Chapter 1286: “The One At Home”

”What kind of power is this?” The bullets lost all kinetic energy in an instant and froze in place. Both the police and the viewers were utterly dumbstruck.

“His energy shield must have a limit. It can’t stay active forever. Fire! Keep firing!” The police commander gave the order immediately. This wasn’t his decision alone; the quantum computer had calculated the same result.

According to the quantum computer’s calculations, there was a ninety-five percent probability that the energy barrier around Lu Yang couldn’t be sustained for long. The more projectiles it froze, the shorter its duration.

Right after the police commander issued the order, a directive came from the superiors. “Orders from the top—take him alive!”

“What?”

The top brass had taken notice of Lu Yang’s existence. The technology he possessed and the faction behind him were what the Interstellar Alliance wished to understand. They absolutely couldn’t let him die.

But it was already too late. The command had been issued, and the rooftop immediately came under concentrated fire, with guns and cannons firing at once. The rooftop became as hot as a furnace.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

The robotic officers were covered in gun muzzles, as dense as a hornet’s nest. They opened fire simultaneously with a barrage of bullets and laser cannons of various calibers, along with weapons Lu Yang couldn’t identify.

Among the audience were military aficionados who recognized this as the most powerful arsenal the police could deploy. It could collapse an entire building, let alone obliterate a person.

Countless attacks came at him from all directions. However, regardless of the attack, all froze within exactly three feet of Lu Yang. Even the exploding shells halted three feet away, frozen in the moment of detonation.

Whether high-ranking Interstellar Alliance leaders or ordinary viewers, all were pale with shock. This could no longer be explained by energy shields!

Lu Yang waved at the camera with a mysterious smile, uttering words that no one could understand.

He had uttered “Origin Tracing.”

As though time were flowing backward, the bullets that were already fired retreated through the gun barrels into their magazines, the exploding shells reverted to their original state, the torn-open roof mended itself, and Lu Yang vanished without a trace.

It was as if nothing had ever happened—except that the production crew had disappeared.

└What... kind of technology was that?

The comment section erupted. Viewers spammed question marks, but no one could provide a definitive answer.

└The atomic restoration technology that only exists in theory?

└Time reversal! It has to be time reversal!

The Interstellar Alliance’s higher-ups immediately dispatched their most advanced warships to pursue the wupeng boat, but after the boat used Shrinking Earth To Inches, they could no longer track it down.

No one noticed that their most-wanted target was standing right downstairs. Humming a tune, the disguised Lu Yang sauntered away from the scene. He had changed his clothes to a common style worn by the people of the Interstellar Alliance. His appearance had been altered, and his aura was completely different.

Even Meng Jingzhou wouldn’t recognize him.

He wasn’t ready to make contact with the Interstellar Alliance’s higher-ups just yet.

“Xiao Yangzi, what does ‘the one at home’ mean?” The Everlasting Immortal Fairy blushed slightly. The phrase feels so intimate that I can’t even look Xiao Yangzi in the eye.

“My home is the mental space, and since you live in my mental space, Immortal Fairy, you’re naturally the one at home.” Lu Yang observed the Everlasting Immortal Fairy’s reaction with a meaningful smile, finding it quite amusing.

“So that’s what it means!” The Everlasting Immortal Fairy’s eyes lit up with understanding. “Then I can call you that too, right, Xiao Yangzi?”

“Y-You don’t have to call me that.” Lu Yang averted his gaze, unwilling to continue the subject.

The Interstellar Alliance’s leadership naturally had no clue that the alien who had them on edge tonight was currently feeling shy.

Twelve holographic projections surrounded a round table, the atmosphere grave. Half of them had been roused from sleep to attend this meeting.

Since the Interstellar Alliance’s founding, few matters had ever elicited such a response. Whenever they reacted this way, it signified that they were facing a major event that would affect the Interstellar Alliance’s future trajectory. The last time the atmosphere had been this heavy was when they were dealing with the alliance’s impending dissolution.

“Regarding that extraterrestrial visitor, has ‘Ether’ computed the results?” one of them asked slowly. He was the Chairman of the Interstellar Alliance Council, the Interstellar Alliance’s supreme leader.

Ether was the Interstellar Alliance’s most advanced and most powerful quantum computer. The alliance governed eight hundred primary planets and three thousand secondary planets, with a population numbering in the trillions. Much of the credit for maintaining control over such a vast dominion was owed to Ether’s centralized planning.

“We can’t calculate specific results, only probabilistic events. The methods displayed by the extraterrestrial visitor ‘Lu Yang’ have never been recorded in Ether.” The speaker was the Interstellar Alliance’s Chief Scientist, renowned as the greatest mind of the millennium. These days, however, the only part of him that remained original was his brain.

“The faction behind Lu Yang either follows a research path completely different from ours, or their technology is a generation ahead of ours. According to Ether’s calculations, if the faction behind him were technologically far superior to us, they would have already spread their forces across the entire universe. The alliance would have encountered them long ago rather than just today.”

“So Ether’s conclusion is that this alien possesses technology from a different research paradigm?”

“Yes.”

The group fell into a long silence, pondering Ether’s conclusion.

The Chief Scientist continued, “That said, if we absolutely must find a match for the extraterrestrial visitor within Ether’s records, there is one ‘pseudo-record’ that corresponds.”

The other eleven were taken aback. “What is a ‘pseudo-record?’”

“They are records that exist but lack corroborating context and cannot be verified with current technology. For example, many civilizations in their early stages have recorded tales of cataclysmic floods and deities traversing the cosmos.”

One of them wore a peculiar expression. “When you say ‘corresponds,’ you’re not suggesting the extraterrestrial visitor is some kind of deity, are you?”

“That’s precisely what I meant.”

This time, the group didn’t fall silent. They flatly rejected the notion.

“That’s impossible. We don’t need to consider that probability.” How could there be gods and immortals in this world? To lower-level civilizations, our technology looks like divine power as well.

“So the most likely possibility is that they have taken a different research path?”

The group broke into smiles. The Interstellar Alliance’s technology had been stuck in a bottleneck for five hundred years. Even minor breakthroughs were scarce, much less major ones. The technological methods Lu Yang wields will surely help us advance!

“What about Heavensea Planet?”

“What does Ether say?”

“It recommends providing humanitarian relief and post-disaster reconstruction efforts on Heavensea Planet. First, it aligns with the alliance’s long-standing policy. Second, it will allow us to gather more intelligence about Lu Yang through Heavensea Planet.”

“Then we’ll follow Ether’s recommendation. Also, I propose allocating one percent of Ether’s computing power specifically to analyze matters concerning Lu Yang.”

“I agree.”

“Agree.”

“Agree.”
