to bicker with Lu Yang, teasing him for knowing nothing about medicine. Now, he could finally return the favor.

“What have you been through all these years?” Xia He’s expression was complicated. She recalled how bitterly she had wept when the Blue Planet’s Planetary Will told her Lu Yang had died on the spirit stone planet.

Back then, she couldn’t afford to grieve too deeply. The Blue Planet’s Planetary Will still needed her to rally humanity’s forces against the zombies. That was what Lu Yang had entrusted to the Blue Planet’s Planetary Will before his death. She could only suppress her sorrow, always putting on a brisk and energetic front before others. It was this stark contrast that ultimately left her with lingering ailments.

Pah, I wasted my tears. Bastard Lu Yang, give me back my tears.

“This all goes back to a rainy day on the second day of the second month, when I took the Dao-Seeking Sect’s entrance examination...”
